What an amazing encore!
Dancefloors & EMR with horns? Shit, you guys are so lucky!
Pleased you had a good show October  :)
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

That show blew me away...i was at their last Avalon show a year ago, and it didn't feel the same at all...maybe it's because i had a great spot this time, maybe I was feeling it more, i don;t know...It just kicked my ass!

The sound, for me where I was, was simply amazing.

Great time.

Can you believe we go Phone Went West and They Ran!?!  Tonight I Want To Celebrate w/ You was a big bonus too and having Boston Horns fill out Dancefloors and Easy Morning Rebel Oh man great stuff.  If only the sound had been better  :(  lots of distortion on Jim's mic and Carl's guitar.  Maybe being right up next to the stage messed it up for me--was anyone here farther back in the room?  If so how was the sound out there?
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

i was about three people back from the stage.  i agree, the sound got a little muddled at times.  i couldn't hear jim's guitar during the laylow solo, nor during parts of dondante.

anyway, great show.  Phone Went West was a huge highlight, as was most of the encore, and Lowdown.

i was hoping for one or two more old songs or acoustic numbers and of course a Steam Engine, but i think i'll have to wait for the boys at another venue.  curse the avalon and its early curfew.

anyway, MMJ is still the best band on the planet.

MyMorningBongHit

I was about 10-15 feet in front of the soundboard and the sound was great for me.  I didn't notice any distortion and I could hear everything clearly.  It was a bit loud but that's to be expected.  There were a couple tapers by the SBD and I think those tapes should come out pretty good judging from the sound where I was.

Awesome show though.  I saw them as openers twice and this was my first time seeing them headline so I was used to seeing them in bigger venues.  They didn't disappoint.. can't wait to see them again.

lay lowwww

it was so fun and funny, i wanted to cry!
there was nothing disappointing,
but i have to say,
who was the guy who peed? jim thought it was cool : )

"in the 1700's...John H. Airplane invented the airplane"
mmm...ber.

bridget

I'm sorry, peed?

Could you expand on that please? And John H. Airplane? :)

October

jim told two funny stories:

1) he talked about how the Avalon used to be this old warehouse for model airplanes and how they were invented by John H. Airplane

2) during the encore he told the audience he got wind that somebody was caught peeing in the crowd and that he was glad we were comfortable enough to laugh at that, carl was cracking up

MMJ_fanatic

It was supposedly their monitor guy Dave that got caught peeing.  It was funny because I had that thought running through my head earlier--I had to pee but did not want to leave the room and had contemplated surreptitiously doing it in my drink cup...but I held out figuring that would get me kicked out if seen.  Thank God I sweat out most of the alcohol to allow my bladder to hold up :D

As far as the sound stufff goes--maybe I was just too close...

I loved Jim's Skeleton boots--leftover form Halloween maybe?  Anybody else see him wearing these on the road?

stucky

He was wearing those on Conan.
I was never that good with the words, anyway

Good show. The sound from the upper deck was OK.. Not as good as you would expect at the Avalon.

It might have been me being too far away, but was Jim slightly drunk? Or does he always throw stuffed animals in the air and attempt to catch them with one hand during songs?

A fun time overall, great selections of tunes. Phone Went West was my highlight. As soon as I saw the horns come out, I knew we'd be hearing Easy Morning.

The last 2 times I saw them in Boston (Pops and the Garden), I thought were better than last night, but that is just my opinion.

Stuffed? No, they're usually alive. Maybe he was drunk...

I think he was just feeling goofy--or maybe he's feeling sick again and he was hopped up on OTC decongestant  :o

I was in the second row.....awesome.
Wordless Chorus with the disco ball....incredible.
I don't know why I'm typing....like this.

He was joking when he said the monitor guy was the one peeing. How do I know this? Because I'm the one who got peed on, and the peer was some 50-ish year old, short, stocky, graying drunkard. I was standing in the back right corner, near the sound boards, in front of the stairs to get off the floor and towards the bathrooms. About 3 songs in, this guy who was absolutely wasted made his way back there to try to get to the bathroom. I guess he wasn't able to make it through the throngs, because a few minutes later I felt what felt like a vibrating cell phone on my shoe. It took me a minute to realize I had just been pissed on....the last thing I was expecting was to be peed on in public. I confronted the guy and was so close to decking him, but it was only a few songs in and there was no way I was going to miss the show. I said something to a security guard and the thought it was hilarious and said it was too crowded for him to go get the guy. I told one of the girls in the back selling beer about it and she started telling everyone, so I guess that's how the band heard about it. I decided to just enjoy the show and was laughing hysterically when Jim called him out on stage. We turned around to watch him then and the guy outright bolted out during the story, shoving his way towards the exit. I ran into him again outside about half an hour after the show and got some cash out of him for new shoes (not nearly enough, but he only had a $20 on him....what do you expect from a guy who pees in crowds?). I hit home with a comment about an ex-wife and estranged kids and he drunkenly stormed off again.

All in all, a great show.
