the reason for my excitement

you see, there is a trend when it comes to the shows I've seen, the first one ever, blew... I mean I was young, and it was Millencolin, and well... it just sucked.

Some shows later each one was progressively better than the last.

Fast forward, DMB (not a huge fan but all my friends were going so) it was a good show, not my cup of tea, but a good show. then came Wilco, it would have been better than the next show except the fans were pretty shitty at the HAmmerstein Ballroom. then was bright eyes at radio city, which was awesome because he played an excellent set (except for lover I dont have to love) and the Felice brothers broght so much energy and it was totally awesome... little did I know what was lurking months later.  A rock n' roll beast hiding in the shadows of my foolishness,  my housemate listened to MMJ all the time and I finally got to listening to them too... and then, I couldn't stop, it was a drug, an addiction, Evil Urges was blasting my mind as I started devouring Z and At Dawn. Matt (my housemate who I am forever grateful to) said he still had a ticket to see MMJ, I thought, heck yea, lets do this.  Months later, I had listened to Okonokos a billion times and I was shaking that the concert was a day away.  It finally came, we all know what happened, anyone who was there knows what happened... thats it man, the beast had been unleashed, its acidic melodies melted the skin on my face, the raging beat of its heart blasted my ear drums, and now, I sit here, rambling on, wishing I could invent a time machine and experience it, like that, again and again and again.  and then I remember, 6 months and 1 week later, there will be another show coming my way, and if this pattern of increasingly awesome shows continues (which i bet it will) MMJ NYC MSG NYE will crumble buildings, and burn cities until only two things remain.  Rock and Roll

In conclusion, this is why I'm excited,  Thank you interwebs.
Oh I'll never say I knew you, but my heart can't wait to meet you on the other side

I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

That was so incredibly touching and honest and moving and sensitive ....

In a totally manly heterosexual way, of course!!!

"A rock n' roll beast hiding in the shadows of my foolishness..."

That comment alone is a classic.
Thank you .... You've been a lovely audience ....I'll be here all week .... Try the veal!

Same feelings, but my concerts started with the Grateful Dead & Phish. MMJ blew my past experiences out of the fucking water.

Hey, I totally concur.

My faith in white guys playing guitar-based rock and roll was totally renewed last Friday! I can honestly say I experienced a religous epiphany.

With bands like MMJ and Umphrey's McGee out there now, who knows .....

.... There might actually be a light at the end of the tunnel

DMB?  Wilco?  Bright Eyes?

Well, of course MMJ blew you away.  Wilco is a good band, but their live shows are always a bit lacking.  And, um...no comment on the others.

It wasn't until the Bonnaroo show that I finally realized that there was life after Phish tour. . . That show made me feel funny in all kinds of places--something Phish never did. . . So, after years and years of disappointing NYEs, MSG, here I freaking come!!

The first MMJ show I saw was in 05, and while the next two shows I saw from them were even better, I had never witnessed anything so amazing.  I had only been into them for a few months and was only in love with At Dawn at that point...

But when they BLASTED out on stage in the dark and started playing Wordless Chorus and then the strobe lights kicked in I thought my heart was going to leap out of my chest and explode.  I had been to probably a dozen shows before that and never saw that kind of energy and love and greatness.

I then saw them at Bonnaroo in 06 and my life will never be the same.
I've seen bands like the Flaming Lips, Radiohead, Ryan Adams, Wilco, Bright Eyes play live before, along with many others, but I would trade them all in for JUST ONE MMJ SHOW!

MMJ + You + Me + Love + Energy = The end of the Illuminati

like I said, I'm not one for DMB, but i do really love listening to wilco and bright eyes, and yes they both put on really good shows, MMJ wasnt just a little bit better, it blew everything else I've seen away, not because the others weren't good, but because the RCMH show was unbelievably good!
