I'm glad they're playing "Phone Went West" again.

There was no "It Beats 4 U" on 11/28 at 9:30 as previously stated.

Although did anyone hear them teasing it before the OBH Opener?

robbieg

For sure.
You mentioned that there was no It Beats, which is correct, but was there something else in its place or will I have to wait till the shows are on etree to figure that one out?

Anybody happen to know the instument/device/thingy that Jim was playing during "Tonight I Want..."

I enjoyed both shows, but thought they were just more "on" the first night, seemed to be having fun, etc.  Was really looking forward to finally seeing "Steam Engine" but was disappointed (especially the way it seemed to fall apart at the end)

The Mighty Jim James has become to powerful for 9:30.  Those speakers can't handle his voice!!

UNCswim, i did meet ya man, always worht the drive from N.C.!!

They actually moved the stage a foot  or 2 back the 2nd night.

I'm with you on your feelings about the first night. It was absolutly ill and last night seemed to be lacking some of the cohesion that the first had. Still, it was nice to get a few more oldies in that we didn't get to hear the first night. Overall though, I would say they didn't disappoint either night, especially if you got to go to both, the second night was a nice way to close it all out. Although I do feel bad for all those people who traded their Monday night tickets for Tuesday night tickets (saw a bunch of that on Craigslist).

I think the weak crowds in D.C. can really hurt such an energetic show like MMJ puts on. I am totally used to the blank stares and minor head bobbing, but its like everyone thinks they are too good to move their asses for a few hours and give into the music. It certainly wasn't like that when I saw The Roots and the Pharcyde a few months ago, people were all sorts of into it.

I'm going to agree that the first night was better, though i was in a much better mood and much better rested on the first night, so that might have had a bit to do with it.

I think my favorite part might have been watching Patrick playing in the strobe lights during the breack down in Run Thru.  But getting to hear a good number of older songs was nice as well.

QuoteOn the flip side, I thought the crowd was very attentive--very little talking.  They were into it...just not physically so.  :)

On the second night i ended up spending the first part of the show behind some large guys who were talking about middle relievers for some baseball team.  So i couldn't see and was too distracted by their talk.  No worries though i ran back took a piss grabbed a beer and pushed my way up front.  Made it to about 4 feet off the barrier.  Though on the first night I was about 10 feet from Jim with a perfect view of the whole band jumping and screaming with all my might.  I was totally loving life and made a few converts out of some friends too - there is just so much to be said for seeing MMJ live - it is how they won me over at first.

i couldn't agree more!  i love that song from the first time i heard it!  When i saw that song pop up on set list for this tour i was praying to god they would play it at roseland.

it may have been the best song of the night.  I'm curious however, does Jim sometimes sing it without the band

Seems like the second night at the Filmore is a little short on songs compared to the other nights.  Can someone confirm this?
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

That's awesome!  I would've done the exact same thing.

Here's a link to all mmj shows pre '05.
No stats though and using the search won;t weild any meaningful results.
Well, this post is two months old, but just read it ...

It's  a simple search engine, but if you would read the explanation how the search engine works, I'm sure you will get meaningful results! 8-)

While posting now, I would like to thank everyone involved in compiling the setlists since 2005, they were a big big help for expanding the showfinder!

Anyhow, I have plans to rewrite the showfinder sometime, but I don't know when it will be finished ...

Now I'm off again ...
