I'm pretty geeked out about "How To Make It In America"!!!! I like the setting of the show and the ongoing plot. Just too bad that they only make 8 eps a season :( ::)

Didnt see this season because I didnt have HBO for the first half of it, but liked season 1 a lot.

That is weird that this season is only 8eps if true....Without sticking my head in the Walking Dead thread since this whole season is on my DVR and I didnt start it yet, is that show's season over as well?? No new episode yesterday, and there has only been 7 episodes so far this season (unless my DVR missed one).

Walking Dead is on break until February. 2 Sundays ago was the mid season finale.
Homer no function beer well without.

Weird show structure (never heard of a 2 month break for any show before?!!), but muchos gracias El Funkerino

Is AMC starting another new show, besides Hell On Wheels or something?!

I just looked on the AMC site & it doesn't look like there is a new show starting. I agree that the season structure is weird. I don't think I've ever seen it this way before.

they split lost up one season.  they've split shows like fringe up but they have more episodes per season.  it's not really that weird considering the holidays, sports events, specials, etc.

The mid-season finale as a concept seems new but a smart move for the reasons Sticky cited.  I love that writers of great shows like Walking Dead have incentive for mid-season jaw droppers.
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

Splitting up a season can also be a deathnail to some shows. Dollhouse was killed by splitting it up (although it may not have lasted longer than 3 years anyway) and Fringe has never recovered, ratings-wise, from the first time it went through a long break. I think it may be good for Walking Dead since it'll give the writers a chance to flesh out the many weak characters.

When does The Killing start up again on AMC?

capt. scotty

I know Homeland is getting a lot of praise, but I havent seen it yet. That said, I doubt I will enjoy it more than American Horror Story.

from what I've read The Walking Dead is pulling the most ratings AMC ever has for a TV show.  it's not going anywhere.  it'll probably last a minimum of 8seasons, maybe more.

If it stays similar to it is now, I'll bail after the end of the season. Half of the first EP of season II was good and I thought the mid season finale was solid. I also don't think AMC will keep it on the air 8 years either. And how long can a zombie storyline continue and be interesting anyway? Most good TV shows run out of steam after 5-6 years.AMC already chased away Frank Darabont due to meddling by execs. I can't see this changing.

You know how I know Always Sunny isn't a shitty show? Because if it was shitty, the Queens of Leon would have walked off midway through the episode and canceled the rest of the season

you'll be back.  I do believe the dynamics are about to change dramatically.  they're introducing new characters the first episode back in feb.  and I'm pretty sure they're going to have to pay for all the noise they've been making in a big way.   a lot of the most fucked up shit that happens is the result of the people who are still living and have gone crazy.  keep watching it'll pay off.

So Sticky, are you watching Weed Wars on I think Discovery or maybe it's A&E? Show about a "clinic" in Oakland that's legally selling and their trials and tribs and blah blah blah daily life? I asume its like porn for you. There is a LOT of herb shown and not cheap ass ditch weed either.

I watched it last night because there wasn't much on.  it's alright I guess.  Medicinal Cannabis is fine and dandy and whatever but the government needs to legalize it.  the bullshit about what the IRS did is lame, the shit the Obama administration has done to the marijuana industry is on par with what bush was doing with it.  it's really disappointing to watch our government be as dysfunctional as it is.   especially when medicinal herb is approved by a large majority in the 70-80percent range.  it pisses me off more because they're all stoned acting like they're in it to heal kids and shit but really when it comes down to it they're prescribing it for people who are "stressed" out.   it's a flower, the government needs to back the fuck off and stop stealing millions of dollars of honest citizens money.

I'm not pro or anti pot. Is the drug decriminalized in some or any US states? It is in Canada.

They mentioned 95,000 or so people are registered at that clinic. I wonder how many of them truly need it and how many convinced a doctor to write a script so they can get high grade good shit. I'm guessing probably only 5% truly need it for medical reasons and the rest just want to get baked. I still do not understand why the Gov doesn't legalize it but take over the distribution of it. You can only buy it legally from Govt run clinics. I would image that is cheaper to do then fighting a losing war and the Govt would make revenue from the sale of it.

Jaimoe- I think California is the only state currently that has legalized weed. However it's in violation of federal law.

el_chode

As far as I know, no state has legalized it. B/w 13 and 20 states and numerous counties/minicipalitieshave decriminalized "small" amounts for personal use, or law enforcement needs require decriminalization for small qty non-violent offenders.

Yes it is in violation of fed law, and Obama/Holder initially claimed no more crackdowns, but that promise was about as real as most of the "medical conditions" used to get a card in CA.

if it even sort of helps people like that epileptic kid it's 100percent worth it to fight to legalize it.  that shit is sad as fuck.  that said it shouldn't be the reason it's legal.  it should not be illegal in the first place.  the war on drugs is one of the biggest, if not biggest failures in the history of american policy.   I feel bad for all the people in prison right now for weed.

in ann arbor it's only like a 25dollar fine if you get caught smoking herb.  hash bash isn't nearly as sweet as it use to be.  they use to let you just walk around smoking joints as long as you weren't passing it around and shit.   you could do it right in front of cops and they didn't give a fuuuuck.  now they've got it marked off to a really tiny part on the U of M campus.  if I get busted by my house it's a misdemeanor I'm pretty sure.   the cops in the county where I like (oakland county) fucking blow.  corrupt ass, rich ass, punk ass mother fuckers.  the head sheriff dude says legalizing pot is going to bring the cartel to michigan and all sorts of bullshit. total nut job.  one of many.  our country is fucked.  completely and totally fucked.
