You're not the oldest one Jellyfish.  We got a lot of old men on this board.  ;)

I'm 31, although I got carded buying smokes the other day.  Which was hilarious.  It must've been the sparkly iron-on letters on my t-shirt.  ;)

"Holy Crap...I'm 27" was a name of a band I came up with that me and a friend chuckle about

i am 28 going on either 13 or 80 depending on my moods.  anyone else going through a late twenties midlife crisis?  thank god Six Feet Under is over! :-/  and, thank god for the jACKET and all good music for that matter.

EC

I had a major, major late 20s crisis.  I swear to God it was the worst ever.  And everyone I knew was going through it, too.  I think 26-29 was harder than puberty.  I'm not kidding.

But I noticed, and most of my pals have too, that 30 is kind of triumphant, and then it gets better.  Honestly.  :)

(There's a theory about 27-34 called "Saturn Returns" which is where you're presented with all the mistakes you've made before, but you're supposed to look at them as opportunities to fix them, finally, once and for all.  I think it's a good way to look at stuff anyhow, kind of takes you away from it so that you can deal with it.)

Anyhow, some people dig it, and some don't.  The Saturn Returns, that is.

Don't worry.  It gets better.  Swear it.

TheLink

yes, I am in the "Saturn Returns" stage and trying to figure it all out.  over analyzing and getting sad about all past events good and bad.  and, to quote the great Mr. James, "alcohol only makes me tired".  Thanks for the thoughts EC.

24... and alcohol now makes me VERY tired. mornings make me cranky. rain makes my knees ache. i get annoyed at high-schoolers coming into my store asking me for Ciara. i get annoyed. staying up late is no longer magical. but the Jacket makes me happy.
everything sucks. really.

dragonboy

31 but got married this year so I guess that somehow makes me older? No regrets :)
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

I'm about to hit that wall, I can see it coming, and I'm not looking forward to it.  I turn 24 in a couple of hours.  I know that's still young but I've done a lot of "growing up" and getting responsible lately and I already feel like an old man.  One day I'll come to terms with becoming old but I don't see it being anytime in the next couple decades.  And alcohol is no help for me either.  It doesn't make me tired, it gives me a fucking headache, literally.  I don't drink anymore because it's not fun.  It's sad really.  I think that MMJ's music will always be an occasion for me to reminisce about the good ole days.  I still think that Jim is a big kid who has never had to grow up and I respect/envy him for that.  I would love to view the world through innocent eyes again.  Anyway!  Sorry about the diarrhea of the mouth, I've got the birthday blues!

Now, here's a tip from an older lady.  ha ha ha.  Seriously, though.  Things change.  All the time.  I went through a period of feeling old and not wanting to drink or go out or do any of that stuff when I was 21 years old.  Me and the old man were shacked up, and we were both so tired of our old ways.

You're only old if you feel old.

And about Jim and people who live different kinds of lives.  Don't ever underestimate the huge responsibility you carry for being in the spotlight and leading a band.  You want to talk about being responsible, holy shit.  Everybody's life outside of your own always looks so fun and exciting and different and way better, hey?  But people probably think that about you, too.  ;)

Jen just called from University and everyone is blonde and wears football sweatpants and is 21.  Or younger.  And she's 30.  And she feels really weird.  But then she said, "But I can stretch better than 90% of those guys, so..."

Just chucking some perspective into the mix.  Don't worry so much you guys.  Birthdays can make you feel weird, but the way I see it is if you're listening to My Morning Jacket, you're way hipper than most.  ;D

Happy Birthday aMillionDreams! Cheer up dude - life's what you make it. I know that's a cliche but one I believe to be true. Anyway - have a good one, I'll sink a few beers for you tonight.

No worries Jellyfish because I'm sure I'm the oldest here at 46! The Jacket keeps me young.
