so with the boys crushing Radio City and these huge festivals what are people's thoughts on the venues they will play for the tour...

i don't think they will be playing huge venues just yet....but they may not be playing some of the smaller places they used to (Blue Cats in Knoxville comes to mind).
If you're lucky, MMJ will fill the void you didn't even know you ever had. If you're luckier, you'll get to see them live.

There's this undeniable building and I'm betting that the venues will be larger than any of us really want, but good for the fellas.  People from all over the globe pissing and moaning about getting seats at RCMH and selling out so quickly will not go unnoticed.
I'm not saying it's easy...walking into sweet oblivion.

I don't know, I saw them at the Ryman and Tennessee Theater (Knoxville) in Nov. 2006 and those shows were not even close to being sold out (and it's in their backyard). I bet they stick to those sizes with some smaller thrown in (which is A-OK with me). It's hard to get crunky when you're in an assigned seat.

MMJ PACKED the electric factory here in dec 2006.... i doubt they would be able to sell out the next biggest venue... the dreaded tweeter center in camden.
The wind blew me back, via Chicago, in the middle of the night.

I think they will still play the electric factory this tour. Where else will they play?

I'd like to see a 2 or 3 night stand at The Ryman (even though the Palace in Louisville might be more appropriate). WP had a 3 night stand at The Ryman a while back and they sold out all 3.

yeah...i agree that the Palace in L'ville is more appropriate, but i'm biased!!!

I wonder if they'll be able to play the Fillmore again. The place has a capacity of 1,250, so they either do a longer multi-night run or book a larger venue. Warfield? Nob Hill Masonic? Bill Graham Civic? I'd love to see them in the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, or if they come through in the summer, the Greek Theatre in Berkeley. Yeah, I bet they play the Greek...

I hope it's here in St Louis at the Pagaent. All other places would be too small or too large. I really hope it's not outdoors at our local corporate sponsored amiptheater. Its' just such a pain there (price, traffic, distance). Even though seeing them on a warm summer night, underneath the stars would be glorious...hmmmm

QuoteHollywood Bowl would be ace.

Agreed!  I also would like to see two nights at the palace.

Theater shows are nice every once in a while.  I'm with Tracy though, general admission shows without seats are better to fully experience the rock.  I bet they'll play Music City Hall in Nashville again.  We just got a new place here in Knoxville called the Valarium that is similar to Music City Hall, I think that would be a good venue for them.
There's Still Time.........

They NEED to play At Dawn all the way through at The Holywood Bowl.

cooler still? Playing the parking lot of a used car lot; like, a really cool
used car lot with super bargains and old muscle cars and like Gremlins and
Pacers and Pintos and Vegas and a huge giant blow up gorilla and the strung
up flags and what not and cotten candy and showgirls and sno-cones and
cigarettes and pronto pups and one of those huge 5 story aluminum slides
that get molten hot in the afternoon sun and a guy on stilts...
This could be good.    ::)

Yes, I'm worried we may not have the place that's in between the Pageant and going full blown arena.  How many does the Fox hold?   I also hate riverport and it's only about 5 minutes from my house.  Seeing them outside once may not be so bad, but I'm not sure they could sell that place out without a double or triple bill kind of show.

The band is certainly growing in popularity, and good for them!  However, let's keep in mind that A: The havn't played live hardly at all lately (absence makes the heart grow fonder and all) B: It's New York City and C: It's obvious that since it's an "Evening With" it's going to be special.

If they would have announced a full blown tour, a lot of us from out of town may not have bought tickets.  Maybe...
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Tracy, don't forget these guys...

I'm just sure they'll finally come here this year:

Cain's Ballroom - Tulsa, OK
I'll be seeing Wilco there for the 2nd time in March - the place would be packed for the Jacket too!

The Fox holds about 4200, The Pageant is a little less then that (if not about the same)but most of there room is gen admission. I've been in there at times when it felt like 10,000. I'd be cool with The Fox if shows were so freakin expesive there. I passed on the White Stripes when they played there as it was really expensive. Riverport sucketh asseth. I hate that place with a passion.
