The deposit is $500/room ($250 per person) so for the low to mid-range room. There are rooms that are triple occupancy and thus increases the amount of the deposit including the presidential suites (I think $1,000 was required for those)

Soooo for the uninitiated, where would you suggest starting my education on Dr Dog and Alabama Shakes?

And I still vote for Punta Cana for a location, but I wouldnt argue with a return trip to Mexico...

Alabama Shakes only have one album so listen to that... Dr. Dog have a lot of albums... hmm their latest B-room but maybe an earlier one is where I would start.

thanks!  So what was the consensus on the rooms vs. value?  Were the higher priced rooms worth it?  Views of the ocean?

In the mean time, those dates are black out dates at the resort....soooooo......

maybe I'm missing it, but the dates don't appear to be blackout dates at the resort now.  Seems like you can freely book rooms during those dates.

Just checked HR Punta Cana (location of Panic en la Playa), and it is blocked out Jan 18-27!  The mystery continues...

While I loved HR Riviera Maya, I'd really like it to be somewhere different for OBH2.

I'm guessing this Friday or next Monday.  Are we just assuming the presale is June 11 because of last year, or have we heard a rumor?

We paid for 2 rooms. We got a junior suite which had a rooftop deck w jaccuzzi for my wife and I and our 2 little kids and then we got a regular double room for my teenager and my mother in law which was cheaper. I won't spend the money on the junior suite again. If you don't have kids that may need to sleep, i think the concert courtyard rooms are the way to go. As far as views of the ocean, there certainly are rooms with it, but honestly, we didn't spend much time in our room so it was irrelevant.

I am thinking of attempting this but not sure I can convince any of my friends to do it (combination of price + not being huge MMJ fans like me). I assume plenty of board members went last year, right? I need to start planning/saving now.

I am selfishly really hoping for a return to the same location as I have a ton of southwest miles, and they now fly into Cancun.  No such dice with Punta Cana.

Stop questioning and DO IT! I would expect/hope they have the "Flying Solo" option again this year. This allowed people like yourself to get matched into a room with someone else in similar circumstances. I never heard any complaints from anyone who do this last year.

I was bumming out for a second until I read your post Jenfarr.  Thanks for posting that info.

I don't care where they have OBH2.  I just want them to have it!  And as much as I loved the Riviera Maya, going to the DR, a place I've never been that hopefully has beach access right there at the resort, would be a super awesome bonus.
