Drums with gummis bears are much more important than Tom's hair.  Although, his bass is glowing, which clearly means God loves him.

His hair probably got tangled up in the bass strings which led to massive hair extraction when headbanging commenced.
That probably left major holes in the do, so its been cut to keep it nice and even.
Maybe I should cut my hair...
