love this song.  anyone else hear the Hawaii Five O and smoe Steely Dan in it?  yes, I cheated and downloaded Z.  and, i must say that I am pleasantly surpirsed after being a bit dissapointed with ISM.  That is all i am going to say.

I enjoy "off the record" too.  It is fun.

i think just about everyone hears Hawaii Five-0 in the opening riff. I also think this track is the closest that the album gets to "pop".  I think some people might have a problem with this song for those reasons, but I think it's all in good fun. ;)

Yes indeed, "Off The Record" is my favorite of all the new songs they have performed so far. For those who have heard the new record, do any of the tracks sound similar to ISM or other favorites?

TheLink

I think that maybe Lay Low, and maybe one other song.  Other than that, this is a totally new and quite cool sound for them.  Like I said, I was certainly pleasantly surprised knowing that it was going to be quite different.  I had previously stated that At Dawn was my favorite album.  Bold statement, but this does a lot more for me than ISM.

Oh, and I assumed everyone heard the Hawaii Five O in the song.  A lot of other previous riffs seemed to be in there too.  Nevertheless, a very fun a listenable song.

Both of the shows that I've seen started off with 'Off the Record' - it's a great song with a very upbeat tune to kick a show off - the thing that makes the song so great to me is how it slowly breaks down...
