It is a helluva lineup and easily in my opinion the best of any festival going this year.
Having said that Jazz fest kills me because the actual music on the fair grounds ends at 7 PM... and it also always has the worst conflicts of any other festival. All headliners always go on during the same time slots.

Having to choose between Mule or Steely Dan the first Friday would be torture for me.
Similar to Paul Simon or MMJ.

The real question is how the late night club grids pan out, that to me is the real reason to go to Jazzfest.. if they are weak i'll likely go with my gut and see MMJ at Red Rocks over going to a fest this year.

Great lineup, unfortunately going to first weekend only for buddy's bach party.

(Still going to be a blast tho)

Wait, so what time do headliners usually start at Jazz fest? Sounds like it's early

Very early. MMJ would probably start around 5PM and be done by 7. Headlining legacy acts might start a little earlier for a longer set, pop acts a bit later.

MMJ and Paul Simon on at the same time is brutal.

Sure is, last time I went to JF MMJ and Simon and Garfunkle conflicted, I left MMJ halfway through.. what a mistake that was.
Having said that and having seeing him before, Paul Simon solo is much more appealing than Simon and Garfunkel.

My wife and I just booked our trip for the 2nd weekend of Jazzfest!  This will be our first time going.  Super psyched for the lineup - bummed that I am probably going to miss MMJ to see Pual Simon, but that's just the way it is.  Very stoke to see Neil Young with Promise of the Real on Sunday, as we missed them here in Los Angeles.  We are planning to go the Jazzfest Friday/Sunday and spend the rest of the week busking around the French Quarter and Frenchmen St and hopefully picking up at least one gig through some contacts we have.  This is gonna be a great week!

It's killing me that I have to leave town the DAY BEFORE the Jacket takes the stage at the Fairgrounds, but what can ya do?!

I've got a couple extra JazzFest tickets for the first weekend, so if any of y'all are in New Orleans and want entrance to the Fairgrounds on me, let me know! You can e-mail me at carsoni4 at hotmail dot com. I am leaving from Toronto tomorrow morning and can meet you any day outside the gates! Can't wait to get groovin'!
