Oh, you didn't know?

We all meditate on Jim's private channel.  He's been broadcasting The Waterfall through his mind for a week or so now.  He's such a talented hummer, being able to precisely hit all of the notes that all of the instruments are playing at any given time.  Not to mention the overdubs.

But that's just some of us, i think others downloaded a bootlegged copy when it leaked.

Upon listening to this album A LOT lately, I have to say Spring is probably top 3 for me. Hard to say though.

I'd like for them to open night one of Detroit with Believe (Side A opener), then open night 2 with Spring (Side B opener).

Oh ok, thanks Stevie. I'm not tech savvy (nor a yogi), i don't want to wreck my computer so i'm just hoping for an allowed "first listen" stream from a website soon!!

Stevie

That would be cool.  I bet something like that will pop up eventually.

Great album...

Spring, Infancy, and Tropics are among some of their best songs, ever  PERIOD!!!!!!

Believe, Decisions, Get the Point, River, Only Memories are very strong as well

*Not to be taken seriously*
**just for fun**
After listening to the album a few times, my favorite tracks in order are:

In It's Infancy
Tropics
Only Memories Remain
Spring
Like a River
Thin Line
Compound Fracture
Get to the Point
Believe
Big Decisions

From beginning to the end, really digging the album

I think every time I've listened to it a new song has stuck with me until the next listen.  But if i had to rank them today it would be:

The Waterfall
Tropics
Thin Line
Compound Fracture
Like a River
Spring
Get the Point
Only Memories Remain (It will be a different animal live though)
Big Decisions
Believe

What a great album!!!  I mean Believe is last and I still really enjoy listening to it.  Like the Relix article mentioned, it will be a big one live...very uplifting!  Big Decisions has only gotten better in the context of the rest of the songs.  Just a wonderful, cohesive, sonically beautiful album.

I also want to say... I think Thin Line is going to end up being the biggest sleeper (under appreciated now, but one we all look forward to live after some time).  I see it as Jim raising his freak flag for this album's "weird one."  His vocals remind me of Victoria Legrand (Beach House) and I cannot wait to see him go nuts with what sounds like a very creepy persona.

In Its Infancy = lovechild of Steam Engine (end), The Day Is Coming, and The Wall

Anyone else see it?

My favorite on the album. Love the falsetto, and "nobody loves you except for me" is my favorite lyric on the album.

Thin Line is for sure growing on me with every listen! 'Believe' for some reason reminds me of being a kid and playing Zelda or Super-mario lol. I usually shy away from comparisons but Like a River sounds like Zeppelin meets Fleet Foxes ((in a good way) *also, aware that there would be no fleet foxes without MMJ- thus i should be quite and just say it's a cool f'ing JACKET song and i dig it  )).

Yeah, one listen through I think Thin Line was my least favorite, but I've been listening to it a ton lately. Really growing on me.

My experience exactly...

Something about "only memories remain" that makes me think I have heard it before. I kind of feel like it doesn't have anything that clearly makes it stand out as a classic.

after several listens to the album, i kinda feel this way too.  i can't help but feel a little let down after all the talk of this being up there with Dondante or Steam Engine.

i reserve the right to change my mind after seeing this live, of course.

I respectfully disagree , its my favorite off the album. I could see how the Dondante and Steam Engine comparisons could be a letdown though. It doesn't rise and fall/ebb and flow in the same way as those songs- it's a more subtle slow-burner..That's what's great about this album though, it's well-rounded and we all have varied opinions on the best songs lol

Cheers

I saw it live and we SWORE it was a cover. Certain parts are very reminiscent of the Beatles' Don't Let Me Down.
God sure baked a lot of fruitcake, baby.

Had a long flight to and from India for business this past week and did several straight-through runs of the album at full volume with noise canceling headphones.

Would I lose my Jacket-cred if I admitted that it has become my favorite MMJ album?

I think it is truly a breakthrough. Evil Urges and Circuital attempted to take the band somewhere new, but always felt like they were more a collection of songs than a cohesive work. But The Waterfall is a feast for the senses.

Can't wait for the vinyl to arrive!

Headphones are the game changer...I feel like Jon Stewart from Half Baked..."You've heard The Waterfall, but have you ever heard The Waterfall on headphones?"
Don't you ever turn it off

agreed on Thin Line.  I didn't like it much at first yet it was stuck in my head constantly.
Its kinda got a James Bond theme song vibe to it.

and the out to see line is delivered to perfection

Thin Line reminds me of the Beach Boys. Lest anyone wonder, that is a great thing!

I was pretty meh on these songs the first time through. They didn't wow me. But now that I've heard them a few times, they are as good as anything they've ever put out IMO.

So looking forward to some of these songs live.
