I think I have Jacketitis. Every since I was introduced to MMJ (only 6 months ago) I have forgotten about all my other music. This has never happened to me, and I consider my music taste to be very rich and eclectic. If you look at my CD collection you'll find many different genres (I like them all). But ever since my ears heard the voice of JJ and the power of the boys, I can't stop listening to them. Is this something to worried about, or is this the norm for MMJ fans? :-/

Clarkwork

It is normal and does not go away.  I still have it 5 or 6 years later after I first discovered them.  The feeling it is wonderful, I hope they never turn it off...
If you don't know for yourself, how could you ever know for me....

I read this title "Jacket-titties" and thought it was some sort of ballsy appreciation thread for all of the hot chicks that like the Jacket.

I was introduced to the band in late 2001 (I remember because it was my first semester of college), and no, it never goes away. If anything, as the catalog has grown its gotten worse. There is always at the very least 2 MMJ cd's in my car and home disc changer.
Say friend, you got any more of that good sasparilla?

I was introduced to them with Z, and since then it has never stopped, although there will be varying degrees of how "sick" as well as "contagious" you will be through out the years.  Since EU leaked, I have almost completely stopped listening to everything except mmj.

mymonkeyfriend

Sorry man, once you get hooked on MMJ, its over. they are auditory crack. I started listening in 2001, and it has progressively gotten worse. they are always in the car, and i always feel like the next time i hear them, i may need a break. but then i listen, and i end up finding something new. with the EU coming out, it will get worse. i like to think i have good music taste, and always look for more stuff to listen to. i always come back to the jacket.

Jahmazed

Ever since a friend played Okonokos for me I've been hooked.. they get at least half of my listening time still.  I was listening to EU this morning and got chills thinking about how sick the Radio city show is going to be!!!  :D

It's not as bad as alcoholism (because people don't get hurt and you won't die from it) but Jacketitis is a serious disease that won't go away and affects the people around you.  If they don't know what you're talking about, or they "get it" but not quite like you do, then they start to be mad at you and accuse you of not loving them as much as "that GD band."  They might tell you that you need serious help, and that you should see someone...join a group.  That's where we come in.

My name is Toby...and I am a Jacket-holic.

I was really bad for my first 6 months of discovering the band.  I mean, all I did was listen to The Jacket.  All I did was make Jacket mixes.  All I did was talk about The Jacket (especially when I was drunk).

Now - I just love them more than anything...and while I listen to them more than any other band, I have gotten back into listening to other bands.  But those first 6 months were intense and kinda scary.
God damn those shaky knees.

mymonkeyfriend

hi toby.

i have a bad habit of talking about them to death when i am drunk. my fiance gets tired of me talking about them, as do most of my friends. at least the ones that arent afflicted yet. all my mixes involve them alot, and i push them on other people like crack.

Hi Toby...

My name is Ben...and I am a Jacket-holic as well...welcome to the group.

Broski

Great to know there are others out there.  It's nice we're able to have "group meetings" (Jacket shows) every few months!

I do know the feeling and I guess that is why I tear up on the first song of their shows..now matter what it is.  Such a relief to hear the music in person then via these speakers or headphones.

My Jacketitis is more periodic than chronic.

When I first started indulging in the Jacket, it was all fun and games. I had to indulge daily - sometimes in the morning, maybe a nice afternoon after a rough morning, or my favorite nightly good times with the Jacket. I thought at first it was by choice, but little did I know the Jacket was taking me over and I could not help but continue to partake. It now keeps my up late at night, sometimes causes me to not show up to work, and other times makes me say 'fuck that' to doing something that I should probably be doing instead because feeding that monster that is my Jacket addiction just feels too good

I feel this bout of Jacketitis will last for about 4 months until it can finally be relieved by Dr. Jim James in Chicago. My appointment is October 10th, hopefully I dont have to reschedule
The thing is, Bob, it's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care. - Peter Gibbons
