Jazz Fest still has one headliner TBA for Sunday May 3rd.....???? Any insight??? It'd be their first non-OBH date of the year so far....

Doubtful. Radius clause due to Hangout and Quint Davis has said TBA hasn't been announced because artist is touring and may have a logistical issue with being able to be in NOLA at that time, which doesn't fit for MMJ...unless they're going to announce shows in advance of Hangout and JF?
Interesting. Thanks. That'd be crazy if Alabama and Jazz Fest conflicted contractually since NOLA is such a bigger market.

It looks like logistically they could play the eastern half of the country in May/June/July, then make it to Red Rocks by the 1st weekend in August.

How confident are you in those there murmurs?
moderately. i know some people who help book the venue. they're very tight lipped about details, but seem to drop hints to tease me. I can't tell if they're fucking with me or not.

hmmmmm
I mean they are obviously going on tour, and if Red Rocks has a bunch of dates open during that time of year it would be almost astonishing if they DIDN'T play there. It would also be astonishing if they only played one night. So the big question remaining would be, 2 or 3 nights. 2 28 song nights or 3 22-24 song nights? Gee, what a problem we have on our hands.
Early August would work PERFECTLY for me! I coach swimming and our summer season champs are at the end of July leaving August wide open for me to come out to Colorado for 3 nights of MMJ at Red Rocks!!!
I wish they would go ahead and announce the dates already. I'm getting anxious to we when/where I'm going to be able to see them this summer.
Also, since they are now playing Forecastle, I'm assuming a record release party in Louisville is now probably not happening? :undecided: I was actually hoping for this more than I was hoping they'd play Forecastle again this year. Oh well...

I mean doesn't it make sense? It's a perfect fest for them to play. I also think it would turn a lot of the heads on to the band who haven't heard of them yet.
I reckon we'll be looking at festivals all summer and then some "real" dates as the summer turns to fall and into winter.
Guarantee a New Years show somewhere. That's what we really need
Jazz Fest is out. The big TBA reveal turned out to be..........Lenny Kravitz (wump wump).
Guess they couldn't get Missy Elliot.

We always book ASAP. Except for a couple places right in Morrision that are pretty pricey, I believe the closest hotels are about 5 miles away. We usually stay in the area of Wadsworth and 285. Parking is free, but like most events, it can take a while to get out. I don't remember how much taxi's cost, but they are plentiful. There is some camping nearby, but we have never done that.
One thing you might look into is bustoshow.org. They have a couple pick-up/drop-off locations in the area. Get a hotel near one of those and get a ticket for the bus. From Boulder last year round trip was around $30 per person.
Here is some info from the Red Rocks website...

my advice is GO. if you don't spend a single dollar between now and then in order to save, it would be totally worth it.
We stayed at Sheraton Denver West last time. It was a nice enough hotel. Car rental is pricy, but you'll need a car. It's a beautiful place, but it isn't a cheap trip.

That's where we stayed the time before, and they offered some nice deals on staying there. I'm pretty sure more than a few of us got a third night free or reduced cost for booking two nights. It worked out great since we went out a day or two early. If they do a 2-3 night stand this time look for that deal.
A few of us from NYC/NJ flew out together from Newark, and went in on the car/SUV rental and gas. It worked out great, and kept the cost down. Even if people aren't flying together if you try and coordinate arrival times, splitting the car rental will help.
I'm sure if they announce RR dates they'll be plenty of posts on here, and easy enough to work out some plans.

I heard three nights at the Warfield from someone who seemed confident.
There will be a RR show but likely just one.
Look for a nice fall tour with multiple nights in various cities.
IMO, 2 of 3 of the new songs were awesome with the other being ok.
The band's energy was fantastic. Very refreshed. They are gonna bring it for sure on this next tour.
Bummed that there will be only 1 RR show, but HELL YEAH to 3 nights in SF. heres to hoping for some Cap shows

This is awesome news! I was so worried that they were going to play Outside Lands again.
I'm confident in the San Fran report. He works in radio out there and is not bs.
I'll have to ask the big Red Rock fans when it becomes official...... if you had to pick one destination with the choice being three SF shows versus one RR, I'd go for the three.
The new songs sounded amazing. One was particularly long with an extended medium paced jam. They sounded more like old songs (at least the ones from night 2 and 3) than the newer more unusual ones like Evil Urges, Black Metal, Highly Suspicious (which I also love).
I would take 2nights at red rocks over 3 nights anywhere, but 1 night is questionable. I hope to do 1 night of red rocks and 3 nights of SF
selfishly glad to hear the late summer, fall is targeted for larger tour since I can't hit any spring/summer shows.
Was hoping for a multi night run in RR, but 3 days in SF might do as well. Hoping for the MD/Philly run as well Eric, was hoping to add in a few shows as I don't usually do festivals.

I'm with you man. I'm not a fan of festivals either. Forecastle, and Mountain Jam were the exceptions for me.
I might hit up one ( Boston?) for an MMJ day to get my fix if it looks like they won't be doing their own shows til late Summer/Fall. Once they release their plans, I'll make mine. Most likely it'll be the ones closest to me (Philly/MD/NYC) with an eye on the multi night runs. Haha. Man that place was the best! It spoiled me forever. The night of the show we were going for dinner first, and going to get a cab, but the bellman says no way. We have a car service that'll take you! I'm not sure I can go to SF, and not stay there. LOL. If there were any venue in the country that i would drive 15 hours to see one show at, it would be Red Rocks. Everything about the experience is perfect. However.. man i just don't know. If that's true, which i would be baffled by, i'll have to make the decision when i see the rest of the tour.

I don't have any info otherwise but I would think the Warfield would be unlikely. APE entertainment has a history with the band and books The Fox, Bill Graham Civic & The Greek. Like Hangout Music fest or a solo MMJ show in Bama?!?!?!?!
While I know its nearly impossible because of the cost/benefit analysis that all acts go through, selfishly, I'd love for them to come back to Miami. They haven't been to Miami since August 2008. They were in West Palm Beach and Tampa back in June 2013 for the Americanarama tour which I was able to catch, but that was such a short set.
My schedule is always so hectic that travelling for shows is becoming more and more difficult. I told myself that if they don't make it down here I'd still make a trip get to a few shows...but it would be really neat if they made it down here for a night. Fingers crossed.
I heard through inforoo that someone spoke to the band at obh, and the band said they weren't getting a late night spot at bonnaroo. Can anyone confirm this?
damn... someone at bonnaroo truly has no clue what the hell they are doing if this is true. i'm basing this on how that statement was worded, btw.. it sounds like it wasn't the band's decision.
i come here everyday and when I click on the latest post link, I have a half-second of hope that tour dates are out there but then...

Tom said they are coming to Bama at OBH.
Hope they hit up Nashville, Atlanta, and Louisville too.
Like Hangout Music fest or a solo MMJ show in Bama?!?!?!?!
"Will we see you guys do a solo show in Bama this year?" was the specific question. So unless Tom misheard it, which I don't think he did but it's possible he misheard, plan on them coming through Bama for a solo show or three.
SpaceWrangler you are going to give me a fucking heart attack if you even HINT that they would play 3 nights in Bama. So be careful, because you may cause the death of another forum member

Hahah... That part is wishful thinking. My fault! I was just glad to get that little nugget that they're playing in Bama period
Come on, give us some official tour/album news.
You guys think they'll hit Europe in the fall, like in 2011 after Circuital came out? I don't have a job right now, but since last year I saved money for MMJ in 2015. This is my prime goal this year as for concerts outside of Israel.

I got a chance to speak with Tim Showalter from Strand of Oaks last night. He told me that he was hanging out with Jim in Louisville while they were rehearsing for OBH and he expects MMJ and Strand of Oaks to play a bunch of shows together this year. I for one would be all for that. They put on a show last night that was so much better than anything I expected. Absolutely crushed it and Id want to see them again as soon as I could
Pretty sweet! Hopefully he convinced him to play a night or two in philly (NOT in CAMDEN!!!) I'd prefer the Mann Music Center/Skyline Stage or Penn's Landing.

He also told me how "honored" he was that the all the guys showed up to one of his shows, and just how cool and down to earth Jim is. Nothing surprising, but always good to hear things like that
waiting patiently for some dates, hopefully soon they announce something
I'll bet a Klondike bar they do a Capitol Theater New Year's Eve run.
I think their album and single will be announced two Tuesdays from now. Basing that off of the Alabama Shakes announcement this past week.

lol i'll bet you 12 klondikes I'll be there
I predict a single 2 or 3 night stint in each timezone of the continental US, leading up to OBH3 in Punta Cana. The stops in the Mountain and Eastern timezones will be the same at those during the Circuital tour.

Can one of those 2 or 3 night stints be in Louisville? Give the Midwest some love MMJ, that's where you're from!
Whatever happens, it's going to be great. With this band, i've learned to expect the unexpected and that I will enjoy the hell out of whatever that turns out to be.

I'll take that bet.
I want to lose it, and I'll happily cough up the Klondike bar of your choice if I do but I really don't think we'll see Jacket at the Cap on NYE.

there will be a Cap run, but it remains to be seen whether it includes NYE.....
I would cream my jeans over 2 nights at MPP. Not gonna happen though so 1 MPP show will do.
