I'll be pulling for the Sooners. Normally, I pull for the SEC teams in Bowl games, but my dislike for Tebow is stronger than the heat from 1000 suns.

Orange, Rose, Fiesta, Cotton have nothing on today's International Bowl. Anyone watch the game today on ESPN between UConn and power-house Buffalo Bulls from the Rogers Centre in Toronto? I gotta say the game was ok and well attended for a minor (and relatively new) bowl: over 40 thousand in a foreign country ain't bad.

didnt that uconn rb go for like 250+ yards?

QuoteOle Miss kicked that Texas Tech ass.

Bama, on the other hand...

My Big 12 bias thought Tech would beat your rebels by at least 10, so congrats on a good win.  Looks like Mr. Nutt has done some good.

BH, and MJ way to represent the conference.  Crispy why did you guys have to let us down? :-?

I hope we don't have what happened to Alabama happen to us.  We are going to be missing our version of Percy Harvin on Thursday night.  I'm getting kind of nervous, either way it should be a great game.  If anyone else wants to pull for my Sooners it would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

I am gonna' swallow some major crow and root for OU. GO SOONERS!!!

Quotedidnt that uconn rb go for like 250+ yards?

He did indeed. I think he'll stay in school for his senior year. Seems like a good kid too.

Yet another disappointment yesterday for Buffalo sports fans. I doubt the Sabres are going to make a run this year in the playoffs either (if they make it).

On CBC's Coaches Corner last night, Don Cherry confirmed his prediction that Crosby would finally snap and indeed yesterday he did, getting into a fight in the Florida game. Don said that Pitt has lost all their edge - losing Laraque, Roberts, Armstrong and Malone - and Crosby has become even more of a  target this year. No player is targeted in the NHL more than Crosby.

I dont know if Id say we lost our edge, or have currently, but its def more than 1 thing that isnt going good right now. I do think this team isnt quite as physical with the loss of those guys, but the defense, soft goals, a terrible power play (0-28 is the current streak I believe), committing too many penalties and in key times, and just off and on lazy play and mind lapses. Ive never thought Therrien was anything but an average at best coach and was holding this team back more than helping it. I think thats finally coming to fruition. Ive never been a fan of mid-season changes, but I dont see him doing anything to right this ship right now, and I have never seen him as our longtime coach, esp. since he's not a coach GM Ray Shero chose.

I was glad Sid finally was done putting up with how he was getting treated, but even morese to show most of the team he was sick and tired of Id say everyone's recent play outside Malkin's (and Kovalev starting over Ovie alongside Sid and Geno for the All-Star game is  ;D btw)

Time to find that NHL thread...Ive been waiting to revive it [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif]

Go for it. We can also talk about the dismal performance of the US team at this year's World Junior Championship. Your stacked team (and gold medal co-favourite) of under 20 year-old high NHL draft picks lost to Slovakia (no NHL picks or prospects) in the quarter-finals. Canada plays Sweden in the finals on Monday. If you can find TSN on-line or on the dish, watch that game. It'll be one of the best hockey games you see this year with 19 thousand fans expected in Ottawa for this one. BTW, Pens '07 1st round draft pick that they traded to Atlanta, Angelo Esposito, has been a key player for Canada.

Thank you Buckeyes for beating the 'Horns and allowing the Big Ten to save face....DOH!!! :'(

At least it was closer than most expected and they almost won

i'm still in mourning--we keep finding new ways to lose---the big ten is embarrassing--the play calling was embarrassing---for once i didn't have faith in Tressel's calls. some of them made no sense...i think we outplayed them 3 out of 4 quarters, dominating the first half completely---it made for a great game, though

(sigh) is this what battered wife syndrome feels like? i can't keep getting up for these games. beanie should leave for the draft--not even sure why he's considering staying.

I thought Ohio state played a great game and I am starting to think the Big 12 might have been a little overrated in the first place.

I guess the final answer will be Thursday night, but the way Ole Miss handled TT, and OSU got beat by Oregon, as well as this Texas squeaker, the elite Big 12 teams have been sub-par.

i think OK is in for a BAD thrashing/FL and USC are unstoppable

I'm pretty heart-broken today.  What a bad way to lose a great game.  I understand not putting on the prevent but with 18 seconds on the clock and a four point lead, you put a safety on the goalline and tell him not to let anyone get passed him.  Instead our "safety" goes for the ball and gets burnt with no help behind him.

I don't know that I've question a coach's decision like that since Cooper was fired.  However, the fact reminds, if the OSU player had gone for the tackle instead the pass deflection I'd likely be feeling a whole lot better today!

yeah there were a couple Cooper flashbacks. after they scored, why did they bring in pryor to throw when boeckman threw to him for the TD and his throwing had been off all night, he should have run or boeckman should have thrown...also, was beanie hurt? where was he the second half? mo wells is always good for a yard (either gaining a losing); robiskie was the bright spot

What a great game indeed!   I thought OSU came out with much more intensity in the first half, but it caught up with them in the second half.  That Buckeye defense was spent late in the third quarter.  I am also surprised at how the Big 12 South has performed.    I do think a lot of credit should go to Ole Miss.  They were playing as good as anybody down the stretch.   OK State, I am shocked they lost to Oregon, but obviously the Pac 10 was better than I thought (5-0 in bowls!)  And the Big 10 was just as shitty as we thought.  ;)

I still think OU is going to handle Florida but who knows.    What a great year for College Football.   If I had to vote, I would certainly add a playoff system, but there would still be something about the current system that I would miss.   I guarantee our discussions wouldn't be as fun!

I'd have to disagree.  There have been some great games this year for sure, but I've found myself more and more jaded with the BcS system.  I don't watch as many games as I used to.

I know I would watch more games if there were a tournament.  For example, would the Boise State game in the BCS a few years back been any less of a game if the winner got to play for the National Championship? Nope, same great game, only with a lot more people watching it and without an undefeated team going home without a championship.

All I would say is, if you want a "playoff" just tell me your exact plan.  If it goes beyond 4 teams, there are many many issues to consider.  If it's 4 teams, who would they be this year?  How do you determine the four teams?   The same BCS ranking system?

i would do 8 teams--each division should have a playoff game--no more of this winning your conference but not making it to the championship (or vice versa) it's so doable but like everything else, it's about $$
