Quoteyou guys could always stand out front on the sidewalk. I know it's not like really being inside but if I didn't have a ticket, that's where I would be...

Maybe a string and 2 tin cans can work better ;D...Just in case, I'd make sure to get a long enough piece of string so they ask ya to move.

Ive got an EVIL plan babe

I'm so excited for this upcoming show.  But a I have a few questions, some of which are a result of only having been in the store once.

How would you rate (1) the sound and (2) the visibility.  What do you all think the band will do or perform to make this Louisville record release special?  Is this going to be a "Listening party" where they just play the record front to back?  Will it be gentle and intimate or energetic and epic?  Special guests or unheard tracks?

I guess I'll find out in about a week.
Just cause it starts off slow babe, doesn't mean I  don't have evil urges.

I'm saying (guessing) no special guests, no unheard tracks...except of course, tracks from Evil Urges.

I think what they're doing to make it special is playing there in the first place.  Talking to one of the guys at Ear X-tacy, he said that MMJ hasn't played in-stores before, except for one occasion, JJ played an in-store in Seattle.

As far as sound quality goes...iffy.  It won't be bad, because they won't let it be, but it's not a "venue" so it's prolly not set up for great sound.  I've seen several in-stores there, and have never been turned off.  But nothing of this calibur.  Apparently they will close the store and move out all of the merch from the lower level and build a little riser for the band to play on.  I think visibilty will be the only factor, because I think it will be hard to get 500 people (plus band, crew, promotions, employees, etc.) in there, but I'm sure they know what they're doing.

I doubt they will play a three hour rager, but I figure they will play 45 minutes to an hour anyway.  I wish they would play Evil Urges in it's entirety start to finish...LIVE!!!!  That would be so f'ing AWESOME!

I think that even if it's gentle and intimate, it will be energetic and epic.

I agree with Love Dog but I did hear it would be a full show... that probably means 2 hours though and not a normal instore. Jim has played a few more than just that one in Seattle as well. Go hop on youtube and search jim james all ears (I don;t have youtube at work or i'd just link it...)

Thanks for the love, Kory.  I had a feeling I was wrong on some stuff, and glad I am wrong on others (possible 2 hr show!).  Anyway, you're the man...I guess that's why they pay you the big bucks.  8-)

I'm hoping the new merchandise will be there.  My Z shirt was too small when I bought it.  My Z-bear shirt was too wide and too short and then I puked on it while I was passed out drunk.  Yes, I almost died with a My Morning Jacket shirt on!

I need a new shirt to almost die in.

I was under the impression that the cd/lp claim ticket was also the show ticket...hence, waiting until showtime on Tuesday to pick up the music.  If you go early and turn in for the merch, will you lose your show ticket?

I'm thinking they won't even give it to you until show time...just my guess.
Runnin' from somethin' that isn't there

which will kinda suck and make me wish I didn't pre-order vinyl when I'm holding it the entire show... a record doesn't go in your pocket well...

However, that may not be a problem since [apparently] there are some warping issues with the lp's.  I'm not sure if all shipments were affected or not, but they might be.

On the phone the guy said that they sometimes get their orders in on monday and they are available for pickup, so he said call in and check.

Yeah!

Also, was Louisville affected by the recent flooding?  I'm hoping the roads stay open so that I can get there from Bloomington.
