The legendary Conan O'Brien performance of "One Big Holiday".
The river is moving. The blackbird must be flying.

whothrewthecake

I think it was it's about twilight now.  but the first one that really sank in was nasheville to kentucky from the This is NOT America documentary

BH

Mahgeetah was being played on Dark Side of the Radio.  It Still Moves was being ordered 3 minutes later.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

doughty

whothrewthecake - you're an Austinite!

Waterloo had Chocolate & Ice at a listening station (heard 'em thru headphones the first time as well) - and that was it for me...

Angry Ewok

Their opening song at Sloss Furnace was Off The Record... I hadn't heard a chord of their word until seeing them live.
--- and that's 2 real 4 u.

dragonboy

I ordered AD after reading an article about the band in Mojo.
I'd not heard anything until the CD arrived so my first song was At Dawn.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

At Dawn...I was in love before the song was over.

ManNamedTruth

One Big Holiday on Conan. I would like to thank Conan personally if i ever got the chance.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

red

Does anyone have a link to that Conan performance?  I'd love to see it again.

TEO

"OBH" on Conan, but really fell in Love with them while listening to "Lowdown".
"You are only as young as the last time you changed your mind" T. Leary

Jernigan

"I will be there when you die" was mistakenly labled as
God speed you Black Emperor on a MP3 player I had. That was the very first song I've ever heard from the Jacket.

When I did the Godspeed search, I relaized it wasn't them.
So I figured it out, and the first album I purchased was "Z"
and I then started to procure each and every recording I could possibly find.

Chills

At Dawn

 :o

It was weird and different and  there was a magical creature singing to me from outer space.

Later, I found out that Jim James was actually a wise and talented earthling who happened to love reverb.

Coltrane

The Way That He Sings........

i was hooked. immediately. and forever.
....as mayor of Drugachusettes, I declare this pizza to be...AWESOME!!!

Mine was "I Will Be There When You Die" because a friend wrote this line down on my arm and I didn't know what it meant till I searched that line in Google. and there it was: My addiction to my morning jacket  began at that point :)

How cool is that?!!
See if I don't try my best to write MMJ lyrics on the arms of random persons I meet from this day fourth!
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Angry Ewok

I wanna scribble lyrics on a girl's arm.
