Thanks YYac attack. I went to start a service ticket and saw this note on the website:

What is your policy on will-call name changes?
Unfortunately, we are unable to process will call name change requests.  Per our ticketing policy, "ALL SALES ARE FINAL. Name changes are not allowed." Please review the ground(ctrl) ticketing policy for more information.

Is this a sign that I should bail on my work meeting and make the trip??? Or does this just mean he can give them my name for the tickets?
I can't tell you what to do, but your friends will be at the mercy of whomever is at the will call window.  I'd say, from what I've heard, it works about 50% of the time.  ground(ctrl)'s policy has always been what's stated above, but sometimes humans with a reasonable degree of kindness in their hearts will work with you.  I suppose, as an added twist, your friends could arrange to have you on their cell phone when the moment arrives, to plead to the good nature of the box office folks, but don't get your hopes up...  Anyway, the above policy states that ground(ctrl) cannot change the name on will call ticket orders, but it does not state that transferring tickets is prohibited.  Good luck.

PS - I've emailed a contact at ground(ctrl) asking him to check your post and see what can be done.  No guarantees on that, as his role is not ticketing customer service.
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

I am sadly not going to make the trip from Houston to Austin tonight for the Stubb's show. My tickets are at will call under my name and I need to transfer them into my buddy's name so he and his wife can enjoy the show. Called stubb's which I guess is also front gate tickets and they politely said they can't do anything about it because I ordered the tickets pre-sale through ground ctrl. Was on hold with ground control for 10 minutes on their (877) GND CTRL number. After 10 minutes, a recording said nobody was available. Does anybody have a better number to call to reach someone at ground control that can help me? Thank you!

EDIT: If my buddy just gives them my name at will call will that work? Maybe I can just have him print and bring out my confirmation e-mail?

Thanks I just don't want these to go to waste!

like YAC said, it's seriously such a crap shoot..even if it's pre-arranged with GC, there's no telling. send a letter along with a copy of your ID to your buddy just in case
but come on...there's nothing sexy about poop. Nothing.  -bbill

Thanks for the help. I got through to someone at ground control and he recommended I do the same thing.

Fucking amazing show! They brought it quite a bit harder than last night at ACL! The crowd was really diggin it, I wish they would've taped or streamed this show instead. Un-fucking-real!

Yeah I'm still buzzing over this show. I share your sentiment and also think it was better than the ACL taping. Still don't get why they cut Exploding from the set.

I loved the happy birthday cake celebration for their road manager. Did anyone get any cake from Jim as he was passing it out?

Also WTF GroundControl. We got an email for early entry about an hour before the doors open. It didn't matter as I still got in quickly and secured a spot, but that is just really bad.

I got the early entry email at 6:45 pm EST and was too horrified/embarrassed to post it here.

So, the setlist from setlist.fm includes Exploding and has a different encore from what justbcusido posted.  For the sake of accuracy, is this right?

Yeah that is correct. I was texting my friend at the show (who wound up way back atfer getting a drinks) the encore song list as it happened since he didn't know the names of any of the MOF songs. He skipped Expoloding at both the ACL taping and Stubbs for whatever reason. Whoever posted on setlist was wrong.

Fun time last night. Can't wait for the Brooklyn Roots/JJ show. Then hoping he brings a few of the solo songs back to MMJ for the summer tour.

My guess is they skipped Exploding for time reasons. To the best of my knowledge on at least Sunday though Thursday there is a sound ordinance in place that forces Stubb's to end things outside at 10:30.

This show was fucking incredible. Probably the best concert I've been to honestly (it tops MMJ's Dec. 14, 2011 Madison Square Garden concert  for me and that was something, with Band of Horses opening no less)! I'm hoping more than ever someone in the audience recorded it.

Edit: It's pretty incredible how different their Stubb's performance was to their SXSW Auditorium Shores set. It makes sense given they had only done like 5 or 6 shows prior to the AS show and only had 45 minutes to introduce themselves to a potentially largely unacquainted audience. That's not to say the AS show wasn't incredible because it was. I was just so surprised in the best way how much they added to the songs on Monday.

Some videos have been popping up from the Stubbs show. Here is the Dear One drum solo and end. ok audio quality.

The pause near the end gives me chills everytime. Jim was just feeding off the energy of the crowd. What a great show. I hope theres a taping pops up somewhere.

The Austin show was mind blowing.  Just a heads up, there's a good taping on thesteamengineengine.net.
