QuoteHey Megan, The Black Crows covered "Knoxville Girl" last night.
They did?  That's very cool.  Was it good?

Do you get sick of hearing Knoxville girl?  ;)  Like, do a lot of bands cover it when they come into town?  I know that I would want to.

darkglow

Never heard the song in my life.  Chris did it acapella, in the middle of Thorn In My Pride, and I instantly thought of you.
There's Still Time.........

Because you want to knock me down and kill me?  ;)

(What'd you think of it?  It's on the creepy side...  There's  a Nick Cave version that I've never heard, but you should dig around and listen to the Louvin Brothers sing it.  It's on Tragic Songs of Life.  Which is one of my favourite record titles of all time.  [Another one is Satan is Real, also by them.]) :)

I'm about to be playing the new Mike Doughty album if Itunes puts it up soon. I haven't checked them before to see if they put stuff up after midnight or not. They better do it before I go to bed.

corey

OK. So Itunes DOES put their new stuff up at midnight. I now have the new Mike Doughty CD and am currently listening to it.

:)
(Yay!)

EC

(hey wiggum, is it "dofty", or "doe-tee"?  I've always wondered...)

corey

"doe-tee"

I didn't know until I heard an interview with him recently.

Lucero - Nobody's Darlings.
I feel bad for downloading this but I had already pre ordered it and refused to wait until 5/24. I really wish MMJ would bring these guys out on tour with them sometime. Lucero is heading out on a tour with the Honaray Title and Cory Branan that is sure to please.

antoniostrohs

Plank10 you are so right about Lucero. They are a great band and they are coming back to Louisville at Uncle Pleasants on the 27 of May.We also got the fabulous Drive By Truckers at Headliners May 20th.

corey

I can't believe it's been over a year since I saw the DBTs. I caught a couple of Jason's solo shows last year, but the last time I saw the full band was in March of 2004.
I'm gonna see them in Huntsville within a week of seeing MMJ. That's a lot or ROCK for one week.

The river is moving. The blackbird must be flying.

Chills

Charles Wright & the watts 103rd street rhythm band.

Especially the song 'Comment (If All Men Are Truly Brothers)'. It's magical. Discovered it through an excellent recent Wilco cover. Really worth listening to

tomEisenbraun

Just picked up the new Iron and Wine  "Woman King EP", its pretty rockin.

Howdy. I'm new to these parts.
Fell in love with MMJ about six months ago.
I listen to a pretty diverse bunch of stuff. Here's what's been in heavy rotation in the car and on the comp playlist:

Neil Young - After the Gold Rush
Tegan and Sara - live in Seattle
Red House Painters - Songs for a Blue Guitar
Grateful Dead - assorted live stuff
Ditty Bops - live at the Independent in SF 3/05
Palace Brothers - Days in the Wake
Husker Du - Zen Arcade
Tori Amos - The Beekeeper
Brian Eno - The History of Bells (Don't know if that's the real title, I forget)
Anouar Brahem - Astrakan Cafe & Le Pas du Chat Noir (French Tunisian ambient inflected jazz...really poignant stuff)

It's really great to be here and check out what everyone is listening to!
