Title: ROLL CALL: Seattle Oct 2nd & 3rd (Moore Theater)
Post by: vespachick on Jun 18, 2015, 12:45 PM
Has anyone who is going been to the Moore Theater before, because what is the deal with balcony/second balcony GA? I'm hoping we get early entry to this bad boy....

The balcony at the Moore Theater is divided in two by a walkway, basically the upper half and the lower half. My guess is the upper half is GA and the lower is assigned seating.
Yes early entry please!

Thanks Vespa! Looking forward to our little pacific northwest run! I too am confused by the setup at the theatre. Our tix are GA balcony 2, but from the pictures I've seen it looks like they have seats.

Looks like we lost some posts in the cybermelt, reposting this...

I think I'm in for these shows. Assuming there's a pit, I'm ISO for each night.

Im thinking of heading out from MA for the shows and some nature (Mt Rainier and Olympic NP). Flights and hotels seem much more reasonable than a SF trip.

How is this venue? and is the Moore hotel a solid spot for exploring the city??

i just did the math... greek theater in Berkley 2307 miles from my house.  Moore theater in Seattle, amazingly, 2333 miles from my house.  i thought it wouldve been much further than 26 miles.

Venue is the best in Seattle IMO. Fantastic sound and incredibly intimate. Moore Hotel is right downtown. Walkable to Pike Place Market, Pioneer Square, waterfront and Seattle Center. You'll have a blast in our fine city :)

Eddie Vedder is not afraid to attend shows and join bands on stage unannounced for a song when they come thru Seattle.  I would not get my hopes up, but it is a slight possibility considering the two bands' history/friendship.  He popped up with the Supersuckers and the Sonics at tiny places this year and various other bands in the past.

Hey Everyone:

My wife and I just decided two weeks ago to fly in from Cleveland for our anniversary to attend Friday nights show. We don't have tickets yet and we're looking for two (2) floor ga. I know there's limited balcony ga available but holding out to try and get floor. If any other roll callers have extras please let me know. It's our first trip to Seattle and we're pumped to spend it with MMJ...and possibly Ed Ved (APR ).

Thanks

So, anyone ever meet the band before or after a show?  Curious to hear stories!  What they were like, how you got to meet them, was it random or did you stalk them out?  It's a dream of mine to meet them one day...maybe Seattle will be my time? :)

I have 4 sets of passes Sat & Sun for the Seattle shows.  GA orch floors.  I will more than likely not be able to make it down, so it would have to be a one shot sale.  The unfortunate stipulation is that they are at will call and I would have to provide you with all my intel, copy of drivers license and the ticket order receipt.  I understand they want to combat scalping, but it sure makes it tough when your schedule changes and you can't make the shows.  Feel free to contact me lazylightenin@gmail.com.

How do you know if they do early entry for roll call?  And if so, how do you make sure to be able to take advantage?  Do you just need to bring your fancy little laminated roll call membership pass?

anyone know if the moore allows ins/outs?  I'm far too impatient to get into the show 2 hours before show starts.  But would consider entering, saving a seat then heading back out to a bar (or is that a dicky move??)

no extras vespachick, sorry.  We are on the floor for friday, 1st balc saturday.  You?

also, the beer geek in me is thinking The Pine Box and/or Collin's Pub preshow.

I'm psyched you guys are getting this double shot as well as seeing the SH tix are even cheaper than when I posted. I saw them at around $55 which didn't seem bad at all to me. $44 now is great!

Stubhub gets a bad rap sometimes as people thinking it's all about scalping. It definitely can be, especially right after an onsale or months before a show but a lot of times there are great deals to be found close to show time. I saw some of these ga's going for $98 about six weeks ago, and now not only are they cheaper there's more of them too.

I'm sure all of you are going to see some great shows! Enjoy em, and looking forward to hearing all about them.

So question.  All the photos I see show seats on the floor.  Is the floor GA with seats, so first come first serve on the seats?

I also may have a couple plus ones for roll call early entry if peeps want to get in early.

Helluva sweet looking setlist!

The triple shot to end the main set is about as good as it gets IMO, combined with Tropics leading into it and that must have been amazing to experience.

What a show!  So right Murph, War into IWSYS is the greatest 1-2 punch and I was so glad to witness it. Dondante>PWW was epic as well. Can't wait to see what they roll out tonight.

Jim's sporting a new jacket/robe, floor length black satiny with some star type maybe embroidered patterns on it.

Right at 11.  No dance floors though.  From river through the end of the set was the most psychedelic stretch I've ever seen them play.

Cannot wait to see what they have in store for tonight

This was such an awesome show! The crowd energy was absolutely electric and the band feasted on it all night. Multiple times throughout the show I noticed Jim, Tom, and Carl looking out at the crowd, feeling and appreciating the energy and just smiling back at the pulsating mass of ecstatic fans. I'm really hoping for Carried Away tonight!

Damn, hard to choose which night I liked better. I've decided I don't have to- epic two night stand with great crowds and smartly written setlists. State of the Art was the definite highlight tonight- outta left field and WORKS as a Jacket song. Was surprised to hear nearly everyone in the orchestra singing along to it.

Here's a link to my tweet with the setlist:  https://twitter.com/JessD206/status/650568710537654272

Wow. Victory > Aeiou > Metal  couldn't have been bigger. Touch me part 2 was awesome but hard to follow those up.

Aeiou was a monster. And agreed, thank god other people knew the words since that allowed all of us to belt it out.

Friday night was indeed psychedelic and up my alley...but the "highs" were higher night 2. Evil Urges, Steam Engine, Touch Me pt 1, Dancefloors, Memories Remain.

Ill put that encore as best I've ever seen. If I can settle my thoughts I'll probably have more a review later.

I just got back home to Vancouver.
Absolutely EPIC two night stand for MMJ.
No repeats.
War Begun into I Will Sing is out of this world.
Phone Went West was huge.
Masterplan and Off The Record were great.

The band is just firing on all cylinders, true improvisation, long meandering stretches. There are times where they are literally playing for over 20 minutes no breaks. Carl and Jim soloing together in time was nuts. Jim looks confident as ever. Wore glasses entire shows pretty sure. His guitar playing looks effortless. Amazing lights, stage show.

What an incredible weekend. Gorgeous weather, great people, insane band.

I have lots of good pics and vids that will pop up later.

Just thought I would mention that if anybody bought one of the "band signed" deluxe die cut Waterfall LP's from the shows in Seattle:

You might want to count those signatures.

They merch bros said they had sold at least 5 before I pointed out that Patrick didn't sign any of them for some reason. Same thing the next night.

They had 2 complete rows of seats reserved for them (Just wonderful for a GA show, I still don't see why they let them do that. $$$ I'm sure) and they showed up 5 minutes before Jacket took the stage. Most of them were there just to yak to each other and didn't even seem to care there was a show going on that everybody else was there to see. Typical "Look at me" going on there. If I'm Dave Matthews, I say something, he should know how annoying that is.

...and i'll will reiterate the statements already made......those two seattle shows were some of the best mmj i've seen. i can't recall any run of songs i've seen live from mmj that top the closing of the set on fri. just phenomenal.

I agree nuggets. The Friday show was mind blowing. After letting a few days pass I think I can confidently say this was the best show I've seen since PC3 (which coincidentally also features War Begun>IWSYS). This may go down as the best MMJ show I've seen yet. And I'd like to think I'm not the type to regularly proclaim that shit is the "best ever." This show was fire folks, and Jim was doing this thing where he'd catch the overhead lights off his guitar and it turned into this beam of light that he was aiming throughout the crowd. It was crazy. I really hope a good recording surfaces because they killed. Hopefully was beautiful. Dondante featured a crazy Carl sax jam at the end, longer than usual is seemed. The whole thing was magical especially when combined with Seattle's quality edible selection.

Still reeling from both shows but in particular that Friday set.
I am a seasoned Live music fan and it was my 13th MMJ show an it was easily the best Jacket show I've seen and might have cracked my all time top 20 or so.

sorry for the numerous posts, but does anyone that was here have a video of that state of the art?
I sure hope so. I know I didn't was in such shock when it started just wanted to listen.
I can tell you this they definatly made it a Jacket song.
I'm still wrapping my brain around how great those two nights were, band was on fire, crowd was into it.
And by the way Dave Mattews was sitting right behind me Friday night. Not that I'm a fan but glad to know he was a fan of MMJ

and his crew were a bunch of douches.  we were right behind them and i was none too pleased with his friends.
We thought the same thing, just glad we were in front of them not behind them like you. Sorry you had to put up with that.

hahah I hope he was taking notes.  What were him and his friends doing... douche wise?
They had 2 complete rows of seats reserved for them (Just wonderful for a GA show, I still don't see why they let them do that. $$$ I'm sure) and they showed up 5 minutes before Jacket took the stage. Most of them were there just to yak to each other and didn't even seem to care there was a show going on that everybody else was there to see. Typical "Look at me" going on there. If I'm Dave Matthews, I say something, he should know how annoying that is.

i wasnt so concerned with the seat saving as much as the attitude and behavior.  other than the above, there were two dudes right in front of us in particular.  one of them was trying to crowd surf and after 2 polite straight arms to keep him off my wife the third came out a little more forceful than the others... that seemed to stop the crowd surfing but not the other obnoxiousness.  i would like to add that dave didnt really do much at all, he was very chill but got super excited during they ran of all songs.  his wife was really getting after it.  she seemed like she was a big fan, or just happy to not be at a DMB concert.

You must have been sitting right next to us. We were the row behind them and those assholes completely ruined night 1 for us. During Hopefully, of all songs, one special female member of the DMB entourage turns around and says to her friend "lets play who around us would you fuck?" At that point my husband finally lost it and asked her to shut the fuck up...to which she responds "you're ruining my vibe, man." Ruining YOUR vibe? Entitled assholes.

I was planning to only see the Friday show, but was so floored again I had to come back Saturday. Here's the old reflecting guitar mentioned up thread. Also hoping for some recordings! (http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/10/16/deb28d0cb56d205fada4acdea5beea9d.jpg)

still no Seattle recordings huh? Boooooh!  Of the 5-pack of west coast shows I caught, Seattle 1 and SF 1 were the major highlights.  Starting to give up hope on Seattle 1.

MMJ has been on Dave Matthew's record label since 2003 - the Waterfall was released on Capitol/ATO together but everything post At Dawn and Jim and Carl's solo stuff is all on Dave's record label.

agree that it's a bummer that no recording has surfaced. i'd also like to vent how frustrating it is that mmj records every one of their shows, yet most never get to the fans. why in the world every show isn't being put online in some form is beyond me. if you're already recording it, the extra time and cost to put a digital download up is minimal. bands with much smaller financial footprints do it all the time. having a recording of a show i was at completes the experience for me. shows like seattle or burlington '10 or the keene jim and carl show are now just fleeting memories with no chance to relive the musical moments that put a smile on my face and make trudging through everyday life a little easier. *smh and kick rocks*
