The RCA site says that MMJ will be on Conan on September 18th!

Holy shit!  The jacket is 'bout to blow up!

I'm really looking forward to this! I hope they let it loose. I want to have footage of them that I can show a few Doubting Thomases.

I wonder what song(s) they will play?  Thoughts, anyone?  I'm putting my bets on "Dance Floors" or (crosses fingers) "Run Thru"...

John, I highly doubt it's going to be Run Thru...unless Jim would be willing to say "Oh She'll Run...instead of oh shit run. Last I knew, shit was still a no no on tv.

Dancefloors is probably a good bet..or Magheeta...or maybe even Golden...Just One Thing might be short enough as well.

Who knows...it'll be great no matter which one

You are correct, it will be awesome no matter what tune is played...!

all I can say it is about time the Jacket gets their due....
I am excited they are going to be on Conan but I want to know what the h@!! Conan was waiting for!!

At Dawn is one of the best rock albums of all time - that should have been their ticket to rockstardom

Not that ISM isn't a worthy vessel on which to sail aboard.

peace,

Tim

and I am hoping for Dance Floors, but whatever they play will be incredible

I think that hipkink's on the right track...BE SURE TO TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS HAPPENING! Hell - better yet, sit 'em down with you to watch this Thursday, Sept. 19TH!!!  ::)

This may help all of us in future negotiations with friends who may be unsure about whether they want to go with us to a Jacket concert...Dude...WHAT BETTER WAY FOR US TO SELL THE CONCERT THAN TO GIVE THE FOOLISH DOUBTERS A PREVIEW?  ;)

Love.

mmm, all o you guessed wrong
guess you'll have to find out tomorrow  ;)

hipkink

What?! You know and won't tell us! grrrr. ;) I never guessed, so it's my turn... Maybe they'll play an old one... maybe "The Way That He Sings." Or maybe not... How bout "Master Plan?"

Driving back to the 'ville from the Buffalo show took almost ten hours and gave us plenty of time to discuss such important matters as "What're they going to play on Conan?"

My guess is their label would like them to play something from the new album, and the suits would probably want them to play Mahgeeta or Dance Floors. My own conclusion is that in a television setting where you only get one song, One Big Holiday would work better for the viewers at home.

But Jim is just independent minded enough to play an old release, something unreleased, or even a cover. That's one of the things that make him special. Of course, he's a nice guy who wants to please the folks who've invested in his band, soooooo . . . I suspect it will be something from It Still Moves.

If they decide to go the quieter route instead of a big rocker, I think they might go for Just One Thing.

A big unknown is how much time they will be offered, since virtually all the new songs are more than twice as long as the typical three minute slice of pop.

p.s.
The acoustic songs at the Buffalo Show were spectactular, especially "Hopefully".  The venue in Rochester had TERRIBLE acoustics and both the Sleepy Jacksons and MMJ never had a chance to sound great there.

Quotebigbang is on the right track

Since I covered a lot of territory in that post, I'm not sure which track I was on!

But my guess is One Big Holiday would serve them best in this situation and Jim is smart enough to figure that out. So I'm betting on One Big.

You americans are very lucky.  Once and a while you have the occasion to participate in a mmj contest.  Something, we Europeans can only dream about.  :( But hell, the only things that counts is the music.

Here's to rock 'n roll
