Any ideas aside from Viking helmets.   I don't think I can handle two hours of keeping up with that thing.  Can't fucking wait for this show.

It's just the way that he sings

If someone can convince me to do acid again (it's been over 20 years) I'll sport the space suit.

nice. i'll buy you a dose or two just to see this space suit in a social setting.

Sweet Jesus.

And I make an official vote for the viking helmets. You have somewhere safe to set it (on your seat, under your seat) so you aren't gonna lose it. Then we can all just look for helmets afterwards, get organized, and go congregate outside the tour bus singing the men's chorus part from Into the Woods.

It'll be grand.
The river is moving. The blackbird must be flying.

Angry Ewok

I'll be sporting my helmet.
--- and that's 2 real 4 u.

Not gonna be able to make this one. See the "Zappa Plays Zappa" thread in Other Music.

Anu

i just nabbed my Ryman tickets for the balcony

(God--I hope the sound is satisfying up there),

and I am more than a bit giddy and geeked to go to my first "Real" MMJ show (Bonnaroo this year doesn't count for me because I was trying to do the whole festival and left early for Common).

I love to "dress" for shows, but what's up with the helmets. Please clue the newbie in.

When they played at City Hall in Nashville last October, they had a group of guys* come out on stage and sing the end-chorus on "Into The Woods". Some of the guys were wearing viking helmets.
So when they played Rites or Spring in Nashville earlier this year, a group of us from the board all wore viking helmets and rocked out together up by the front gate.

*one of the vikings was Bobby Bare Jr.

I HAVE THE BEST WIFE EVER!!!!!

BEST WIFE EVER!

BEST WIFE EVER!

She just called and said that she ordered us 2 tix for the Ryman!
I had decided that we wouldn't be able to go because we are planning 2 B-day parties in November, then heading to ATL in December for the Zappa Plays Zappa show.
She went to see the Indigo Girls at the Ryman last night and decided that it would be wrong for me not to be able to see MMJ there, so she ordered us tix. I'm pretty sure she's in love with the place.

SHE'S THE BEST!

that's great Corey! I can't wait for this show, it really is a dream come true.
Hold my life until I'm ready to use it

corey

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I walked around with a ridiculous grin most of yesterday.

Jacket Fanatic

Got my tickets in the mail from Ticketbastard today. I dont know if I can wait this long, it's killing me.

Anu

I've seen some great shows at the Ryman.

Last year, Ben Harper was truly exquisite.

But I've only ever been on the floor.

Anyone know what it's like from the balcony?

Specialist

if you're not in the first 14 rows, then the balcony is the place to be, it has a great view no matter where you are.

Is there anyone in the Nashville area who would be willing to loan some floor space, couch, or bed to Brad (angry ewok) and I after the Ryman Show? Just trying to avoid paying for a Hotel and even more a 4+ hour drive back home after the show. I wouldnt mind  bringing a sleeping bag and pillows for a spot on a floor. ;D

George_Savage

I got this crazy idea about three or four weeks ago to try to go to Nashville for this show.   To quote Uncle Tupelo, I Got Drunk and posted here at that time.    Unbeknownest (possibly my favorite word) to me at that time, my old MMJ fanatic-friend Matt aka Mott or Mott the Jacket in Hotlanta came through with a ticket!   Third row!   Unbelievable, truth be known.   But it's true - Ryman Auditorium, crazy to believe.
I'm really looking forward to it.   I wasn't planning on taping here - for one thing, it'd sound terrible from the third row (the tape).    But I am looking forward to meeting some of you Freaks, too.   "We'll party our asses off!" -Doyle in 'Sling Blade'

P. S. Go CARDS!

Hey Alan and Brad, I've got the comfiest sleeping couch in the world, and a nice shag rug on the floor of my living room that are all yours if you like. Let me know.

We just may take you up on that. We will let you know soon.
