After  today's loss, the Astros seem like they may possibly break the all-time strikeout record! (for their batters) Something to really aspire to. Moral victory.

Dickey had two good seasons in a row and Edwin found his old groove last year. Hopefully Romero can find his game from two seasons ago in the minors. The Os always seem to implode, so we'll see how it goes. This division will eat its own.
Oh I'm not overconfident in the O's at all.  I just think they'll do better than the national public expects.  Vegas started their w/l o/u at 76.5.  It's gone up to 78.5 or higher in most places.  As you said, the division will eat its own, except for the Yanks who won't eat anyone.

And so it begins!     I haven't even had a chance to enjoy my March Madness win yet, and two games in, I'm ducking.

I didn't realize the O's o/u was that low. I'd have put money on the over. I think they're the team to beat in the East.

My Astros are the best team in baseball right now. #1, Undefeated. the undeniable best. Top of the AL.

(Until the other teams get to play...)

Let me have my moment, it'll probably be our only win all year.

The Astros are your favorite team and you don't know that they're in the National League? Kidding...but damn, I'm out of touch, I didn't realize they moved until yesterday. Congrats on the win, enjoy it!

I like these guys:

We didn't get no-hit last night!

It's almost like two wins. one real win, and one "yeah, screw Yu, Darvish" game, which is like a moral victory.

2-0 GO STROS

My take on the Darvish almost perfect game

Stay tuned to see how the Astros make it to 3-0 in moral victories tomorrow!

Records were made to be broken.

Signed,

Kidding aside, I love the Astros, but this is already getting ugly...

Hey Fiddle, fwiw I dig the Stro's new unis.  Maybe that's enough to get them to 4-0?

And the worst thing about it is that the starting pitching has been pretty good, Norris, Harrell and Humber all had decent starts so far.

Ouch. I had to consult my multiplication tables, and after only three games!

The vultures will be circling tonight. Can't wait for John Farrell's first visit back to Toronto after breaking his contract to manage the fucking Red Sox. His reception will be hostile, but hopefully not too violent. The hatred Jays fans have towards that fucker rivals that of Vince Carter and Chris Bosh. I can't recall a baseball manager ever being despised so much.

Hey BH, you ready for the next installment of Giants/Cardinals baseball?

Zito is starting tonight. It's amazing to me how big of a swing his reputation's made with Giants fans. Before last year, he was the biggest bust in Giants free agency history, so bad he didn't even make the 2010 post-season roster. Now, after he pitched one of the greatest starts in Giants post-season history (Game 5 NLCS), after he outdueled Verlander in game 1 of the WS, he's beloved by (most of) the fans.

The brothers Upton are making braves baseball really exciting to watch this year. Hope they can stay healthy and play together a lot this season. That lineup of Upton Heyward Upton Uggla is dangerous

This is the earliest Ive ever lost interest in the Buccos. Our lineup is atrocious. Only good thing is it looks like I can make some nice coin on betting against them, presumably with under parlays as the other team will be huge favorites upon further notice and not worth just betting them.

Hell yes  Maybe they will start getting enough respect to be shown on nat'l TV instead of having the Yanks/Sox/Rays/Phils shoved down our throats every week.  Really excited about Braves baseball this year

Lotta complaining in Baltimore, since we haven't signed Josh Hamilton, Zack Grienke, Mickey Mantle, Walter Johnson, blah, blah, blah...

The owner hatred (somewhat justified) hits a fevered pitch in the offseason when we don't spend like the Yanks and BoSox.  It's all bitching and pitching here in Charm City.
It's another good season Erik and the beltway series has become a big deal!  Cheers from the Yards

Looks like you may have jumped off the bandwagon a bit too early there Cappy!

I just spent the weekend camping with some friends from college (all originally from Pittsburgh) and they were cautiously optimistic about how much longer the Buckos can keep their heads above water.  I'm feeling the same way about Cleveland as well...  :undecided:

I'll always be on the Bucco bandwagon, if you could call it that hah. More like the Bucs shipwreck of an organization, but I guess I did pull the trigger a little soon. Hard not to after 20 years of abysmal teams. Ive been following them as much as I can though, after the last couple years of 2nd half meltdowns, I wont feel comfortable until the team is still in the mix like this in mid-September.

Pedro Alvarez has come alive, I think I read the other day in the last 60 games he has 19 HR's, 50 RBI's, and is hitting .272. Jeff Locke has been a huge surprise, he's pitching at an all-star level. In 10 of his 15 starts he's given up 4 hits or less and leading the team with a 2.01 ERA. Liriano is pitching like his old self as well. #1 pick Gerrit Cole has looked quite impressive in his first few starts since being called up. Not like I expect McCutchen to have as great of a year every year as his 2012, but theyve succeeded with even him playing below what is expected of him.

Despite the 2nd half collapses the last couple years, really their biggest roadblock is being in such a tough division. They have the 2nd best record in baseball, and are only 1.5 from not being in the playoffs because of how good CIN and STL, both of which have proven their talent in the last few years as well. It will be interesting to see what happens. I dont expect another collapse, but to settle for their first .500 season in 21 years but no playoffs doesnt seem like enough with how theyre playing. I think this team is more talented than the last couple years, who were sort of playing above their heads early on and beating bad teams. This team has been winning series against all of the best in MLB.
