OK, gettin' this thread back to it's original subject:

The two "Early Recordings" volumes are now titled:

- "Chapter 1: The Sandworm Cometh: Early Recordings"
- "Chapter 2: Learning: Early Recordings"

And the "At Dawn & Tennessee Fire Demos" CD release has been moved to March 7, 2005! The Darla website says: "We will make this title available as soon as possible. The band wants to hold formal release of this one for just a little while longer. No worries tho' it won't be forever!"

MMJ_fanatic

wtf?  well are the other 2 at least sticking to their release date?

Why would they want that?  ???
The titles are pretty groovy, though...

MY MORNING JACKET: Chapter 2: Learning: Early Recordings
COMING 11/15/04

The Darla archives contain many unreleased early My Morning Jacket recordings, the best of which have been compiled for release along side all the hard to find favorites previously available only on singles and compilations only. MY MORNING JACKET: At Dawn & Tennessee Fire Demos
COMING 3/7/05

We will make this title available as soon as possible. The band wants to hold formal release of this one for just a little while longer. No worries tho' it won't be forever! When we originally released My Morning Jacket's epic At Dawn the first 2500 CD and 1000 LP came with a bonus demos disc, which was like another At Dawn in itself. This has long been out of print now and we frequently receive requests for it. The beloved demos disc will be available once again with the addition of seven choice demo versions from The Tennesee Fire sessions as well. Track list: 1. The Way That He Sings (demo version) 2. Hopefully (demo version) 3. Just Because I Do (demo version) 4. Bermuda Highway (demo version) 5. Lowdown (demo version) 6. Honest Man (demo version) 7. At Dawn (demo version) 8. I Needed It Most (demo version) 9. Lead Me Father (demo version) 10. Phone Went West (demo version) 11. Chills (demo version) 12. Just Because I Do (version 1) 13. Heartbreakin Man (version 1) 14. Evelyn (version 1) 15. The Bear (version 2) 16. If All Else Fails (version 1) 17. Picture Of You (version 1) 18. I Think I'm Going To Hell (version 1)

J*s*s Chr*st, what's the problem here? Is it so hard to put some songs that have already been released and are just gathering dust in some closet somewhere on a disc, make some artwork and then dump it in a record store for eager fans to spend their money on? They're old songs! Most of them have already been released, so what's the big deal in just repeating that? Have they totally forgotten how to do that over there at Darla? Or is it, perhaps, some legal thing, with ATO trying to get their share as well and the two labels not being able to find a satisfying compromise? Hey, we could have collected all that stuff for ourselves by now, gentlemen...  >:(

i just got At Dawn with the demos disc. its a great album, but don't worry about the demo disc that much.  its cool to see how the songs evolve but the recording quality isn't that great and the overall performance is alittle lacking.  i plan on getting the early recordings disc, but the demo's are essential in one man's opinion.

I do not agree here. Alright, 'essential' is perhaps not the word, but the recording quality is only really lo-fi on the demo of 'At dawn' the song and even there I kinda like it. Also, the performance is quite alright and even chilling on the 'Phone went west' demo, plus that disc contains one of the most haunting songs in their entire oeuvre, the apt titled 'Chills'!

Still, this is just one man's opinion. :)

peanut butter puddin surprise

If only for "Chills", the demo disc is essential.  The abandoned-mine-shaft-echo-chamber-vocal-treatment-reverb-the-size-of-Montana is pretty neato too.  Sounds like he's singing into the hold of a ship or something...

"Chills...down my spine..."

That song definately makes the cd worth owning and paying a little extra to get it.  However, I also believe the entire cd is worth listening to.  I'm assuming it will be similar quality on the two that are coming out on the 15th?

Some of the song titles on those cd's already sound amazing...i'm especially looking forward to "Good nights in other beds."

katkillad

looks like possible cover art on the website...doesn't really look mmj style.

Oz

No, you're right that it's not the usual MMJ style, katkillad, but still, I think they look mighty cool nevertheless! Bit weird. Wich is what I like. :)

There is however still one question unanswered: will these two hit the shops in Holland and Belgium? Is there a European distributor, hence?
