The DARK

Gotta love Boise State up to their old tricks again.

Go Cocks! 1-0 is a fine place to start.
In another time, in another place, in another face

Didn't do so good with my picks, this evening. 2 out of 5. Wasn't emotionally invested in any of them, besides South Carolina.

WINNER      South Carolina over North Carolina State
WINNER      North Texas over Ball State

LOSER      Troy over Bowling Green
LOSER      Utah State over Utah
LOSER      Oregon over Boise State

Thoughts on the two games I watched -

South Carolina didn't look pretty. I've been saying for weeks that I think Spurrier is going to kick Ole Miss' ass, but I'm not so sure right now. It was a ballsy prediction to begin with - but damn, now, I just don't know if they've got it. Spurrier is hilarious, though. Ol' Dude (I prefer this nickname over the Ol' Ball Coach) should hang up the visor.

I picked Oregon because I hate that blue field. Boise looked decent defensively, but Oregon looked gassed on both sides to begin with. Actually, this entire game has been painful to watch. Reminded me of Auburn's spring game.

I'll be headed out to Atlanta tomorrow. Looking forward to settling in at the Atlanta Dome and watching Nick Saban kick Virginia Tech's ass single handedly.
--- and that's 2 real 4 u.

Angry Ewok

Woah, did anyone else see Blount (Oregon) punch the shit out of that Boise State player at the end of the game? LOL. Class.
--- and that's 2 real 4 u.

That Oregon-Boise game was damn boring for the first actual football in like 7 months.

Hopefully the weekends better.

After looking thru last yrs thread, I forgot how many ppl round here are NCAA football fans, but apparently not NFL fans.

QuoteTime for my picks... (44-11 (80%) this season)

Your picks are straight up; if you flat out picked the favorite to win every Top 25 game played so far this year, you'd be 80-19 or 81%. Not a great skill.

That's why Las Vegas uses something called the point spread b/c a housewife who hasn't ever watched 1 college football game in her whole life could come up with 81% on straight up bets on the higher ranked team.

This feels sacrilegious doing this, but if there's anything that tracy ever said that I agree with, its this. probably because its actually a fact, otherwise I doubt Id remember it nearly a yr later. outside of memorable disputes, this might be all I remember him saying.

If its a few points thats one thing, but seriously dude, you cant just pick games without a line  ;D

I'm the opposite now. I really don't plan on following College Football this year. The BCS has made it a complete joke. The schedule is also a joke. In the NFL you have to bring your a-game every week. in college you play half a dozen cupcakes, a couple competitive games, and then two or three where you absolutely have to have a good game or your season is done (like the OSU/USC game this year).

College football is boring the first part of the season and frustrating the second half. You won't see him in here much this year.

if you slow it down you see a little grin on the Boise State linemans face and then POW. The sad thing is it didn' look like that hard of a thrown punch. Just the action of throwing the punch should yield a couple games suspension but I hope it doesn't destroy a kids college football career.

i still think CFB blows the NFL away, then again, i'm a browns fan so i've never had much to cheer for....., and even though the USC game is gonna determine our season right from the get go, there are always a handful of good games on Saturdays. Especially given the season before last, the season of upsets. unless Brett Favre is slinging his Wranglers commericals, or the Jets/Patriots are playing, no reason to turn the tv on Sundays.

that said, GO BUCKEYES!.....

Hey, it always seems like a big early season game determines your season, but year after year, the team with one loss, that also lost that game early in the season to another good team, rises above all of the other one loss teams.  So, if you lose, yes, it will put a lot of extra pressure on them the for the rest of the season, but don't write them off.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

can't wait for tomorrow. i don't think there is any better time of year than football season in the south!

He definitely tracked that guy down to say something real assy, something like "kiss the rings biatch" right before he got knocked out.  The sucker punch wasn't classy, but something tells him he deserved it.  Going after the fans, though, that ain't cool.  Foxsports has a replay where you can clearly see this going down.

yeah, but theyre going to lose to Penn State a month or so later, so then theyll officially be out of it  ;)

You cant be serious?!

So if a player taunts another player, he deserves to get punched in the face? That makes absolutely zero sense, especially in a sport like football where players taunt one another every 5 minutes during the game, and make comments at times even before and after the game. If everyone threw a punch after being taunted, youd see a boxing match by the time the game is over.

In fact, the RB from Oregon Legarrette Blount was publucly saying this week that they owe Boise St an asswhooping. Im pretty sure any of the trash talkers in the NFL (Joey Porter, Ray Lewis, Owens, Ochocinco, etc.) would come up to Blount and give him an earful after the game, especially considering Blount had a mindblowing -5 yards or something.

Oh BTW, Oregon suspended Blount for the year.
