QuoteYeah. Deal with it. You're one of us...one of us...one of us... :D

Ah, this feels like home  ;)

I'M STARTING TO FLIP OUT...I NEED MORE MMJ. I'M READY FOR THE NEXT RELEASE. I NEED A LIVE FIX NOW...I CAN'T LAST UNTIL BOSTON. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE THAT I WAS EXCITED FOR SUMMER TO END...NOW I KNOW HOW A CRACK HEAD FEELS.

I developed Jacketitis about a year ago.  Somehow I didn't catch it right away from It Still Moves back when I got it in '06.  But then last summer, I picked up The Tennessee Fire, At Dawn & Z and I was full blown.  Still infected and it's gotten worse.  And I'm sitting here at work listening to Evil Urges and wondering how it's possible that every song on it is extremely catchy.  Jim is a madman.  I blame him for this.  Thanks, Jim.  Seriously, thank you.

I totally have Jacektitis... I have had it for about 2 years now but it has really gotten out of control since the Radio City show. I have never been into a band this hard before. All I want to do is listen to MMJ and turn other people onto them. I almost feel like I am an apostle for MMJ, LOL. I bartend on the weekends and the Jukebox has a tone of MMJ. Most of it you have to download, which costs extra but I don't give a shit. I'll play a bunch of jacket tunes and blast it real loud on a Friday night (we have a tight sound system). I like to sit back for a bit and watch how people react. I usually play songs off of OKONOKOS. I feel their live sound is the best way to turn people onto them. I usually play Off the Record, One Big Holiday and Run Thru to start.  Then I'll start up a conversation with people at the bar and ask if they have ever heard of MMJ. Most people haven't, so I highly recommend them to pick up OKONOKOS and to go see them live. I feel that this the best place to start. What do you think? So far I think I have converted a few, but I don't think they have Jacketitis yet.

By the way, I have recently found another band that I have become addicted to besides MMJ. Fleet Foxes are amazing! Do yourself a favor and pick up their self entitled album. They also have an EP, "Sun Giant ". Both are excellent. I just found them about 2 weeks ago and it has been refreshing to listen to some good new music. However, I still need my daily fix of MMJ.

Grateful Chabo

ive had jacketitis since bonnaroo 04 dvd where they rocked out on one big holiday...this beautiful sickness doesnt go away

Penny Lane

i had mild symptoms during bonnaroo 05' but the actual disease itself wasn't full blown until Roseland Ballroom 06'=the NYE announcement has just caused another downward spiral that i can't be responsible for... the verve message board i've neglected tried to do an intervention to get me back but we'll see....i told jeff van gundy and crew i need to do it in my time (inside joke for those of you who watching 'intervention')
but come on...there's nothing sexy about poop. Nothing.  -bbill

I'm a Jacket-oholic...I just can't live without Jacket-ohol.

The DARK

I'm in the thick of Jacketitis right now. One symptom is that nearly all the "other" music that I listen to is from artists that the Jacket has covered or toured with.
In another time, in another place, in another face

It's starting to get bad...and NYE is still over six weeks away. My hours of listening to MMJ has increased, which I didn't think was possible. I'm starting to show bumps on my ears...I'm worried I might not last

It's bad when you're trying to catch an archive.org in the middle of "work" or "schoolwork". Priorities Schmiorities.
Evey: Are you, like, a crazy person?
V: I am quite sure they will say so.

Was introduced to them by a friend about 3 years ago, I quickly owned as much of these guys as I could find, then soon forgot there was other music.

My name is jeff, i'm a jacket-addict

I am relatively new to the jacket- the obsession came on strong this past june... it has yet to let go, and i never want it to.  I listen to them in the car, at home, working out, sleeping, and showering.  I try to get everyone I know into them.  I saw them at RCMH, Philly, and eventually on NYE.  I'm having a hard time waiting... my mind continually gets blown.  Every time i think I know their music, I stumble upon a new song and my obsession deepens...

my name is Mike and I am proud to have Jacketitis
Oh I'll never say I knew you, but my heart can't wait to meet you on the other side

Seems like the only cure is a live show, but then you have to deal with the serious withdrawals afterwards...

It's comforting to know this is a real condition.  I was starting to worry.

The full obsession/consuming of my music listening started only this year and I'm yet to see them live. NYE will be my first time. (Tee Hee.)

The excitement is so intense that I thought of the possible withdrawal and am even more worried knowing that it actually happens. Yikes.

QuoteIt's not as bad as alcoholism (because people don't get hurt and you won't die from it) but Jacketitis is a serious disease that won't go away and affects the people around you.  If they don't know what you're talking about, or they "get it" but not quite like you do, then they start to be mad at you and accuse you of not loving them as much as "that GD band."  They might tell you that you need serious help, and that you should see someone...join a group.  That's where we come in.

My name is Toby...and I am a Jacket-holic.

Because of this guy, I am now a Jacket-holic as well.  I listen to the Jacket all the time.  If I try to listen to something else, I go right back in about 30 minutes.  Thanks alot Toby.

That's totally funny.  I leisten to archive at work all the time.  I am goingg back listening to the really old stuff trying to find snippets of things said.  IT is wonderful to listen to all the radio interviews.  I feel like it gives me a new fix that I crave for more.

Came down with Jacket-itis after seeing them at Lolla in 2007.

Since then I listened to "Z" and "It Still Moves", until "Evil Urge" dropped on June 10.
Got "Okonokos" for Father's Day.
Saw MMJ's Homecomig Celebration by the Ohio River in Derby-town in August.
Downloaded it two days later.

Except for a little of the new Kings of Leon, I have listened to MMJ daily for over a year now.

2008 has truly been the "Year of the Jacket" for me.  Hope Jim James feels better fast and they close it out right on NYE in NYC.

QuoteI consider myself more of a Jacket slave or zombie--I hear their music and my mind shuts down as my body is earnestly drawn to the sound and I attempt to climb into the speaker and meld with the vibrations therein.

Note to Riny--we need a zombie smiley...
+1. Kind of like when you take a cat by the scruff of the neck and it goes limp.

Jacketitis strikes at any moment. I'll think I'm cured and then put iTunes on party shuffle. A song like "It Makes No Difference" (happened yesterday!  :)) will come on and suddenly I'm at the computer picking the next Jacket tune...
But seein you feels good, and its always understood.
That anything much sweeter would make me die.
