brown ale's are tight, at least that dogfish head indian brown.

Hey sticky, have you tried Bell's Best Brown Ale yet?  If you haven't, you should give it a try if you like Brwon Ales!

nah I haven't gotten a chance yet, I'll have to give it a taste sometime.  got stressed out today so bought a 6'er of Bells Expedition Stout, haven't had one yet tho.  anybody ever try it?  looks and sounds sorta intense for lil ol' me.

I would love to try that Bell's Expedition.  Wish they distributed in CA.

If I can kick this bug I've come down with, I'm going to be sampling my share of imperial stout this saturday at the Beer Revolution in Oakland, 1st Annual Imperial Stout Festival, 40+ Imperial Stouts on draft.

it's not bad.  a little more intense flavor wise than I expected.  slow drinkin'.  I think the third lake old ale is my favorite of bells top tier beers as off now between hopslam, expedition, and third lake old ale.    then expedition then hopslam.  which is weird because old ale is a dollar cheaper than expedition and expedition is a dollar cheaper than hopslam.

Sticky- Try Bell's Double Cream Stout. It's my favorite of theirs. And yes, hit their Brown Ale. It's better than Newcastle.

True that, and it's not even close!

I would certainly hope so! Newcastle is foul.

Newcastle isn't that bad if and only if properly stored. Their stupid clear bottles sadly ruins it a lot of time for people. Gotten too many that have gone skunky from light exposure.

Newcastle is a fine beer. They don't do brown bottles because the small amount of diacetyl produced by light exposure is appropriate for the style.

Btw, Miller high life uses tetrahops which don't react to sunlight.

so I bell's - best brown ale'd as asked per this threads request.  it is quite delicious.  smooth, subtle.  chill.   compared to the expedition stout anything will seem mellow.  the expedition is so thick that it leaves a brown, mustache-y type ring on your lips.  makes it look like you've been eating out a butt or something.  good call on this brown ale.  very good for a 5.8.  fair price, good flavor.

Got a couple 22s on my way home from work last night:

The Ass Kisser was really good, haven't had the Green Flash yet.

Picked of a sixer of this yesterday:

Love the Grand Wagoneer woody on the label!  I will say, Founders is one damn fine brewery and I'm glad we get their beer here in Ohio!

I'll be drinking lots of beers tonight since today's my birthday! I'm heading to a nearby English pub that carries lots of local beer on tap, including a couple of Toronto-area IPAs  and a few APAs. If I check back tonight, I'll be 3 sheets to the wind. Good times.

I had it on the forum calendar, but fear it was obscured by the Choc & Ice 10 year anniversary.  Sorry.  You're in good company, eh?

Goin' old school tonight with a bottle of Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout. Still cannot be topped for an oatmeal stout.

Happy Bday Jaimoe!  Hope it's a good one at the pub

Nice call on the Sammies MJK.  I probably haven't had one since around 2000 ;D  I had me a Founders Centennial in Philly this weekend which was great.  We don't get Bell's or Founders in MD but get a couple of smaller breweries from Michigan so it was nice to try some.

Has anyone else had New Belgium's La Folie sour brown ale from their Lips of Faith Series?  I'm not a biggest New Belgium guy but this one is special.  I can't recommend it enough.  It's delicious.  I'm on a sour kick so also recommend Petrus Pale Ale if you can get your hands on it.  The name is deceiving because it is much more a sour than any Pale Ale taste.
