QuoteAlso, I can't even believe im debating this. Name one kol song that can even sniff the ass of an MMJ b-side. Dear Wife, el caporal, Chills, Where To Begin etc.

Most of the songs off their first 2 releases kick ass, IMO. The louder the better.

Trani?  Dusty?  Fucking awesome.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

I think its just not my thing. I dont really dislike them. I just dont think they can stand up to a battle against Yim Yames and the boys.

just for the hell of discussing nothing to be taken seriously at all. I just saw kol in concert and while i think they're good and tight live, they aren't as a show as mmj. mmj will do jams change up the song and stuff and kol just plays it.  I also thinks looks also got them where they are. at the concert it was two types of people : college guys and college to teeny girls screaming for the band. I'm not saying mmj is made up of ugly people . I did think KOL's guitarist did look like the 4 jonas brother. (he looks 14) maybe i'll make a thread on the kol forum and see what they say> :D

i don't really get the comparison either. KOL are good at what do and i think it ends there. I don't think any member of the band has any music direction or vision, other than Caleb always knowing he wanted to be famous. MMJ have infinite potential and have taken risks and are so versatile..i just don't see the comparison w/these 2 at all. Anyone who spends times on boards (what i've heard people have done other alt rock boards) contemplating this doesn't really get MMJ at least.

KOL-i loved their first 2 albums and parts of their other 2. but i had to write a letter to the editor about that RS article. Austin Skaggs either portrayed (or exposed) them as a bunch of poseur pretty boys who care way too much about partying and being cool, basically record company pawns. Not even because it really seems like they just don't care. There wasn't one mention of music in there other than the shout outs to Wilco and Ryan Adams for having enough balz to play country tunes. At least they recognize what they are in it for (at least for right now).

but come on...there's nothing sexy about poop. Nothing.  -bbill

Which ones Leon?

I find the vocals grating so I am unable to listen to them.

Leon is their grandfather's name.

If this gets printed, let us know!

Your profile picture is awesome  8-)

I really like the first three KOL albums but I just can't get into Only By The Night (except for Cold Desert and Closer). MMJ have never disappointed me.
I think Caleb is a really good songwriter though.
How loud can silence get?

I have always read Rolling Stone and used to wonder about the covers, not too hard to figure out.
"Pan the Dead and put The Village People on the cover. Fuck You!" Is how Paul Kantner said it in a letter once.
RS had n-sync or the back door boys on the cover of their rag when inside there were obits for Doug Sahm and Rick Danko!
We keep Rolling Stone in the bathroom for a reason. No Paper No Worry.
I wonder why they don't print my letters.,
Not the one thing. I used to think I
could at least some way put things right.

So why still buy it when there are alternative, arguably far better music mags out there? Mojo & Uncut are good examples, recent covers? John & Yoko, Jimmy Page, Neil Young, Stone Roses, Nick Drake etc  :)
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

RS isn't the only mag in the house,we have others.
Just sayin' the cover photo issue is nothing new, famous people see it too hence the name drop. Thanks for reply if you come over you don't have to use Rolling Stone :)
