I tuned in to Austin City Limits to watch Wilco.  I'm so glad that I lasted through Conor Oberst's annoyingness long enough to catch Jim singing "Golden" with Conor and M Ward after the Wilco show.

Tom Miller played "death is the easy way" for me a couple of times, then he made me a mixed disc, i fell in love with golden and PWW immediately, these days when i listen to something other than MMJ i almost feel dirty.......what a wonderful man

I WAS WANTING SOME "ICE CREAM." HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT I MEANT.
FROM THE DRIVER'S SEAT IN THE DARK. HE POPPED A TAPE IN THE DASH OF HIS CAR.
AND WHEN THE SINGER STARTED TO "SCREAM". I KNEW EXACTLY WHAT HE MEANT.
I NEVER KNEW FOR SURE -
There's Still Time.........

First time was "One Big Holiday" from a Bonnaroo CD, I think from the 2004 Festival. First live song was "Off the Record".

Mahgeetah

I used to listen to Windows Media Player Internet radio station while at work in my cube. It was an indie station. Mahgeetah and Dancefloors were always on.

Between those 2 songs and the album cover with the bear, I was hooked. I bought It Still Moves used from Newbury Comics in Mass, and I haven't looked back since.

I remember when I went to the counter to buy it, the sales girl (a gothish looking chick) said have you heard At Dawn yet? I didn't really know what she was talking about. Then she said it's a summer album. It's great to just sit outside and listen to. I thought she was talking abotu It Still Moves. But in retrosepect she was talking about At Dawn.

Both, by the way are fantastic summer albums. Z is a Winter Album.

Long story, sorry.

Great Story!  At Dawn is spring, TF fall, ISM summer and Z winter.  Very good.  I think TF will be played very soon.....
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

I saw jim james on Austin City Limits with that douche from Bright Eyes..  They played Golden .  It's still one of my faves.  Also, Dondande live is pretty amazing.

I'm sorry....   I forgot....   I heard the cover of Call Tyrone long ago. I got it off Limewire.  I can't wait till the 12th.   It'll be m'birthday, yall...   may be the show of the year!  i've got lofty expectations...
O, How time flies, with crystal clear eyes.  But it's cold, it's cold, when you're ending with diamond eyes.

I went to a show of theirs once without knowing any of their music.  They opened with At Dawn.  I fell in love the moment Jim James started singing and haven't looked back since.

I am tired of Flava Flav.

i used to listen to a lot of PHISH (still do!! hehe)... and i was talking to this girl about how great they were.
she said, "i don't listen to that hippy shit."
i said, " oh i bet you are an 'indie-trendy' girl aren't you??" HAHAHAH

she said, "i'm really into this band MY MORNING JACKET"
i said, "what do you like about em?"
she said, "his voice"

so i downloaded some songs and put them randomly on a few mix cd's.  one morning i'm in the shower listening to a random mix, and right after van morrison's 'tupelo honey' this incredible song came on.  i stopped washing myself and just sat there and listened to this song in the reverb of my shower.  i was FLOORED!!!

the song was THE WAY HE SINGS!!!
i also heard dancefloors on the other mix and the same thing happened while driving.  got home from work that day, looked em up... it was the jacket... it was over from the start!

Hey welcome aboard blaine!  As you can see I've been stuck on TWTHS for some time now  ;).  I imagine the sound qulity in a bathroom puts a whole new spin on their awesome sound!

It does!  I found that out when I tiled my bathroom a couple weeks ago.  They should record their next album in my shower.

Lowdown, it touched my soul. I was harboring baggage from past relationships and Jim spoke to my hurt as well as my willingness to convince a girl that she had nothing  to worry.

"Cause you only gotta dance with me".

God bless them!

blainesanders

thanks!!!!
i RARELY post on these boards, but i do read them at least 3 or 4 times a week!!!
and yes... the reverb of the bathroom works great for a "reverby" band like the jacket!!
all that being said... my roommate is a pretty incredible musician, he just set up a studio in our basement,
i'll keep you posted when he gets some tunes out there!!!
beware, it's good!!

The Bear on our local college radio station about 3 or 4 years ago.  It will always be my favorite song.

i was introduced to'em on ACL after death cab.   I had originally watched the show to see DCFC. After they were done i was like "well, that was ok i guess"     then these absurdly long haired fellows come out and play some gorgeous song featuring a lap steel.......      Golden.        and it definatly was golden.
cheers.
