It seems like a lot of the same questions get asked here on a pretty regular basis. Maybe we can put together a board FAQ and sticky it at the top of this sub-forum. Whadda ya think, Mr Baxter?

Here's a couple of sample questions that would make a nice start:

-What is that instrument that Jim sometimes plays?
-Where can I download Jim solo shows?
-I just downloaded a show and can't get these Flac files to play. How do I listen to them? What is Bit Torrent?
-What is the bands taping policy?

Dee.

Q. Where did the band's name come from?
A. John's alien story

Bump. For real. Let's do this. I forgot about it until I read through a couple of posts today. When we have a pretty good list together, we can start a new thread with all of the questions in it and maybe get it stickied.

But for the sake of the thread and it not being turned into complete sillyness, let's keep all of the sample questions serious. Thanks.

TomE, do you know where the thread about the backwards translation in "Off the Record" is? That would be good to have in the FAQ as well.

Okay, here are some suggestions(I'm going to try my hardest to not be silly).

What does he say at the end of What a Wonderful Man?

Is What a Wonderful Man about Jesus? (seriously, this one gets asked monthly)

What equipment/rigs/effects pedals do they use?

Who are the sixth, seventh, and eighth members of the band?

Where can I download shows?

I've downloaded the shows, now how the hell do I get them to play on my ipod?

Is there a compliation of covers songs the band has done?  ;)

Who is that talking on It's Been a Great Three or Four Year?

What is that crazy electronic instrument Jim plays on some songs?

That's all I've got for now.  That's probably a pretty good start.

corey

Very good suggestions. A couple of those were up above, but some of them hadn't been listed yet. I'll try to find some of these answers (some of them are gonna just come off the top of the old noggin), but some of them I don't quite remember (about who exactly WAWM is about).

aMD

His name was Tim Cushing aka Our Lord and Savior  ;)

JacketGal

What are Jim James &  Two-tone Tommy's real names?

What does Magheeta mean?  8-)

What do the lyrics do Xmas Curtain mean?
[Maybe we're not qualified...?]

Where can I buy MMJ on vinyl?

But seein you feels good, and its always understood.
That anything much sweeter would make me die.

Sherpa

Where did the name My Morning Jacket originate?

How do your pronounce Louieville? Isn't it something like Loouuville.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

in broadcast diction classes, they tell you to pronounce it "lew-ee-ville;" however, when everyone i know says it, it only has one syllable: looahvull.

Make sure y'all put something explaining the Split EP on the FAQ.

aMD

yeah, all the announcers pronounce it wrong.  Whenever I'm talking to someone in a call center I usually have to spell it for them because no matter how I pronounce it they don't know how to spell it.  Okay, I've hijacked enough threads for one day. ummm how about...

What guest appearances has Jim done?

Dee.

I just looked through the forum to see what's been asked a lot. These might be possibilities to include:

How old are they? When are their birthdays?
What does Okonokos mean?
What's their taping policy?
What's Don Dante about?
Are there any fansites?
How did they get involved with Elizabethtown?
Who are their influences?

I think the omnichord question has gotten asked the most of all.  :o
