Listened a few times today. I've liked it more each time I've heard it, but still seems a little lacking. I like it better than Big Decisions, but it kinda just feels like a Victory Dance re-tread. They're not the same in tempo, etc. or anything like that, but just the underlying tone of the songs seems almost the exact same to me. That said, I think it will be a pretty good song in person.

Oh and another thing... I think you guys who are all bleuhhhh let them expand their horizons and shit are discounting the power of Jim James's voice actually DISTORTING the tape when he screams which I believe happens on a kvrx recording or maybe the 2 meter sessions? On that under the waterfall thing there was a few seconds of a song that sounded lo fi again and I was fully erect

See if some dude on the street was like my morning jacket sucks I would fuckin see him driven before me and hear the lamentations of his women but I know you guys love the band as much as I do so we can talk as giant superfan losers who get all anime eyed at I needed it most

I think this is going to be the most sonically interesting of their albums and i think that bodes well for MMJ fans old and new--bc the live shows are where these songs are going to shine and live shows are at the heart of all our fandom.

I should say that i took it for granted that everyone else also put some nice headphones on and cranked it way up for the first listen... if you didn't do this you may not understand some of our excitement.  my ears were ringing after the 2nd listen.. it wasn't good.  But it was pretty darn good.

Fetus Tree is angry.

I suppose I might be, too, if I was still on AOL IM.

I will play the "been posting here since 2004" card just so I can say:

one of the best posts ever

Great job Woldie; raaaazor sharp

Be the cliché you want to see in the world.

I have listened to it several times today. gets better with each listen. that Neil Youngish crying guitar is the best MMJ guitar work since Z.  :cheesy: That is the only definitive statement I will make, at this point.

I am a big fan of this song.  I don't think it will be an opener because they have been opening with the first song from their album during recent album tours (Evil Urges and then Circuital consistently).

CHIMMJFAN

Should it scare me that I love this song so damn much already. The possibilities of what they are gonna add to that crying guitar part. This should come off killer live! This and the video from "Only Memories Remain" already is making me pee my pants.

I had a feeling once I heard similar guitar parts on a couple songs from New Basement Tapes that we may get something similar on the new album. I'm liking it!

I'm 2 for 2.  Really enjoy Big Decisions

This one has a lot going on so I'll avoid definitive comment until I hear it in context of the album.  It sure will be a lot of fun live

Very curious what the album opener will sound like. This seems like an obvious album opener.  Maybe it opens side two of the record

craig

A nice little seasonal affective disorder anthem.

Lyrics seem a bit simple. Instrumental will be fantastic live.

It's close. Oh so close...

Thanks, Tracy 2112.  I'll be here all... for a while.

I think I would really enjoy having a few whiskeys with fetus tree.

I like this song, just like I like Big D. But I don't love them, yet. It will take listening to the whole album and a live viewing to really formulate an opinion. That said, seeing compound at OBH2 really fired me up, I thought it was one of the best songs I have heard from the guys in a while.

I am pretty pumped about the new album, just like all their releases. ISM has to be one of my favorite albums ever, and I kind of want them to at least mix some of that element in the new stuff. I really liked most of EU and Circuital, so I am sure I will like this one too.

Also, the first time I ran through Z, I liked anytime and that was about it. After a few more listens, I loved it. This band will do that to you.

Haha. I won't be in Boston this time but make room for me on the bathroom line at shows during these two.
