Ha.... Anthony "A-Rod" from Philly. I need to grab a damn bear suit and start holding it down like you.

I wonder if the same Anthony from Philly I'm talking about was in the bear suit!? If he was, that just gives me an even better impression of him! Seriously, I will never forget the moment! I hugged him! LOL

I'm watching all these youtubes and looking at our pics and I can't hold back tears of joy! I'm completely cool with sharing that too!

.musical highlights...
night 1: a really good steam engine, but more importantly RYDER>BROWN EYED WOMEN, COBRA>TYRONE was insane.
YES!  i kept thinking, "this is only night one!"

it was just a complete "small talk" conversation and the guy had no clue who carl was. the conversation went something like:
"hey whats your name?"
"carl"
"where are you from?"
"nashville"
"cool, so what do you do for a living"
"uhh.. play guitar"
"no way thats awesome, thats a full time job?" (or something along those lines)
(something along the lines of) "yeah, it pays the bills.."
the dude kept probing him, oblivious, while everyone just watched, knowing it was coming... and finally,
"so do you play in any band I would know?"
"uh... my morning jacket."

laughter all around

don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

That is too crazy and hilarious.  But could it have been someone pulling a "Between Two Ferns" or Ali G type of interview just to be a nut?

Ha, yeah it was marsvolta. I ran into a few of his boys he was with last night at Dr. Dog and it was nice rehashing the trip in person with some peeps. That crew really brought it hard all week... As everyone from Phily does of course.

Also, the last time we saw Careless Whisper was during Z on the T5 run and they did the bananas then... So we've been nanered twice now! LOL anyone know how many times they've done this now!?

the first Careless whisper/nanna tossing occurred NYE 2006 at the Fillmore in SF.

They CW/Banana thing really drives me nuts. It's been done 4 times now, and doesn't seem natural at all. That cover should probably be retired, as well as Rock The Casbah. And All Night Long, for that matter.

All three of those covers were really amazing the first, and even second time I saw them, but its too, much. It is possible that I'm just spoiled and have seen them too many times, but I would think most people in Mexico were in the same boat.

I wasn't there but have seen those covers a few times myself, and could not agree with you more.

While we're at it, and even though it's a fairly new cover, can we throw Bruce's Hungry Heart in that group?  I get it can be a fun song, and that's probably why they chose it but there are so many great Bruce songs they could cover, and not that cheesy "hit". The Ghost Of Tom Joad anyone? Adam Raised A Cain? Just to name two. They would do those songs some serious justice, no doubt about it.

Yeah! How about Glory Days? Born in the USA, or Dancing in the Dark!
"...it's gonna be great -- I mean me coming back with the band and playing all those hits again"

I'm not a big cover fan in general. I feel like they do them really well, but typically, I'm a big MMJ fan because I like MMJ's songs.

I understand why, at an event like OBH, it would be cover heavy, because it's a high-energy, party environment, and a lot of the songs they kept on the shelf are probably of the quieter and low-energy variety.  By My Car might be a little jarring and a bit of a buzzkill in the resort environment. But it seems a shame that this 3 night stand is likely going to be released on audio, and the only songs featured on it that weren't just released on Port Chester are Picture of You and then a bunch of cover songs.

The covers probably made it fun to be at, but not as fun for those of us just waiting for the audio at home, I would imagine.
