Oh lord!

I wish you were hear so I could hug you.

This list is going straight to a word document for printing and analyzing.

Holy shit.

Are you talking Harrison studio recordings that may be actually released by the band?  or live covers on a disc that may be released by the band? neither? would you have to kill me?  still, let me know, I wil think about it.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

BH

oh, and do we have to hire a private investigator to look for this Ger fellah? ;)

maybe, he's hard to get a hold of.  I've traded with him in the past and it took him months to get back to me.  I'm sure he'll come through when he gets around to checking his email.

Re the Harrison album, I'm not sure how much more I should tell.  I may have more info on it later.

SpacedCowboy

That George Harrison album must be amazing.  All things must Pass is one of my all time favorite albums, and the version of Behind That Locked Door just makes me want more.  Ive decided i hate waiting for things.

I now have Jim's cover of All the Best by John Prine.  I've updated the list.  It sounds good, too.  More to come, hopefully.  I'm still looking for an attack plan on how to host this.  I'm thinking I'll make a website for the compilation.  Anyone want to help me pay for it?  Or does anyone know of any good sites that will host over 600MB for pretty cheap?

Thanks guys. Okay so it looks like I'll be setting up a website to host the collection and the list (pending approval from above).  It'll be a little more work and cost a bit to maintain but it'll probably be better than anyother option because I can edit the list and add songs as they come in.  Speaking of which, I just got 3 speed by the Eels to the surface.

Can you set up a paypal account or something & everyone pays a few bucks? Happy to contribute MD, keep up the good work  :)
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking.  I found a site that will host up to 1gig for the year for $5 a month with no sign up fee if you pay for the year.  So sixty dollars would get this thang on the web for a year.  I would appreciate a few small donations to help out.  Thanks again guys, I'll keep yas updated.

Just a quick technical question:
Are all of the mp3s gonna be the same bitrate? I know that's probably a nerdy question, but I'm curious. I'm looking forward to it either way.

aMD

woah.  aahhh...  right right.
it looks like they are at a variety of bitrates.  Does it matter?  This probably isn't what you want to hear, corey, but I'm not too picky about audio formats or bitrates in that I don't really think about it.  I was actually thinking about having some in mp3 format and others in m4u, instead of convert m4us over.  Should I be thinking more about this kind of stuff?

corey

It's no big deal, really. It's just me being picky. But you may consider it (if you are like me) once I point out my reason for asking.

If they are different bitrates, it may cause some volume discrepancies if someone makes a mixed CD out of a bunch of the songs. For example, Song 1 may be at 128 kbps and Song 2 may be at 320 so there will probably be a noticeable volume change from one to the next that can be kind of distracting and disrupt the flow of the mix....

But like I said, that was just me being picky and wondering.* I know I sure wouldn't want to convert them all to one constant bitrate.  That's a lot of damn work.  :)

*Also, the mastering level on the mp3s and tracks that you have collected are all going to be different to begin with because they are all coming from different sources. It may be worth it to try to contrast 2 completely different bitrates just to see if it's gonna make that much of a difference.

(But like I said, I'm excited either way).  Just wanted to throw that out there.

Dylan, you should change your forum name to "Hunting Food" (as in Two-Tone's mantra).  ;)

thanks for the kind words guys.  I actually need to update the tabs page but I'm so wrapped up in this covers comp it might be a bit before I get around to it.  Right now I'm still waiting for an okay to go ahead with the website.  If the okay comes I'll get started on creating the page and I'll post info for my paypal account for those of you who are nice enough to help a brother out.  Thanks again, I'll keep yas posted when I know something else.
