As for things looking fake, if I let that bother me, I would have missed watching some of my favourite cult shows: the reboot of Doctor Who, Torchwood, BSG, Farscape, DS9, Babylon 5, X-Files, Buffy/Angel/Firefly and my all-time fav guilty pleasure, Xena (although it was meant to be tonge-in-cheek).

the main reason I said the show is sort of like a soap opera is because it's main focus is character development, for most of it.   not a whole lot happens every episode at first that you are aware of, it snowballs as the roller coaster ride starts going.

It definitely stands up against other great shows of the last decade like "The Wire" or "Breaking Bad" acting wise.  Lost is pretty original so it's hard to compare to anything.  There's only really one CGI thing that stands out as kind of horrible.  and it's that one scene with Ben late in the series.

It has great acting and I love seeing key guest appearances from actors from other quality shows I worship such as Carnivale, Farscape and Deadwood. Oh, and Cheech Marin is a hoot in Lost.

Hi, you've reached the Koehler residence. From the hours of 8PM to 10PM Central time, FUCK OFF. We will not be answering our phone, door, email, IM's, questions from children, and any other family members. In fact, short of a natural disaster or a car driving through our house, we will not be moving from in front of the TV. We hope you understand. Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

My Lost party tonight seems to be losing a few participants (there's some kind of flu blug going around), but that means more wine for me! I do have to work tomorrow at 7am, so keep that in mind when I respond to this thread in the morning.

this is the first, actually. As in, the first time they are 2 places at the same time.

Aside from Juliet's statement, how do we know that's not a flash forward?

I'm wondering now if, absent the island, they're going to be each others' salvation. Jack saves Locke, Sawyer helps Kate escape, etc.

Then I'm wondering what the fck was up with Desmond and Shannon, since Des wasn't on the plane initially and Shannon was, and I thought the reset was only supposed to affect the specific timeline involving the plane in transit and the timeline involving the development of the Swan Hatch.

So breaking it down:

Juliet's hitting the bomb was supposed to prevent the creation of the hatch, removing Desmond's necessity to enter the code and his failure to do so that caused the plane to crash.

I guess from there we're supposed to infer that the electromagnetic anomaly was no more, and Desmond never got lost while sailing?

I guess the one person whose timeline is most affected is Desmonds by that logic. I wonder how this caused Shannon to not board the plane.

True to form, they answered a little and created more questions.

So Locke is the man in black (which we kind of knew last epi), He is Smokey so we know who Smokey is, he's rooted to the island unlike Jacob, and he's very angry as he wants to go home, and Richard was his prisoner at some point.

Richard was a prisoner or a slave on the Black Rock? Or is that a meaningless distinction?

Was Hippie Frank Zappa in the temple in a prior episode?

I hope it has some purpose and is not a red herring. The whole temple thing was slightly Kurtzian. I do not remember seeing that guy before.

I theorize Syid is the new Jacob and Hurly is going to play a MASSIVE part in all of this...other then the adorable butt of Sawyer's jokes.

Yes, I think Sayid is whatever Jacob is now. Obviously Locke isn't Locke, at least they made that clear (finally). It's going to be a battle, perhaps of good and evil?

Hurley is going to be manipulated by both sides, whoever loses will have to seek him out (or Miles) in order to find a host body. In fact, I believe that's what Ben's role might have been previously...Jacob used him to kill Locke back in the real world.

I'm waiting for the Widmore/Hanso connections to come out soon.
