The Boar

This is how we dressed up. We went with the San Francisco during the Gold Rush theme. Left to right: I'm a miner, my brother is a drunk miner who got up in the middle of the night to have a movement (he was drunk after this pic), my other brother was one of San Francisco's many Chinese in the 1840's (he got a glue on Fu Man Chu 'stache after this pic was taken) and my wife went the Laura Ingalls Wilder route.

I can't describe how much fun we had. The memories are rushing back as I listen to this now. GOOD TIMES!

But seein you feels good, and its always understood.

I was front row center with Yvon and couldn't have described the night any better.

These were my first three MMJ shows and now I can't wait for the next one.  I certainly hope the Fillmore invites them back for another NYE extravaganza.  They put their heart and soul into every minute of that evening.  I have seen a lot of shows at the Fillmore over the years - it is my neighborhood venue.  I don't remember ever feeling so full of joy and thankfullness before, during and after a show in that building.  I echo what others have said about the great vibes throughout the evening.  Everyone seemed to be on the same page - security, staff, crowd, crew and of course, the band.  I have never seen so many content and spirited people at a live show - even the security was smiling and tossing up balloons!

What other band could combine so many different elements into one night?  There was theater, costumes, set design, special effects, amazing lighting, along with three plus hours of solid music which included surprise covers, live rarites, guest horns and Jim James interpretive dancing.  The cover songs were played so well and with genuine feeling - I can't believe how well they worked right after midnight.

I am so thankful to everyone who was involved in the planning of the NYE show.  It was a spectacular display of imagination and creativity.  Not to mention the amazing music coming from a band at peak performance.  I can't imainge them sounding any better than they did at the Fillmore this weekend.  I am a relatively new fan but there are few bands that I resepct as much as MMJ right now.  No one who attended Sunday's show will ever forgot that magical evening.

Yvon, I sent you a pm!

JacketGirl, did I meet you on Saturday in front of the stage (while you were talking to Yvon)?  Sounds like you had a great night.  I can't wait to see your NYE pictures!

I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Yes, it was very nice to meet you. The show was so, so amazing. What a great trifecta of shows you got for your first three, yahoo!!  Jacket shows are truly epic.

I couldn't agree more that I hope the Fillmore brings them back, they seem to just seem at home there, like they absorb the history of the place and create some more.

If you are willing to sift through tons of photos ya'll, here is the link to all the pics.

Will someone confirm if in fact the man in the bear suit at midnight who led the countdown was gavin newsom, the mayor of SF?

Also, will someone summarize what was said during the shootout at the end of the show? The dialogue was hard to understand.

okay. here's my only question. which movements of Cobra did they have covered? All the way up until the slow middle section, or did they get all the way through the song? I would imagine they stopped after "i know sonebody yes i know someone who likes to wait, likes to wait for the policemen to come..." but i haven't had internet in a week and won't be able to download for another day or two. and i neeeeedz some d33tz!!!

If anyone else has an extra one of these 2007 dollar bills, wanna sell an extra?

Kory J, I have one more extra that I found in my car this morning. If you want it I can send it to you.

Elizabeth,

I checked the mail today and got the fillmore money, thanks so much for your generosity as well as your kind words. So cool to have something that was actually there at the show that night as I listened 2300 miles away!
Thanks again!

They played the WHOLE thing. As far as I have heard any version, anyway. It was the 3-movement version. I can't recall off the top of my head how many minutes it was long, but they Cobra-d me into absolute bliss. I heard Cobra live the very first time we saw them (at the Fillmore!) in ...03?, and I was like "whaaaaaa.....? This this is the COOLest s#*! I have ever heard!" and, then no Cobra for the next 5 shows we saw. TOTAL withdrawal I was in (says yoda). Then my Zman put out the Cobra challenge/campaign (LOL) and, VOILA! I about fell over when those bass lines started!!! THANK YOU MMJ! It was my first standing-in-a-crowd-full-body-O! ;)

I will go dance now.

Yes, I Love that one.  Hey, is Tommy sporting a stache or what?  He remindes me of a young Tom Sellec.
