Okay, so I've been frickin stoked about the Nashville show. I get the preorder email, go to the thing, and its 18 and up!!! I understand about legality and curfew and drinking and all, and I'd be a little bit less tweaked if my birthday wasn't just 18 days later. Frickin figures. I hate being seventeen with a passion. Anybody wanna drive up and be my stepdad for a night?

I'll be there, but I'm only 28 and I look like I'm 12.... so I don't think I'll pass as your stepdad. It'd be awesome if you and Specialist can figure out a way to get in because Sweatboard and I will be there.

tomEisenbraun

Do you think there's a way we could get the band to help us out? Does a band have control of that kind of stuff if they want? Should I get a fake ID? How do they check these things? Do they check everyones as they come in?

I'm sure there are ways around it, but it probably involves trickery. I don't think the band would really have any pull in the situation. :(

tomEisenbraun

And they won't have any sympathy on for having a birthday two weeks too late?

Any idea if I could offer to join the road crew for a day and get in cuz of that?
Or help with sound or set-up or anything?

I'd really rather not, but I'm considering it. Damndamndamn. I've sooo been looking forward to this show, but I won't be able to go. Argh. I guess I'll just have to see em back home.

Anybody over 35 goin to this show?

I would just try to go there is a chance they don't check id's.

corey

That's a good point.

There must be somebody. I can't believe there's an age limit at a music event. Is it because of the booze thing? I thought you couldn't drink till you were 21 in the States. I really hope you get someone to 'take you in' Tom.

tomEisenbraun

Yeah, and because i starts at 8, probably. Sometimes there's a curfew deal, because a lot of states have legal curfews for 16 year olds because they are new drivers, or whatever, which is reeeeal applicable to us 17 year olders. I'm glad 18 days makes that big a difference in my maturity. I'll be in college, darnit. 17's just a number.

Wait, do they normally check on 18 and over shows as you go in? I'm plannin on having a beard by that time, do you think they'd check? I've already got a months growth happening, and it looks pretty sturdy.

is their always an age limit for the shows??
i´ve never seen such a thing in germany...and it´s good!

tomEisenbraun

No, a lot of shows don't have age limits unless they are in bars. But I guess that wouldnt make a difference in Germany, since you guys have a really low drinking age, right?

I've been to 18 and up shows before that didn't check for ID.

tomEisenbraun

Do you think my beard will help?

Yes you´re right, in germany it doesn´t make any diefference if they play in a bar or somewhere else. Good for ME!!  ;)
in germany you can drink beer with 16 y, other stuff like wodka, tequila... with 18 y!

I'd just go.  If they ask for your ID, show it to them.  There's a chance they might think you're 18 since it'll be so close to your birthday or they might not care but just have to go through the motions of looking at your ID.  If that doesn't work, linger around back stage and look for a friendly character who's willing to hear your story and let you in.  That's what I would do.  Or if you have a friend that is 18 and looks anything like you, bring their ID as a backup because a lot of times they only look at your birthday and forget to look at your picture.  (I spent a lot of time in bars before I was 21 and never had a fake).

Thankyouthankyouthankyou all so much.

I think I will just buy the ticket, and if all else fails, let her go for a $20 out front.
