So...if you could make your own band with your favorite musicians what would it look like?  ( I am suggesting leaving the mmj boys out of this...or some of us would just pick them. )  Lets try to keep it one selection per band also.

So here goes...

Todd Lewis ( Toadies ) - Vocals
Chris Martin ( Coldplay ) - Piano
Jeordie White ( A Perfect Circle )- Bass
Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine )- Guitar
Chris Carabba ( Dashboard Confessional )- Acoustic Guitar
Carter Beauford ( Dave Matthews Band )- Drums
Sara Watkins ( Nickel Creek )- Violin

...this band probably wouldnt need a violin, but if they were to ever have one then she would be my pick.  It was so hard leaving Josh Homme ( Queens of the stone age ) and Maynard out of the vocals position.  I'm not saying this band would make great music...but these are my favorites in their spots.

this is an interesting idea. thanks.

hmmm

Ruyter Suys - Guitar (Nashville Pussy)
Dean Ween - Guitar (Ween)
Burtch - Vocals (Grandaddy)
Nathan Followill - Drums (Kings of Leon)
Jeff Tweedy - Bass (Uncle Tupelo,Wilco)

again, this would prob. change next week

oh yah, i forgot to mention..everytime i see one of these shit 'nu metal' bands that have a D.J that obviously does nothing, I wonder how pissed the lyric/music writers get once they get famous and actually have to pay their expendable gimmick..ie: linkin park, incubus. its funny really.

TheMollusk

it must be the europe/north american thing cuz anytime someone posts a good thread on here it takes three friggin days for anyone to respond

Ginger Baker - drums
Jack Bruce - bass
Eric Clapton - guitar

or

drums - patrick
guitar - jerry garcia
bass - bloke from DMB
guitar/vocals - Ginger (Wildhearts)
keyboards - Jools Holland
the future is Ginger

wordawg

Didn't read the original post properly, so instead of Patrick I'd have John Bonham
the future is Ginger

I agree on the DJ-thing, I must say.

My all-star band would be, ehm, let me think... These on instruments:

John Cale - Violin
Erik de Jong (Spinvis) - Guitar, loops
Rahzel - Human bass
Britney Spears - Woodblock
Liam Gallagher - Tambourine

And a choir of the following:

Tom Waits
Stef Kamil Carlens (Zita Swoon)
Michael Stipe (R.E.M.)
Patti Smith
Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam)
Connor Oberst (Bright Eyes)
Captain Beefheart
James Brown
Aretha Franklin
Morrissey

And then I'd like to hear them do a cover of Leonard Cohen's "Famous blue raincoat". Mmmmm.....  :)
I'm ready when you are

Oh, I'd need someone on trumpet as well, but I can't think of anyone...

i dislike linkin park all together.  Every single song is the same.  The one guy sings...then he yells...then the other guy raps.

Brittany spears on woodblock...thats classic.

Okay, seriously.  I think I need a choir - a polyphonic spree kind of thing.  Here are the members, so far:

Otis Redding - vox
Chan Marshall - vox
Elliott Smith - vox, guitar
Richard Manuel - vox, keys
Jerry Garcia - vox, guitar, banjo
Bill Monroe - vox, mandolin
Levon Helm - vox, drums

O - I like that you included Rahzel

MMJ_fanatic

what?  no David Grissom?

Quotewhat?  no David Grissom?

I was afraid of making it too hippie. Actually, maybe I should add slash or something

Plus, who needs the Dawg when you've got Bill Monroe?
