J_rud...great pics, thanks for sharing!  What kind of camera are you using?  Settings?
God sure baked a lot of fruitcake, baby.

finally one more thing...the day before the show, my local paper printed a full page story on the boys front page of the entertainment section....only thing is the main picture.....wasn't them at all. so there's an entire half page in my local paper devoted to a picture of my favorite band and it's not even them...and the next day THERE WAS NO CORRECTION!!!  unfortunately i didn't get to see it till the next day and it would be too late for a correction

Would you believe me if I told you it was just a standard Kodak Mega Pixel 8.0? I have an "oldie but goodie" Canon AE1 Series but didnt feel like lugging it along. Those are from a pretty run of the mill digital camera. I really like the 3 of Jim with the V where the yellow light is coming across his body. I'd like to say I did something special, but it was pretty much a point and click job.
Say friend, you got any more of that good sasparilla?

Sassbox

Yes, I'd believe you.  My brother, a professional photographer, has gotten some amazing shots with DISPOSABLES.  I can't lug my D80 everywhere, so I rely on this POS Lumix I got a few months ago.  I despise that little hunk of nothingness.  It's terribly inconsistent.

Great shots, thanks again for posting!

Longtime lurker here. I felt compelled to post after having seen the Philly show.
The show was AMAZING!!! Jim & the boys were ON TOP OF THEIR GAME. Possibly the best show I've EVER seen.
But my reason for posting is this:
While the crowd was, for the most part, OUTSTANDING, there was a segment of the audience that wouldn't stop jabbering. Many people were talking during THE ENTIRE show. It was EXTREMELY annoying & utterly disrespectful to the band & the fans who came to enjoy the concert.
That aside, MMJ ROCKED the Earth that night!
But I'm betting that I speak for everyone on this board when I say this to those of you who go to ANY show knowing that you're unable to hold your chattering 'till the show is OVER:
STAY HOME!!!

Defintely one of the best shows I have seen in a long time.  The band were awesome.   I totally agree with the complaints about people talking throughout the show.  I had to move 3 times because of it.  I wanna hear the band not some asshole going on about his fucking sex life!!!

I'm suprised nobody was let down by the first few songs. Carl was definately having problems as he had someone working on his sh$t during Anytime, Aluminum Park and Off the Record. I wasn't feeling the energy at first, and I was scared the band was falling into some kind of road weariness.  I didn't really think the show was going to go well until Evil Urges, and then all hell broke loose.  Don Dante was the best I ever saw, holy hell! They definately jammed it up and played some different songs which was sweet. Maybe the reason I didn;t feel the first couple of songs had to do with Carl's equipment problems or the fact that the last show I saw was RCMH which set the bar extremely high. Nonetheless the show was outstanding and I can't wait to see them again. I hope no one flips out on my remarks, just one man's opinion.

QuoteI can't say much more about my first MMJ gig that hasn't been said already, but yeah Cobra, Phone Went West, and Evelyn were awesome.

Loved seeing some peeps from the boards about 20' back too.

I could say more, but I'm in the midst of an endorphin crash or something.  Is that common after an MMJ show?  I don't even want to go out tonight.  :'(

nice meeting you and the mrs before the show!!
but come on...there's nothing sexy about poop. Nothing.  -bbill

i keep forgetting things....

i was singing the COBRAAAAAAs in the verses of cobra and everyone around me was like uhhhh whaT? then jim did it before the "chorus" and i just know he heard me doing it earlier...maybe it was all in my head...but we had a moment

here's a big thing i want to put out there too...during the quiet breakdown at the end of off the record i wanna hear the boys break out a subdued chorus of the doobie brothers "jesus is just alright"...it matches up...feel it

Back from Philly and after quickly reading through all of these posts, there isn't anything that I can add...but I'll try anyway  ;)

'Twas a great night.  I thought that of the MIA>DC>PHL run, the band just seemed really energized in Philly.  I did notice that Carl was having some equipment issues at the start, but he was rockin' so hard it didn't seem to matter.  I love Carl.  Is that OK?  He's just friggin' amazing.

I got to the venue late and was maybe 30 "rows" back on Jim's side.  I was dancing and bouncing right away...felt real good to hear Aluminum Park again. And from that point on, I think I was off in my own little MMJ Extravaganza.   :D

Were it not for all the people trudging through to get beer all night and the 2 guys who decided to stand right in front of me to talk and look at porn on their iPhones, it would have been as if the band were playing just for me.

I still do not know what the fireworks were for across the river, but I was told that Celine Dion was playing.  Did anyone else see the 2 girls hop on stage and get accidentally tackled as they were being removed from the stage?  Nuts...

Sadly, the group that I was with were part of the talking crowd.  We were basically in the same row, but since we all got there a bit late, I stayed on the fringe and they moved into the crowd.  Apparently, they got shushed and knew that it was deserved.

Ah well...from the Radio City show to Miami to DC to Philly, I have just been having an absolute blast.

Can't wait for Seattle!

well if that's true, thank you celine...it was literally just for one song...and it was amazing, and yeah the one girl was dancing about and the other was trying to sing side by side with Jim, E street band style during... OBH or run thru? they got housed by security, but it added to the insanity at the end of that show

Quotenice meeting you and the mrs before the show!!

O, How time flies, with crystal clear eyes.  But it's cold, it's cold, when you're ending with diamond eyes.

Ha!  Of the six I saw, I'd rank as follows:

1.  Nashville (I got to meet the band)
2.  Philly (performance, crowd)
3.  Red Rocks (venue)
4.  Dallas (Erykah Badu appearance)
5.  Louisville (hometown show!)
6.  DC

Edit:  Yeah, Roo, SXSW and the Jim James' solo at St. Davids...gah, nine times in six months.  Nuts.
God sure baked a lot of fruitcake, baby.

alexzbik

my rankings for the 5 shows i saw this summer:

1) Roo
2) Philly
3) Louisville
4) Radio City
5) Miami Beach

Stolen as the war begun, this time your soul is my one.

Fleabag, it was nice meeting you. I was the guy with the McNerd jersey on. That was a great first show to be at! Highlights for me were Evelyn and Cobra (first time seeing them performed live). I loved that 30 second pose after Evelyn! I started yelling different names at Jim and we were very close to the stage. In the spirit of the SNL "Making Copies" skit and Rob Schneider I began yelling "Jimmy, Jimbo, the Jimster, the Jimarino ect.... until I got to "the JimJamster" at which point he broke his freeze and cracked a smile. I think he heard me? LOL  ;D ;D ;D
Wakin up feelin good and limber!
