QuoteI think the point is being missed. It's not about the Oscars or acting or Milk or pole smoking or what we need or don't need around here. Just wanted to know what some of you thought about the original post. Or see what all your thoughts were about some of your dogs (not cats), things that has happened with you and your dogs how for would you go to care for them. Like health issues(Lokey apparently had one). It's hard to lose a dog you guys might know. A friend I hadn't seen for a while told me he recently lost a dog, then added that it was harder than losing his mother. One might think it was a cold and awful thing to say. I somewhat understood having both experiences myself. Some valid points were made here on those other very important issues. I know this is also an issue of how we respond to what others say so it does relate back to all the other stuff. Nonetheless this thread did go to the dogs. More bad dog news seems Leona Hemsley's family is suing the dog that got the 12mil when she checked out and they might win.I am really worried for that dog's well being. Peace edtombell.

I wish I could own a dog... What kind do you have Ed?
Two Lhasa Apsos and a Yorky 8-) Hey thanks for asking man ;)

AWWWWWWW!!! Cute.
but come on...there's nothing sexy about poop. Nothing.  -bbill

Those are some cute pups Sheriff, and your love for dogs is really evident in your posts. Sorry the thread took a turn into a big fight...I know you meant for it to be something else.

One of these days we'll get a dog, now that we have a big yard for it to romp around in. My wife likes the BIG, FURRY dogs like Newfoundlands and Bernese Mountain Dogs, but Sac is too hot for them. I like Retrievers and Hounds. We both have a crush on Beagles and English Bulldogs. It might be a few years before we get one though...

Thanks bbill. Fight ? What fight? That's what threads do I've heard. Only tying to have a little fanboi, home flick up, nOOb, 3name fun. It is hot here it does play a part. If you like a lot of big dog shit and carrying 50lbs bag of food then get a big dog,or 3 if not so much go small. Good Luck my friend.etb

I know that Lhasa Apsos' live longer lives, about 15 to 18 if I'm correct. How old are they all now?

i totally see where mickey is coming from- i would be- will be heartbroken when my pup dies.  She is 14 now (hard of hearing, trouble walking, trouble seeing) But when something is part of your life for 14 years- since i was 9- that becomes very important to you.  Its a family member- dog lovers always say that- non-owners don't really understand that concept- but this creature is always there, senses emotions and reacts accordingly, how could you not grow attached to a living creature like that?

not to start anything again- but SP is an incredible actor- he always has been.  MR is trying to turn his life around- good for him- and a lot of the appeal comes from everyone wanting to see a happy ending- from what I can tell- he is a great actor too, but time will tell for that.
Oh I'll never say I knew you, but my heart can't wait to meet you on the other side

QuoteIm still pissed Sean Penn got the best actor Oscar over Mickey. Even if you thought Penn was slightly better, you gotta give it to Mickey for career achievement over Penn who I think already had 2-3 Oscars before this one.

i disagree. he gets the sentimentality votes but i'm a little over these hollywood has beens coming back to reclaim their shot at fame. i'm all for turning your life around and putting down the booze but that shouldn't win him an oscar. he was a great fit for that movie, but Sean Penn has honed his craft for 30 years, and even though i was nauseous reading about him and hugo chavez, he deserved that oscar because he's the better actor.

i guess i have more sympathy for the average joe who gets up every day and slugs it out at his factory job to put food on the table than for mickey rourke. but hey, we've all got our demons, just sayin.

not the most feminine thing to say but GET OFF MICKEY ROURKE'S NUTZ ALREADY!  ;)

that's a great point penny. I'll take it a step further and say the Mickey Rourke love fest (and I have always loved the man, since Rumblefish) reeks of homoeroticism. Here's the guy, ex-drunk, ex-boxer, he cusses, loves his dog, famous, can score women; he's a lot of guys' dream man of who they would "like" to be. He's a man's man!

That's why he gets the accolades from the shallow, testosterone driven man clan, whereas Sean Penn gets dismissed b/c he portrayed a "pole smoker". I'd say it's a projected rejection of feminine energy; femininity being seen as weak, but in actuality, Sean Penn played the braver role as Harvey Milk.

There's a lot going on in these posts, but you have to pay attention.  ;)
You can hint a me being a homo all you want, it doesn't bother me.

Not homoerotic, but homoeroticism; ism. I suggest you do a little homework and figure out what homoeroticism means. You seem a wee bit (no pun intended) defensive about the subject.

sure, I can ignore you.

I would just challenge you to own your hateful expressions like "pole smoker" rather than try to make some bullshit elaborate justification for using such a term and then copping out by saying you're tired of having to explain your jokes to me.

I understand what the term pole smoker means, no need to "explain". I also understand gay bashing, no need to "justify".

Try to clean it up a little bit, that's not what we're about here.
