QuoteLike Jaimoe said, saw Crazy Heart 'at' the weekend.

Im still confused if @ actually means 'at' then

Saying you saw a movie "at the weekend" doesnt make sense in American speak. 'At' would be like how Jaimoe used it in terms of where you saw it, not when you saw it. Maybe its a Brit slang or something?

Then again, I was totally wrong in the "A or An Historic" thread with my grammar as well.  ;D
I've always said 'at' the weekend. Maybe it's British English? Or maybe I'm just wrong? Thank goodness I don't teach English or anything  ;D :-[

It think it's a Brit thing, DB.  It's probably now a Japanese thing too!

Revolutionary Road - I'm really not sure what to make of this movie. It was quite slow & very little happened yet I found myself mesmerized. Both Leo & Kate seemed a little over the top at times yet I can't fault their performances. I didn't care much for either of their characters yet was devestated by what happened to them. The more I think about it the more I think this is an exceptional film (& whilst there was no statue of liberty in the sand the simplicity of the final scene had a huge impact on me) Has anyone else seen it?

Seeing Michael Shannon made me think I want to watch Shotgun Stories again...that movie is like something straight out of a DBT song.

I saw RR.  Great performances.  Fucking depressing.  Can't decide, kinda like you said, if this was a great film or a horrible waste of time.  I'm almost tempted to say (and I guess I am actually saying it) that it was a happy ending.  I can't explain without spoilers, so I'll hope you dig where I'm coming from if you've seen it.
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

I know what you mean. This was my sister's rental but she decided it was too heavy to bother with. Had she & my brother-in-law watched it I can guarantee they would have found it to be a horrible waste of space.

We were watching the Reader together, the movie was nearly finished & I was completely engrossed when my sister turned around said with a huge sigh "Yeah this is two hours of my life I'm never getting back!"

This is sitting next to the TV and is next on my list to watch.  Thanks for keeping it mysterious!

Let us know what you think Mark. Fingers crossed you won't fall onto the 'yeah that was a complete waste of time' side of the fence  ;)

Crazy Heart - Awesome!!! Loved it.  But then, one can't really go wrong with a Jeff Bridges movie.  Got the soundtrack too.

The Hurt Locker - supremely bad ass.  Going to have to buy that DVD.

Precious - didn't like it though I really wanted to.

Cool Hand Luke

totally didn't get how that movie was "good" when my dad made us watch it when my sister and I were younger.  This time though, I really enjoyed it, a little slow, but its an older movie.  The acting was really great and the story was pretty good too!

I've read a lot of very different reviews for this. Some critics loved it, some didn't. Ghosts wasn't a fan, you thought it was awesome...I wanted to see it but can't decide now  :-/

I think it's one of the best movies of the '60s; a decade that isn't considered too strong in the history of film. Cool Hand Luke may be the sweatiest film of all time.

Cool Hand Luke is a great movie, It's a pet peeve of mine when someone says a good movie is too slow.
I think 60's was a very good film decade : Psycho, The Birds, The Graduate, Cool Hand Luke, Rosemary's Baby, Easy Rider, The Good The Bad And The Ugly, Dr. Strangelove, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Bonnie And Clyde. I especially like the look of the late 60's films.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

And one of my favorites from that era, the original Flight of the Phoenix, with Jimmy Stewart, Richard Attenborough, and Ernest Borgnine.  Great film.

I've been looking for Cool Hand Luke for the past couple of weeks but can't find it anywhere. My video store didn't even have it. I really want to see it.
How loud can silence get?

I was just a foolish high schooler, listening to my punk rock and hating my parents when my dad first had us watch it.  I fell asleep on the floor I thought it was boooooorrrring.  This time though, super awesome, I keep wondering if I too could eat "50 egg"

I love the orignal Flight of the Phoenix (I'm a huge James Stewart fan).

There are lots of great '60s films including my favourite, Planet of the Apes. I also love the first two Pink Panther films and The Party. Blow Up kicks ass too. But if you compare the '60s with films from the '30s-'50s and the other Golden Age of Film, the 1970s, the '60s isn't as strong. Not saying it's weak, but it's not as important, historically speaking.
