Mogwai

Have you seen the French horror TV series, The Returned (A&E has a US/Canadian version on now, but don't watch it). Mogwai does the music score for the France series and it is a co-star. Awesome stuff, and the show is freakin' great slow-burn, with fantastic acting.

I never did see that.  I got the soundtrack, which is awesome, and reading the premise it sounds really cool.  They can do such a broad range of sound, and I love that they keep that early Pink Floyd spirit alive in that way, where they have great songs, but can also adapt to ambient or ethereal situations.

Totally agree.  Mogwai can go from insanely loud and bombastic to quiet and glacial, and be totally awesome doing either.
Cuz it's been so long since someone shattered me.

This was actually kind of hard because I like so much different music, jazz, Motown, etc.

So I kept this more rock.

Most of these I grew up with, some I'm still growing with. No particular order:

Beatles
Grateful Dead
Bob Dylan
David Bromberg
MMJ
Black Sabbath
Elton John
Hot Tuna
Allman Brothers
The Clash

Also funny to note MMJ has covered most of these bands!!
