Watched the DVD of The Devil and Daniel Johnston--what a sad tragic man.  My favorite thing on the DVD was the reunion between Danel and Laurie in the bonus features.  What a gut wrenching emotional moment.  This movie gives a whole new perspective on mental illness, very eye opening.
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

Reservation Road - very good movie starring Leaf Phoenix, Mark Ruffalo & Jennifer Connelly. Decided to ignore the critics on this one as I like both of the lead actors, pleased I did.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Dug into the "free" movies on Comcast this weekend, saw some real classics...

-Roadhouse: I'd never seen this, but always heard it was wonderfully cheesy, and it was! I know that many folks would put 'Ghost' or 'Dirty Dancing' up at the top as his finest performance, but right up there with 'Point Break', I've got to put this one up there for the Swayze.

-Blue Velvet: I was curious to see how my wife would react to this one...she ended up digging it. Dennis Hopper is a mad man. "Heineken?! Fuck that shit! PABST BLUE RIBBON!!!"

-Cry Baby: Just from the cast alone, this had to be good: Johnny Depp, Iggy Pop, Ricki Lake, Traci Lords...it's a fun one.

Imagine a dinner with Patrick Swayze, David Lynch, and John Waters  ;D

Saw 'I Know My First Name Is Steven' on dvd over the weekend.

It's the story of Steven Stayner who was kidnapped while walking home from school in Merced, CA in 1972 and escaped from his captor 7 years later.

Good film.

Horrible!
Short but sweet, tell it like it is TK!  ;D

Bronco Billy - not Eastwood's best & we'll leave it @ that  ;)

Watched The Conversation a couple of weeks ago, saw The French Connection again last night - Gene Hackman @ his very best!

+ my copy of Rambo shipped a couple of days ago but I just read that Stallone was on Leno last night & told the audience that there would be a directors cut out later this year...don't you just f**king hate it when that happens?!!  >:( >:( >:(

QuoteMy college roomate fancied himself a surfer.  We spent many an hour watching reruns of Blossum (we had no cable...or food) and Point Break on a loop.  That movie has a place in my heart (and so does Blossum's friend Six).

Isn't Mr Swayze battling pancreatic cancer?

My wife has just told me that she used to have a crush on Blossom's dad.   I had a crush on Six, for sure.   :-[ :-/ ;D

Sorry, and good luck to the Swayzemeister...
The trouble with the straight and the narrow is it's so thin, I keep sliding off to the side

Escape From Alcatraz - still working my way through Eastwood's films. Don't think I'd seen this one before, very good movie.

Just saw a short and a much longer trailer for Mike Meyer's Love Guru. ugh. I looks painfully bad. PAINFULLY Bad. In both, it looks he just recycled jokes and gags from Austin Powers.

What the hell happened to him. So I Married An Axe Murderer was genius. The first Austin was great. From there its all downhill.

Into The Wild - I bought this just after it came out but have been reluctant to watch it (the book is one of favs, worried I might be let down, waiting for the right evening etc)
What a brilliant movie. Hats off to everyone involved; I loved Sean's direction, thought the whole cast was faultless/excellent & loved Eddie's music throughout.
I don't remember him meeting quite so many people in the book though, were some of them 'made up' for the screenplay? I guess I'll have to read it again?
I want to watch it again now, a sure sign that this will be one of my fav movies...

Especially that scene where his face gets all contorted like he's straining to take a really big shit.  Oh wait a minute, he makes that face in EVERY one of his movies.   :P

He's good in Raising Arizona, Adaptation, and Wild At Heart. Other than that, I haven't seen many movies he's in.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

I just watched The Flaming Lips movie ("Fearless Freaks")  I really like how Wayne is still this "everyman" kind of guy--living in the town he grew up in and all.  Watching Steven talk about his heroin use was a definite downer tho'
