Going back to work after having 12 days off is rough. I'm already taking my lunch break.

Not trying to sound like a whiny bitch... I was very fortunate with the whole Irene thing, and, living with 2 VTers I thought the show was a good way to try to help and to celebrate the community aspect of VT. Having said that....

Drove to VT this past friday to get some tickets for the phish flood benefit show. On the way there, on 22a in the middle of the night, the driver of a passing vehicle chucked a beer can at my car. Direct hit to the driver's side view mirror. Both the can and my mirror exploded. And my car was coated in beer. Yay.

On the way home from VT the next day I got a speeding ticket.

Then yesterday I drove back to VT for the show. On the way there I got ANOTHER speeding ticket. I had a perfect, spotless, sexy driving record just last week. A 35 in a 25 and a 70 in a 55. I had just received a discount on my auto insurance because I'm a 'safe driver.' FML

The best part was how neither cop asked me why my mirror was shattered and in pieces or why my car was coated in an unusual film.

I had fun at the show.

Good luck Woody!  Bummer, Joey.  At least the Phish show was good, eh?

So, I think my cat is on a hunger strike.  Right before we left for our trip to Chicago (and Lollapalooza), she stopped eating.  The vet said (after blood work and xrays, and $400) that she seems fine.  She barely ate while we were gone, and hasn't hardly touched any food of any kind since.  Its been at least 6 weeks.

She used to be HUGE, but I picked her up tonight and she is so light.  Her litter box has seen very little action, too.  We rescued her, skeletal and pregnant, 13 years ago in NC and nursed her back to health.  As you can see below, she kind of went in the other direction.

I guess she's just done now.  I guess we are, too... letting her go.  She doesn't seem to be in any pain, 'cept perhaps weak from lack of food.  Sigh... :-\  :'(

Awww Johnny I'm sorry to hear the news  :(  What a baby roly-poly!!  Cats seem to have an instinct for that kind of stuff, whether it be health or their "time".... I do hope it's just a health speed bump and she just needed a long fast!  I was just going to ask if she's been tested for parasites or worms of any kind, but that wouldn't explain her non-eating, that would be her eating and not gaining any weight... hmmm...  As long as she doesn't seem in pain though, that's a comfort.  Keep us posted with how she's doing, I'll keep her in my prayers!!  Little roly poly baby!!

That sucks man! Im honestly not sure if I even saw any cops in VT until we got to the venue, and we came up 22a and route 7 as well. Glad you had fun, as did I, but I was fairly disappointed with the show. For a show just announced last week meaning mostly big fans would only go, it being a benefit show, their first show in VT since their Coventry fuck up, etc., the show was pretty standard and their were very few highlights for me (Suzy, Funky Bitch, Character Zero, and a couple more). Not to mention the "beer corral" that you couldnt leave after getting a beer until you finished was ridiculous, even moreso at a Phish show, and you couldnt even see the stage from it! I had a blast the last 3 days, but my actual show experience was underwhelming.

Best wishes with Stormie, Yac  :(

Well, we rushed home from a visit at my mom's 15 minutes before the ACL Fest webcast.  I checked on Stormie.  She died on the futon.

Had to console the girls, get them to sleep.  I know its just a cat, but we had Stormie 13 years, longer than our kids.  Everyone cried but me, until I went to the bathroom after the MMJ webcast had cheered me up, saw her food dish, still full of food she wouldn't eat, her water, her litter box.

Bye, Stormie.

Aw Johnny I'm so sorry........  you guys gave her the best darn home she could have through her life, and she was fortunate enough to pass so peacefully and painlessly in her sleep...

Thanks again, all.  We buried her this morning in a perfect spot.  The girls created a rock pattern, with one for Stormie in the middle and rocks surrounding it representing the five of us.  Pretty clever.

Awww, JY that made me cry. Cats can be such special pets and it's always hard to say goodbye, especially when they're older and have become a big part of the family. My condolences. Your girls seem so sweet...

Was running behind a bit this morning (overslept, couldn't find a shoe, the usual morning crap) so I texted my boss to let him know I might be late. Go outside and my car won't start. My car isn't even 2 years old... so it won't cost me anything to get it fixed, but that shouldn't be happening already.

End up driving my mom's car to work, which means I have to walk about 1/2 mile from my car to my desk since I work on a military base and my mom's car doesn't have the DoD stickers. Then it starts to rain, and apparently my wonderful mother hasn't replaced her windshield wipers since the Clinton administration. Finally get to work, quite wet, and realize I missed a weekly meeting at 9:30 that I had no idea about (I was on vacation when it was instituted).

Is it too soon for another vacation?

Sorry to hear about your cat... I know how over time pets become family members.
