At first sight I thought the Orlando one was pretty rad, even cooler that they did a small number of foils only available at the show. The only thing that turned me off was that after browsing his site, he has previously done a couple almost identical to this for art posters of his and another band poster just like this.

Yep. I wasn't real crazy about this one at first, liked it a little better after seeing it up close but then got really turned off by the very things you've mentioned. I could understand doing similar ones for the same band during a stand of shows but to do such similar posters for three different bands is weak IMO. Throw in the two similar Art posters, and it just soured me completely on this one.

This one is destined for the back of my Itoya portfolio, and doubtful it ever sees the light of day.

I try to keep my posts here on the positive side, but I definitely agree with you, and wanted to add my two cents. Bummed we both aren't crazy about the poster, but it's good to know I'm not the only one who feels this way about it. I thought maybe I was being a bit too critical in my thinking.
It seems Duval has repeated his work, to some degree, before.  I noticed an art print looked mighty similar to the Monsters of Folk print he did for the Boston show.

Yeah I saw this too yac. It does seem that he has a wide variety of style though.

While I've definitely seen better Nate Duvall posters, I think i'd be pretty happy if that was the poster for  a show I was at. Fung's work however is much more hit or miss IMO.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

The MOF one or the Orlando one? If it's Orlando, I gotta disagree with you there. He does have some real nice gig posters, unfortunately Orlando isn't one of them,IMO.

i see the point that some of his work repeats but Nate's Tame Impala posters of late are pretty awesome.

i'm glad the band is selecting a variety of artists this run

Yeah the Orlando one. Pittsburgh's poster this year (last couple times actually) was pretty weak, just barely liked it enough to buy it. I would've rather had something by Nate Duvall.

The Year of Reno, I'm loving it! Thought Burwell would get the nod for red rocks

Nice, thought RR was gonna be another EMEK.  Although I was secretly hoping for a Jeff Wood or Chuck Sperry.

Stumbled upon this... Already loved this print as it was, but this looks like a real beauty. And of course I caved even at the $95. And I don't feel bad about it one bit!

Just got my St. Augustine back from getting framed. For now I've been going with a basic black frame just to keep all my posters consistent.

Double matte with a blue/ green on the outside and a deep orange inside. Pretty funny the blue was labeled "Waterfall"!  I only wish the artist gave a little more white border on top, and bottom. The only way to mount it to a matte was by cutting off his name/sig, and poster number. It barely left enough to mount as it was. Only about  1/8th on both the top and bottom.

All in all though, I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out.
