I don't really have a horse in this race, as I'm unfortunately locked firmly in North America during OBH, but I'd be almost as excited for Dr. Dog as MMJ. Not only have they been busting out some super rare tunes lately, but they're just plain FUN!

War On Drugs are fantastic, but they get locked in to their metronomic grooves and wail away with nary a smile. Dawes and BOH do their thing which we're all very familiar with at this point. But the Dog bounce around up there like they're a bunch of teenagers playing their first show! You can't help but smile and dance. Goddamn I wish I could be there.

don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

Really wish Dr.Dog was headlining night 3. The BOH sunset set sounds interesting, BUT I really don't need two BOH sets. Saw them open enough MMJ shows. Plus DR.Dog KILLS IT LIVE!!!

Just one guys opinion
Them that don't know him won't like him and them that do, sometimes won't know how to take him

last year wasn't MMJ the only band on the first night? I think that would be a better opening night. an evening with MMJ over any opener. just my opinion though, and even though I don't love the line up, I do love that they're trying to make sure everyone gets their moneys worth.

I'm absolutely in agreement.  Dr. Dog is significantly higher energy than BoH.  Interesting choice in scheduling.

I honestly think dr dog should headline festivals. I think it's blasphemous that bands like lumineers or Mumford can headline with one or two albums under their belt. Imagine a see if people singing along to Jackie.
I wonder why we listen to poets when nobody gives a fuck

Not going but...

MMJ
Dr. Dog (I think most of you will agree once you see them live)
Sylvan esso
War on drugs
Preservation hall jazz band

Dawes

Band of horses

This is the correct answer. Maybe add about 10 more spaces between PHJB and Dawes, and the same in-between Dawes and BoH.

Just today I've started feeling really bummed that I decided not to go this year. Everyone enjoy THE DOG for me. They're miles ahead of everyone else on the list other than MMJ.

I'm guessing you've never seen War On Drugs. Either way, there is no "correct answer"

yeah thats what umphrees mcgees fans say too

Huh?

werduga

MMJ
Dawes
Dr. Dog
Boh acoustic
Boh
WOD
Sylvan Esso
Patrick's dance party
Biz Markie
Phjb

I've seen all these bands at least once with the exception of the Biz or SE (but I think their album is great). I saw Wod at the Tabernacle recently and wasn't blown away, but I dig their albums. No complaints about any of the bands when the ocean is your backdrop and I'm double fisting drinks!

oz_lieb

MMJ (of course)
BOH Acoustic (their acoustic live album is amazing and i think the sunset on the ocean will be an ideal setting)
Dr. Dog (just saw them on their 4x4 run in NYC and they are getting better and better as a live band)
Dawes (i've never seen them live, but have been a fan for years - maybe we'll get some New Basement Tapes collaborations?!?)
War on Drugs (just started getting into them, and very excited)
PHJB Late Night (hoping for an appearance by Jim James!)
Sylvan Esso (their album is great, and this could be an incredible late night performance)
BOH Electric
Patrick Hallahan DJ Set
Biz Markie DJ Set
PHJB - early set

Angelo

I'd be surprised if Jim doesn't sit in with Dawes to play  Down On The Bottom and Nothing To It. I would be in heaven if they did Quick Like A Flash too, love that song.

That would be amazing.  Also would be incredible if one (or more) of the other artists from New Basement Tapes made a surprise appearance.  considering bob weir was there last year, it's not out of the question to see someone (elvis costello!!) popping up

Oh and my list:
MMJ
Dr. Dog
WoD
BoH acoustic
Toss up between Dawes and BoH electric, unless Jim does some NBT joints with Dawes, then they'd appear above BoH acoustic. All these variables!

It'll be cool to see the Biz too.

Well the Bob Weir appearance wasn't all that surprising seeing that Furthur just had their own event on the same resort a few days prior. Would still be cool if they brought out a surprise guest not already on the bill.

Conor Oberst is playing in Mexico on Jan 30th and then doesn't have another gig until the end of Feb. Granted his show is in Mexico City and Cancun isn't exactly on the way, but you never know.

Conor Oberst would make a lot of sense, considering his connections w/ Dawes, who was his backing band on the most recent tour and album, and w/ jim james.  would love to hear some monsters of folk!

Yeah Garrett, I remember when that Conor show got announced the first thing I did was check Google maps for the distance between the two. Conor's show is in the western part of Mexico iirc but like you said, you never know.

Would be very cool if Conor showed up. His previous relationship with Jim and MoF make that interesting. Dawes also did a tour with him so hopefully he rides on over and jams for us!

Dawes are playing with Conor in Mexico City on Jan. 30th. So maybe he'll tag along with them.

That kind of seals the idea for me. Conor doesn't have another show until late February.
