I'll be on after the Pens vs Rangers game, big game tonight that I planned on watching before I knew Sid was coming back. It should be over around 9:15, closer to 9:30 if there's OT.

I have always wanted to check this out. Great pick. I can't make it tonight though
Pens game ran later than expected, based on the last 7:00 start time.
Alone Again Or is a beautiful song to start the album off, it was featured in Wes Anderson's Bottle Rocket and covered by Calexico.
So Love was Jim Morrison's favorite band, being label mates on Elektra. Singer Arthur Lee helped The Doors to get signed. Forever Changes wasn't a popular album on it's release but has grown from more recent critical acclaim.
Made it!!! Thanks for the reminder True, I love Love!!! Thanks for intro'ing their tunes to me!!! Great stuff!!!

Thanks for dropping in! :dankk2:
A House is not a Motel is a great rock song, followed by some beautiful strings on Andmoreagain. The Daily Planet is a cool song, reminds me of The Who a little.
Awesome mix of strings, horns, and piano on Old Man.
The Red Telephone is a trip.
I've listened to this a couple times since you put me onto it, and I'd listen now and leave more feedback, but the roommate is blasting Gram Parsons, and it's hard to switch gears right now!! I love how smoooothe the album plays :-* (Forever Changes, that is!)

That's bad-ass!!!!!
Tell your roommate you've been listening to GP all week and it's time for Love. I'm sure they'd appreciate Love.
Maybe the People would Be the Times.... is a favorite, love the horns.

Hahahahahah that's the problem though, it's my fault they're into him now! :-X I know at least the one roommate would love Love too though! I do remember Red Telephone sounding sweeeeeet!!
I like how the acoustics make the backbone of the album, but then a killer electric guitar solo will kick in, like on Live and Let Live.
I'd love to hear Yim's thoughts on this album, I bet he digs it.

Of this you can be certain!
The vocal style on Bummer in the Summer is way ahead of it's time. Cool hispanic psychedelic rock style throughout without sounding anything like Santana.
And a nice triumphant end with some more horn and string interplay.
I encourage you all to listen to this album, if you were too busy today that's cool but it's definitely worth your time when you're able.
R.I.P. Arthur Lee.
Nice nice, I'll put it on soon as I can and give a little run-down / highlights! Big thanks for puttin' me onto it again!! Great stuff! I love those pictures you posted earlier too, by the way! Awesome get-ups 8) Cool cats
Yeah, for some reason Arthur found it appropriate too be chillin' in his swimming trunks while the rest of the band was fully dressed. Love that billboard pic, I want a poster version. Too bad the album didn't sell well despite the billboard. Need to get this album on vinyl someday!
Arthur Lee & Love - Alone Again Or (Live) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZU7-ZtqPatc#ws)
It's great to see that Love was kind of rediscovered, and that Arthur Lee was able to put on what appear to be some amazing performances in the years leading to his passing on.

Here's another video of Alone Again Or with better audio quality than the first video I posted, but I do enjoy the energy, sunlight, huge festival crowd, and that smile on the blonde violinists face of the first video. This video has two songs so I'll repost.
Arthur Lee and Love - Forever Changes Concert (Alone Again Or & A House is Not a Motel) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tQspFesT3E#)
I adore Forever Changes. Top 10 all time record for me. Stunning...
Seeing Arthur Lee perform in 2003 is one of the greatest live musical experiences I have witnessed. Never expected to see him. He was amazing and his voice was beyond WOW that night.
"oh the snot has caked against my pants, it has turned into crystal".
Sorry late to the club again this week
....Just diving into the album now....greeted by a warm familiar sound from Bottle Rocket...never knew Alone Again Or was a Love song but it's quite interesting. I think vocals are great on this track....it's a perfect song for Calexico
....A House is not a Motel....reminds me of that classic rock n roll transitional sound into psychadelia....there's some Yardbirds and the Animals in there. Quite ahead of its time too.....I love that clean solo tone which was reminiscent of the sound at that time, really lays bare some good guitar -slinging without too many bells and whistles.....
....more to come

I know what you mean about the clean solo tones, Live and Let Live and A House is not a Motel both have that. The fact that most of the guitars are acoustic make the solos stand out that much more, witch I was getting at with my Live and Let live comment. Looking fowward to what else you have to say as well as what yoru selection for next week is.
