It was great to meet you and your wife man! You two were too friendly and made me reevaluate my feelings about Philadelphians and Phillies fans in general. ;)

;D See! We're not all that bad. The national media likes to paint Philly sports fans as a pack of savage a-holes. While there might be a few douchers in the crowd, most of us are pretty chill.
Looking forward to getiing our drink on & hitting up a show in the future!

You can see my attempt to make the group hug larger than LIFE :o ...that I could not pull off, unfortunately...

one of my favorite moments (so, ok, there were A LOT) was during touch me part 2, when i looked over to where haldon had been rocking out @ the rail & seeing john there instead - w/ the biggest smile on his face. how wonderful of haldon to swap spots so john could get a front row view of jim's sweet 'chord action. it made me feel very warm & fuzzy inside.
similarly - watching the sea of people part like the red sea for trish to make her way to the rail for careless whisper.
i miss all you good people very, very much :(

T5 reunion :-?
Thanks, Liz. That was definitely one MAJOR highlight of the night. I didn't know who to thank for giving me the rail for TM2, but how many of you can now say you saw near-perfect air-Omnichord?
When I needed to recover after the Everest set and probable dehydration, getting back to the near-rail from the roof was an adventure, but no one gave me any shit as I pressed my way through the crowd. I missed Evil Urges and had to stay put during each song before continuing forward. But I made it! And soulshine was my saving grace. I owe you a case of bottled water! If I had to find something negative about my 24 hour adventure, I can't think of anything except maybe the traffic in and out of Long Island (much worse when your bladder is full!). Oh, and I found a $20 on the floor of T5 after the show!
C Bear and Gundy! You two were the nicest, coolest west coast cats. Awesome chillin' outside at Joe's and rockin' out on Z night with Gundy coming through topping off my drink in the pit. ;D [smiley=beer.gif]
to all my friends and fellow T5 party animals, we all miss it and always will. Obviously there were too many great moments to mention and the moments at the rail with all you crazy groupies were larger than life. What was always especially cool for me was that it seemed that we all knew while we were experienceing the smiles, laughter, high fives, moments of transcendental nirvana and just simple fun, was the sense that we all were actually living in the moment, sucking it all in and never once questioning how freakin' awesome the whole experience was. We knew when we lived it. I would rather see my next MMJ show with all of you who I spent T5 nights with than other friends who I've known for years and years.
And by the way, I like the name woodnymph (and the sweet soul behind the name as well) and think it should stick!
I agree (w/whoever said it upstairs there), I loved watching Haldon rocking out on the rail. He was a point of reference no matter where I was.
Headhunter, meeting you (and the MRS) was a real highlight for me. You just couldn't contain your joy at being there, and it was great listening to you all and Trish and Bob talk about your children (and those kids have NO idea how cool their parents are for rocking out at an MMJ show...so many nights in a row!)..in any case....

YES! Ideally sooner rather than later...
Miss you guys! :)
Every morning at work I park my car across the street from the Festival Pier, which always makes me think of MMJ and which currently makes me think of T5. 2 weeks later and Im still cracking a smile every morning. All the videos are nice, but I do wish there were some tapers there. Although in a way it almost adds to the whole mystique thats settling in over memories...what a fucking blast...

Not to knock the other posters but how ridiculous is the Burwell poster? I like a lot of his stuff but his MMJ stuff just stands apart. Im really not a "collector" of anything but I consider that stuff art worth having.

Gotta agree with you here. I like them all, but the Burwell is my favorite, by far. It seems like every time I find myself looking at it, I see something new.
It almost has a 3D effect to it, like everything is popping right out of the poster.
Along with all the memories, this is another great thing I'll always have from that amazing week in NYC and T5. 8-)

Oh my gosh Jeff -- no we didn't :( you caught us! We know where we are putting them and they will be altogether, but we just haven't had the chance to get it done yet.
Truth be told, I am a bit of a procrastinator :) As soon as we do it, I will post it up here.
Hope you are well!
Beth says hi and to send a photo once you frame them and get em on the wall!
I procrastinate too but putting these up was a priority for me. A Daily reminder of the year's best week.

And we discussed the poster-putting-up at McGee's...all part of the
ocd :)
QuoteHey eric, trish & bob-- did you guys frame & hang your posters yet? All 5 together or separate around the house?
Jeff,
Absolutely framed and hung together on the Sunday after T5! ;D I had a nice spot set aside for them, and have the Louisville Steam Boat one in there too, for a nice six-pack. ;) Two rows of three across. I've got my Bitchin' Soul Situation and Rock,Soul, Danger stickers in there also, at the bottom of the ISM frame.
Now I'm just trying to figure out where to put the Branjo Louisville one. I really like that one , but it's a bit smaller, 13"x19". I think I'll just have to put it in between the Philly and Vermont ones.
Tell Beth I said hi too, and can't wait til we can all get-together again.
Anyone know of a MMJ cover band? ;) I'm jonesin!!

I always lose my voice doing karaoke, but count me in on this one too!!!
:)

I've already been fortunate enough to hear Johnny play live and if he is doing another show on the east coast, i'll be up on the rail.

I was only there one night, but I remember looking over and watching Woody groove with Liz and Laura on the rail. She and the rest of you guys made me realize the whole week must have been fantastic. By the way, do you mind that I call you Woody, Jen?
one of my favorite moments (so, ok, there were A LOT) was during touch me part 2, when i looked over to where haldon had been rocking out @ the rail & seeing john there instead - w/ the biggest smile on his face. how wonderful of haldon to swap spots so john could get a front row view of jim's sweet 'chord action. it made me feel very warm & fuzzy inside.
similarly - watching the sea of people part like the red sea for trish to make her way to the rail for careless whisper.

Jeff, you are too kind. He heard me play a malfunctioning OM-200m. I've since picked up a fully functional unit and hope to record Touch Me Part 2 after the Patriots win lose this afternoon. I'll post it here and on my site.
Lil sis, thanks for posting the picture. It was a highlight for me to occupy the rail for a version of TM2 with some 'chord flourishes I'd never heard from Jim before. Everyone was so generous and accomodating then and throughout the night.
And my eyes actually glow red when I hear the laser harp. ;)
Stay tuned...
EDIT: Well, Pats lost, baby's sick, its pitch black at 5:30, recording will have to wait.

It's what I do brother.... ;)
Why does that picture of JohnnyY remind me of Buzz Lightyear? ;D I mean it in the best possible way!
QuoteWhy does that picture of JohnnyY remind me of Buzz Lightyear? ;D I mean it in the best possible way!
Probably because they both use lazers in some form:
Buzz = Lazer beams
JohnnY = Lazer harp
Just a theory

Hi everyone!
That's why I love live music. It's that brief moment between songs when you wonder what will come next and you hold your breath then...ahhhhh...
Well, here it is. I'm not happy with it, but its an 8 minute run through of Touch Me Part 2 as one take, no multiple tracks or other tricks- live, you might say, and solo. I kept flourishes out for you karaoke nuts to insert your lovely voices. Interesting that it came within 7 seconds of the original.
Download mp3 here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5QECPL3U
I also posted it on YouTube, for instant gratification without the download. Random assortment of MMJ-related images to give you something to look at. Enjoy.

its funny because I remember right before they were about to play touch me pt 2, I turned to look towards Johnny to see his reaction, and I saw him moving from a few rows back towards me. of course I knew what I had to do. one of my favorite moments of the week was watching Johnny play the "air omnichord" during the opening of the song, then completely rocking his face off (so much so that I had to protect myself from the dreaded backwards headbutt) for the rest of the song.
It was awesome.

I would LOVE to see a video of Johnny Yac air-omnichording.

I love the generosity of the people on this board. Giving up a spot on the rail so JY can jam. Touches me right in the heart place.
Aw, shucks! You're making me blush, which is pretty intense with my bald pate. Not only were folks generous giving me the rail for some laser harp, they insisted on it! I wasn't going to ask, but I was carried by a wave, the waters parted. Sorry for the near-miss head-flails, Haldon. I probably came pretty close to knocking skulls with Penny throughout the night. Did anyone suffer a headbanging headbang?
FUUUUUUU,,,,,,, JY listening to your omnichord (lazerharp) recording has made me long so much to play my omnichords. They are both currently in a cargo box along with pretty much everything else I own on the long voyage across the pacific ocean in a cargo ship.
I never really thought much about how much I missed all my shit until just now.
we will have a omnichord hoedown for sure in feb in the jersey!

I just noticed, 6 minutes in, capt. scotty and crispy dead ahead!
i miss oldschool bonnaroo
OK so I just thought of something.
I was laying on my mattress at about 9 am ish on the morning after It Still Moves. I was just laying there thinking about how amazing the night before was and how I could possibly handle any more of this ridiculousness. I probably fell asleep the night before around 5 am or so (thanks to danz and the goddam Brickyard) and I hear a bit of stirring from the other peeps at the group home. It was coming from the "living room" which was about 37" from my bedroom.
I'm pretty sure it was Tyler and this was the quote......(paraphrasing)
"Man, I hope tonight is not as good as last night. I mean, I don't even WANT anything to be better than last night. It just wouldn't be right. I don't know if I could even take it."
It was so true.
I miss THAT.

HAHAHA. Classic. So many great quotes from the week.
I found in my phone a little memo where I put funny quotes and things from the NYC week. Completely forgot about it. I found this one, which came from Tyler who heard it from a random guy in the crowd after a show:
"When I get back I'm going to sh*t in Angie's pillowcase."
;D

So true. Each night
was just as good, if not better than the last. I've been hesitant to even try to rank them because I loved each night for so many different reasons.
When people ask me about the trip and I explain that I stayed in a shoebox with 9 other people, most of whom I'd never met before, and that no, it wasn't awkward at all and in fact I miss the heck out of them and can't wait to do it again...well, most folks don't get that. ;D

Hahah good call! I've been meaning to throw on here that I verrrrrry randomly was window shopping in Woodstock, the Sunday right after the T5 run, and the Ruckus frog hat was right in a decked-out window display!! It made me smile & I chuckled to myself already nostalgic about the week :)
during my drive to work this morning i remembered this:
toward the end of night one, crispy yelling, "Lil Billy! Give it to me!" right before the band played it. awesome!
and this: over the weekend i put on the jacket i took to nyc, but hadn't worn since. in the pocket: a handful of dark hershey's kisses! (ky, did you bring those?) chris and i were trading chocolates and lozenges all week. ;D

Not sure if you saw the post Yvon, but a few weeks ago I went to hand my boss something out of my jacket pocket and I pulled out a "Bitchin' Soul Situation" sticker. She was highly amused...

Ha! Almost as good as the Cap'n calling the opener EVERY SINGLE NIGHT!
Ky did bring the chocolates, and they were great! I had the last of mine just the other day. The lozenge trick is brilliant, and I was wishing I had remembered it last week at the two-opener Dr. Dog show.
McGees and the walk to T5. The pre-show lineups outside T5 and even the rooftop deck lineup before the mad rush downstairs. Plenty of great folks and chats in all those hours. 8-)

Quote...a few weeks ago I went to hand my boss something out of my jacket pocket and I pulled out a "Bitchin' Soul Situation" sticker. She was highly amused...
;D [smiley=beer.gif]
Quoteduring my drive to work this morning i remembered this:
toward the end of night one, crispy yelling, "Lil Billy! Give it to me!" right before the band played it. awesome!
and this: over the weekend i put on the jacket i took to nyc, but hadn't worn since. in the pocket: a handful of dark hershey's kisses! (ky, did you bring those?) chris and i were trading chocolates and lozenges all week. ;D
Yes, I did! Awww.
This isn't exactly an "I miss", but I had THE FUNNIEST dream last night. It didn't last very long, but here goes: We were at T5 for one of the shows and after the lights went up, Jim came out and started handing out setlists to people. He wasn't looking in my direction, so I had a banana in my hand and I held it up to my ear like a phone and started
screaming: "JIM! JIM I'm calling you! Jim! Answer your phone!!! I want that setlist...ANSWER YOUR PHONE!" I never got it. Probably Penny Lane did...
I woke up with the biggest smile. ;D
I think your dream is better than the actual set list Ky!

that is fuckin' hilarious!
QuoteQuoteI miss looking around the crowd between tunes and making "holy SHIT can you believe this!?!?!" eye contact with random forum members and somehow always finding Ruckus' ridiculous hat...seeing that frog rockin' is for some reason a really vivid memory of the whole week ;D
Hey alright...I'm glad Kermit brought good energy ;D I bought that thing at the Fells Point street festival down my way from some vendor and I was thinking this is pretty cool. Then I saw the same thing at a vendor in the Village on the way to McSorley's on Wednesday night and it took away some of its luster. :'( Now Woodstock? ;D
yes you have a great hat and scarf collection!
Ky-great dream!! but of course, i got the setlist even in YOUR dreams..i mean..

i bring a handful of them when i see a show. if i get really thirsty i just pop a lozenge. this also helps with not having to drink too much, take bathroom breaks, etc. that is the trick, i guess. ;)
some venues have rules against bringing candy or gum into a show, but i haven't had problems with the lozenges.
berminal: i steered clear of the pretzels. although darkglow testified to their garlicky goodness, i had to decline.
Wow, I'm taking notes...ms. y, you are my concert guru! :)

damn these pretzels are making me Thirsty!!!!

eating SUPERHOT chips at 3 am while giving some folks a tour of the 10th ave 10 apt.
waking up every morning to be boarded in by BH and having to step over him to get some water
"playing" spades at 4 am
communal drunk history viewing! it's just not the same now!
skype with tyler's buddies
Every single thing mentioned in this thread. I want it all to happen again...
thought this might be the best place to post an update:
saw the doctor this morning and he took me off my crutches!!!
it's been 2 1/2 months since that fateful step on ISM night. thank you to everyone who helped me get around (hobbling, taxis, crutch purchasing!), to dan for asking the bartender at the brickyard for ice for my foot, capt. scotty for the comforting medical review, to paul and given to fly for gallantly giving me great spots at the last 2 shows, crispy enlisting the stalwart jdbartender to leave the pit to buy me a bottle of water.
special shout to the 10th ave Ten for bringing me coffee and water and toothpaste when i couldn't get around the apt. so well.
must start my training regimen to gear up for festival season!
CRUTCH FREE IN 2011!!
shnikies yvon! I didn't realize how serious it was that you have been on crutches this entire time. Bummer! But I'm glad your almost recovered. Was it a fracture?
Dang Ms. Y! Glad your better. That was more of a doozy than I thought. Rail chasing is a dangerous business. :)
Holy cats, yvon! Didn't realize you still had a bad wheel! Glad to hear it's improved - fully expect you to be in fighting form for those summer tour dates!
Big hugs, my dear. Hope you're 100% soon!
Hooray for losing the crutches! And for reminding me to give props to jdbartender for being willing to brave his way through the crowd close to game time, which got harder as the week went on. Although danz wouldn't have had a problem either. ;)
i was listening to the new decemberists album on the NPR stream site last night and LOL'd thinking about when i showed you guys (ChiefOKONOS, BH, ralph, chrispy, +more)that "here come the waves" film that was basically "hazards of love" visualized with all those trippy effects and plus we were all watching in an altered state at 3-4am
^^^ i'm sorry to have missed that!
thanks all! turns out what i'd imagined to be a "bad bruise" was a broken 5th metatarsal bone in my right foot. the first time i saw an x-ray of it i got a little weak in the knees. aside from trying to walk on it the first couple days it didn't cause me any pain. i am lucky, there.
i've been wearing an unfashionable "surgery shoe" this whole time. i've got 2 more weeks in this shoe before i can get into sneakers.
a funny result of this is that instead of my apt. being littered with shoes, it is littered with only left shoes. :D
crutch free=bad assery
that's great ms y!! you were such a trooper..i was standing outside T5 on NYE telling people to be careful of the stampede (there wasn't one, never like i'd seen with MMJ) because of my friend who had that happen to her..

Tyler, thanks for the reminder, I really need to check that out again. Ms y, I was there, and I missed it!
Also, I lolled at the image of hundreds of left sneakers littering your place. Rock, Sole, Danger! ;D
Ms. Y, I remember, after Evil Urges, we're all setting up for the big group photo and no one knows where you are. I ended up convincing security to let me back into T5, asking staff and roadies if they'd seen a woman on crutches. I must admit, however, that soon my focus was on how far I might penetrate the depths of T5, maybe catch the fellas out back before getting bounced. Once it was clear you weren't there, however, I decided not to push my luck and returned just in time for the photo. And you showed up, I think. Where were you?
wow! thanks for trying to dig me up! i watched the show in the balcony. afterward i ran into a friend that i had no idea was going to be there. (!) we fell to talking and stayed until we got swept out the door. we got to see some of the rigging coming down. a cool way to wrap the week.
by the time i got back to the apt just about everyone was asleep or still out.
i did see capt. scotty at about 5am. i got up for some water and he was sitting with his suitcases in the common area. he looked exhausted. he said he didn't want to fall asleep and miss his bus/taxi, so he was just going to stay up. :D

Decade-old European magazines featuring old, naked, extremely ugly former soccer stars and their hot wives. Yeah, I miss those.
I also miss Tyler's skypes, especially the ones with his mom!

hey now - that's my video. thank god for being able to rest my elbows on the rail, it helped me keep 'er somewhat steady. i wanted to record it because i knew it would be
ridiculous, but i really didn't want to experience that moment thru my camera's viewfinder. so it sorta worked out :)
honestly, i've been shying away from the T5 youtube videos for a while. i was totally hooked on them after the run & went on my own run of mmj only for weeks & weeks. so much so that it seemed to amplify my sorrow that "
IT" was all over. but since the reunion and especially now w/ the new album release coming up soon, i fell off the wagon in a major way & once again cannot get enough of these videos!
i miss T5 week. everything about it. but i so love that this thread keeps on keepin on.
Liz, thanks so much for recording!!! I might be ready to watch too!!! Yet still feel a little sad inside when I think T5, it was just toooo amazing!!! :'(

can't lie, Val - it is bittersweet watching this stuff & reminiscing. i think the sad part is knowing that it's something that can never be duplicated, ever.
 to making some new memories during the upcoming tour
been listening to T5 AD every spare moment I have had today.
the guitar solo on Honest Man and the unbelievable Phone Went West
I just get lost in that shit!!!
I've been avoiding everything MMJ since T5.. skipping the vids, haven't been to the forum etc. My buddy just told me about the T5 countdown to circuital and when I saw the posters from the shows all lined up it hit me why.. I was scared it wouldn't get any better than that incredible week! But now there is stuff to look forwards to again so I don't get so bummed reading this board. Happy to back and hope to see some of you this summer, Mtn Jam maybe? Cheers

No you're not! Hahaha! I love this.
My god I miss that week. I'll never forget when we were at Joe's Pub and I walked over to talk to you, Trish, and you just kind of pushed me at Johnny Quaid and you said, "OH HERE'S KY!" as if he was supposed to know me. Hahahaha. Then he put his arm around me and you took our picture. My knees wobbled a little bit....

He was so awesome, wasn't he?? He was especially patient with my jibber jabbering and PRing....Seeing that OBH video brought it all back. I CANNOT believe we got to hang out with him!
i have a stash of stickers left from the T5 run. found them along with 3 of the 2nd wave Rampant Badassery stickers. (1 ear-marked for Crispy! )
if you're in the market for a BITCHIN SOUL SITUATION or ROCK, SOUL, DANGER! sticker hit me up!
they both have this phrase in smaller text under the slogans, " MMJ TCB T5 NYC, 2010"
that's MMJ - Take Care of Business - Terminal 5
it can be trimmed off if you don't want to be tied to acronyms, yo.
PM me your address and i'll get you some stickers in the mail.

Oh man Yvon, this is some wild cross country vibe thing going on tonight. :cheesy: I was just moving some posters around earlier today and I have one of each of these wedged in the frames of three of my T5 posters. They've been in there since the shows and of all nights to rehang some and see your stickers it's tonight when you posted about them.
I was looking at the TCB thing and wondered if it did mean Taking Care of Business, and said to myself, I'm gonna have to ask you about that next time I see you, and then you go and make your post!!
That was one hell of a week, and the Rampant Badassery hasn't stopped since! In fact it's gotten more Rampant.
haha! that's fantastic eric! happy new year, my friend!
love your sig line, too
(side bar: we could really use a dancing emoticon on the forum. note to self: talk to yacc.)

I hear ya on the bump!
You know it had to be another great personal interaction to get me to change from the schnitzengrubens.
Long story short, it's just one of the great lines from the always classic Yvon setlist notes. night 2 outside the Beacon-PWW.
I swear when everyone is going towards the stage to get a band setlist, I'm looking for Yvon.

Same to you Yvon, and I really hope you've kept your setlist notes from all your shows. It would make a great book from the road type thing. I know I'd buy a copy!

AbsoLOOTly! Although I know she'd have to gather them from all of the random places she's stashed them so as to serendipitously run across them now and again.

I can totally see that!
They'd have to be printed just like the originals too. More like a pic of the notes scrapbook style. No particular order, written on whatever's handy, a few songs here, flip it over for a few more, some written sideways, etc. Man, I know there'd be a lot of real gems in there.
it'd have to be annotated. a photo on the facing page with notes deciphering the scrawl.
maybe some circles and arrows...
i have one at work written on a torn open envelope. one note is: I'M FEELIN IT!
