Any body have any idea why they would be on "Bloodshot Records Compilations - For A Decade of Sin: 11 Years of Bloodshot Records?"  Also anyone ever heard the song that is on it? Behind That Locked Door (My Morning Jacket)... what are everyone's thoughts

My copy is still on order from Amazon.com! Fuck them & their "usually ships in 24hrs" bullshit!!!  >:(

John Leckie worked on All Things Must Pass, one of Jim's favourite Albums.
Rumour has it Jim recorded the whole album a few years ago.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

you can hear a short clip on itunes store

Finally got my copy today!

It's a great song but as a cover version it's not amazing.

Don't get me wrong, I like it a lot but like the original more & MMJ's version doesn't add much, it's just slowed down a little.

My personal view is if you're going to do a cover you've got to add something, change it & make it unique somehow.
Some might disagree, fair enough, that's just my 2Yen.

Jim's version of Rocket Man, for example, took a very produced song & stripped it down to it's bare beautiful bones.

So if you don't have the original then this is an excellent introduction to an amazing George Harrison Album (I've not listened to the rest of the album yet but have lots of bloodshot records)

If you're new to MMJ & need a new fix that's not on the albums or are strapped for cash go with a MMJ EP (Xmas Fiasco is my fav!) or Where To Begin from the Elizabethtown Soundtrack.

If, like me, you're a MMJ completist you'll buy it anyway & love it to pieces!  :)

Behind That Locked Door was originally released by Jim in 2000 for a CD to benefit the Rudyard Kipling, a bar / playhouse in Louisville.  I haven't heard this Bloodshot Records compliation so I don't know if they used that track again or if it's from the George Harrison album Jim recorded last year.  The version I have is very, very good though, which is why I really want to hear the rest of the George Harrison album!

I just bought the song on iTunes.  It is slowed down, isn't it?  Hmm.

Oh well, I still like it.

Can you buy a song from iTunes if you have neither an iPod, or a Mac?

Pretty sure you can, yes.
I don't have either. I'm pretty sure you just need to download itunes.
Who does lots of music downloading, Tom?

Dee.

Yeah, you only need iTunes.  It gives you the song as a protected m4p file, so you have to play the song in iTunes or Quicktime.  You can burn the song to cd right from within iTunes.  There are ways to convert it to mp3 as well.

I'm very pleased that you've been laughing out loud.  I'm in a pretty good mood, plus I'm about to go and see that band that I was talking about in the "What Show Did You Just See" thread again, and that makes me feel happy.  Also, we got not only one, but TWO cab drivers to freestyle rap with us on Friday night.  One of them said, as we were leaving "Keep spreading this love, my friends!"

And I promised I would try.

Bloodshot Records Compilations.  I'm pretty excited about this song.  Is it the whole band or just Jim?

I feel like there's a new song springin' out every week.

Dee.

Scroll down a bit on this blog and you will find a very interesting mp3.

thanks for the link, deanna.  Just thought I let you all know that is the version recorded about five years ago for the Rud, not a newer recording from the unreleased GH album.  Great track though!
