Just got an email from state theatre, happy to see the show is billed as "An evening with!!"

Does anyone know what the set up is for floor/pit area here?  I have the fear that a GA show and a traditional theatre seating set up will be a mess.

I was just wondering the same thing, possibly at the same time you posted.  I have to imagine its permanent seating but GA.  Not sure how that works, so I hope I can make it there early.  If anyone else has any insight, please post.

I can tell you about what it used to be like...it was seats up in the balcony/mezzanine and some in the back of th floor and then GA on the floor up front...which I loved.  It was a great setup...really easy to move around or grab a seat if you wanted.  Not sure about now because they have reduced the capacity but I imagine it is still GA on the floor.

Sweet!  Sounds ideal.  I've been camping out in front of Jim for past shows, so I'm thinking of trying to get up front dead center or towards Carl for this show.  Really looking forward to this and getting my wife to her second show, so she better understands her husband's obsession.

Time to discuss pre-show?  I'm coming from the Concord, NH area as soon as I can after work.  I fear we won't get to Portland until 5pm at the earliest and should check in to the hotel next door.  Any locals aware of a good watering hole nearby or in the Eastland Park Hotel lobby?

Johnny,  Check out Brian Boru or Gritty McDuffs Downstairs old port.  Lots of good bars in Portland everywhere.

:o i'm like a reeeeelly distant relative of brian boru - high king of ireland from way, way, way back.  if the place lives up to the name, it should be an excellent irish pub - slainte  ;)

i was seriously debating on making the trek up for this show, but there's no way i could scam outta work to make the drive up from nj.

hope you guys get an awesome show!  i'll be lookin for reviews & then we can compare notes on this one & the ramble on the 16th.  i think we might get some real gems being that these shows are right before the start of T5...

There are some great bars in Portland.  There is one bar right next to the state theatre...Norm's that was a pretty popular spot last time I saw Wilco there.

www.normsbarandgrill.com

also $3 Dewey's has a ton of local beers on tap...and then there is Gritty's and Bull Feeneys.

Looks like lots of good choices nearby.  I'd like to pick one for the "official" forum member pre-show meet and drink.  Maybe something like 5-6pm.  Possible after-show, too.

Here's the list.

Norm's- I'm liking the proximity; want to stay close

Norm's looks to be the place for a meet-up.  I clicked the link and saw the Pabst sign on the first page, no need to look further!

I'm convinced!  Unless we hear from others against the plan, let's have all forum members attending this show convene upon Norm's at the appointed hour, say 5pm, for a toast to the return of MMJ and the State Theater!  Then, we head en masse to take control of the rail!

I was just checking the roll call to this here show.  Yikes!  Has T5 and the Ramble forced Portland to the back burner?  Where are all the New England fans?  This could turn out to be a very intimate affair, with only about 1500 capacity, not sold out, and very little forum representation.  Its a Friday night, too.  Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Portland is a strange place like that.  Shows usually don't sell out even in a small venue like this for MMJ.  I saw them there once after Z came out and I think there was maybe 200 people at the show tops...and the night before in Boston it was completely sold out.  I don't mind, makes it easier for us to get up front.  I'm sure they will still put on a rocking show.
