I'm sure all our forum friends there are lovin' this! Great that our guys got to do three tunes, and are on so late in the set. A nice well deserved prime spot.
Must hear this. I'd heard about the Roger Waters colab going in, but had no idea it was for Dixie! Phew! That and Ophelia... I can hear it now.

I'm with you on that John. Here's hoping something pops up on YouTube soon.
You just know they're blowing the crowd there away! Going to make some new fans I'm sure. Good Tickets are going to get tougher, and tougher to get going forward.

Sure hope they're filming this for a video release. A great way to bring in some more $ for the cause.
Anyone within a hundred miles of this that didn't go should turn in thier roll call membership.
What a great way to honor a great man and musician. Can't wait to hear the recordings.

Danny Clinch was there, though he's seen holding a still camera. I think this might be slated for a DVD or live release. I'll take an aud recording.

Hey, easy now. I had hoped to be able to make it, but things didn't work out. Tried my best. I promise to buy the DVD.
No offense meant Eric, maybe that was a bit harsh.
I was kinda surprised there wasn't more buzz on this board leading up to tonight. I understand the excitement and anticipation of the New Years run, and the Obama gig, but man, this one flew under the radar big time.
I have always had a special place in my heart for Levon and The Band. I feel they have always been extremely underrated. On top of that, the line-up was busting with talent.
Again, very cool of the boys to be a part of this epic night, really jelous of anyone who was there, it looks to be a super special night on paper.
Crazy............. Rogers Waters and MMJ sharing a stage, I gotta see this!
CHIMMJFAN
None taken Bernard.
Trust me, I was bummed all day as the hours passed, and I knew my window for making this was closing by the minute.
I'm still a bit bummed, but I know I did all I could. If I just passed or wasn't interested, there'd be no excuse, and should have to turn in my RC card!
Happy for friends that were there, and looking forward to hearing their first hand accounts.
Wrote this on another board:
QuoteAbsolutely amazing. The best part was getting to see My Morning Jacket and Roger Waters share the stage AND acknowledge each other. MMJ was like the pre-headliner to Roger Waters (they played a song together before MMJ left and Waters stuck around).
MMJ killed it, John Mayer was crazy on guitar and played two songs (one was Tennesse Jed and the other was with Ray LaMontagne singing Tears of Rage), Joe Walsh and Robert Randolph absolutely destroyed Up On Cripple Creek (in a good way).
So great. This isn't the order it was in but here was a list of performers. Might be missing one or two:
Roger Waters
John Mayer
My Morning Jacket
Eric Church
Ray LaMontagne
Dierks Bentley
Joe Walsh
Gregg Allman
Grace Potter
Garth Hudson of The Band
Marc Cohn
Jakob Dylan
Mike Gordon
Warren Haynes
John Hiatt
Bruce Hornsby
Jorma Kaukonen
The Levon Helm Band
John Prine
Robert Randolph
Mavis Staples
Lucinda Williams
Absolutely blown away by this show. MMJ were treated like the rock gods that they are. It was truly amazing seeing all of these legends and talented acts play
before Jacket but I guess everyone know that was a perfect way to end the night. The 1-2 punch of MMJ and Roger Waters was just fantastic.
I have some video. The audio may not be that great (haven't checked it yet) but will post what I have soon.

Looks like an incredibly special night.
Fucking spectacular night! I agree that this event definitely flew under the radar on here. Great to see forum friends YNWA, sassbox, and deathstick! We also saw Brian (bagpiper) on our way out!
So very grateful to have been able to get to this! Once in a lifetime! Ophelia nearly made me faint! And then....Roger Waters....Roger mothafuckin Waters. I knew that sass had some serious scoop from the night before, and she was kind enough not to spoil it for us, but said it was BIG, like really really BIG. The anticipation was building all evening, and I knew the collaboration would be epic, but didn't dream it would be THAT epic.
Thank you YNWA, I am so glad your friend had an interview at NBC yesterday, otherwise I would not have made this show! I hope she gets the job

and at the 3 min mark they all look around like, who's gonna sing the next verse?, and when they miss it, piano saves the day. Nice solo - to someone there, was that Bo? can't tell from the video.
We thought it was Bo. Too hard to tell from our vantage point, but sounded like him at the moment, so we were cheering for him!

I had to hold my tongue until today. Eric Mayers and Carl both told me on Monday
they would play with Roger Waters last night, though I did not know it would be Dixie.
Awesome. Two of my faves on stage together.

Such a beautiful moment for so many reasons. I'm glad you got to go, Trish!
So glad you folks got to see such epicness. Thanks for sharing all the goods. I swear to God, I checked the setlist at 6 a.m. and have been smiling ever since. Roger FUCKING Waters and our boys playing The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down?!!! Where are the headlines spinning rapidly toward the screen?!!! This is bigger news than the Treaty at Appomattox. (Hey-O)
Anyone come across a video of Ophelia? The other two are just amazing.
I'm hearing from friends that were there who weren't MMJ fans going in, that MMJ blew them away! They are now set on catching a live Jacket show......Well duh! What the hell do you think I've been saying for years!
One said "they f*ckin kicked ass"! "Wow".
I'd say they made more than a few new fans last night.

A friend texted me from the show last night and said "I know you're a huge MMJ fan, and I've never seen them before...just wanted you to know that your boys are killing it right now!!" He then proceeded to remind me about how he's a tough sell and they totally won him over. Yeah, I think they did the job last night!!

What else you got ? keeper of secrets. I will totally roofie your ass
The band definitely won over new fans. I think a lot of that (besides how goddamn amazing they are as a live band) has to do with positioning. Playing after all the legends helps. Being introduced by Larry Campbell as (paraphrased) "one of the best American rock and roll bands" certainly helps and sharing the stage with Roger Waters is a huge boost.
The other thing to keep in mind is a LOT of the performers were older so the energy of MMJ wasn't really prevalent all night. Some of the biggest post-song reactions came from the super high-energy songs from the animated performers. Grace Potter doing "I Shall Be Released" on organs tore the house down, Joe Walsh directed a party by running around stage and signaling people to hit their solo, and My Morning Jacket just took all the love in the room and turned it into loud, high energy, beauty. There was a definite contrast in the second half of the night which had more oomph!. But they probably made it that way to slowly build to the crescendo of MMJ and Waters.

Well, this was obviously an AMAZING event. Looks like there was lots of video taken so hopefully something will surface outside of YouTube. Really glad the boys were a part of this and that some forum peeps got to take it in. Pretty incredible.
Thanks for sharing the stories and videos.

No screens at all. Also, I don't think this was streaming live. Seems to me they were filming for a DVD or special or something along those lines.

No problem. There were two cameras on either side of the soundboard (one on each side) and there were a few roaming cameras on stage and on the floor.
I noticed in this vid, at 2:10, when Roger takes the second verse, a cameraman sets up for a close up. I'd expect a DVD or HBO special or something. Who produced the event?

Still, they were filming a lot for something...
Well look at what I found. This is from b102.7 which is a radio station (i'm assuming it's the one that was mentioned at the beginning of the show as sponsoring it or something). Anyway, onto the details:
The show was filmed for a TV special and a DVD and CD release early next year. Proceeds will go to help paying the mortgage for Levon's home and barn in Woodstock, New York, which houses a recording studio and where his Midnight Ramble shows are held.
