We just rented Burn After Reading the other night.  Nothing like I thought it would be, but it was excellent.  Coen brothers did another aswesome job.

So here is my round up of movies seen at Sundance (disclaimer:  I go to visit my folks, ride the mountain, and see some flicks.  I don't go all hard-core and see movies all day, so this is what we were able to get tickets for and they were all premiers so I got some good Q & A action):

Wounded Knee (this is a documentary about the AIM stand at Wounded Knee in 1973.  It was done for American Experience, so it will air on PBS I think in April with 4 other pieces on Native American history.  Do yourself a favor and watch it)

*This was not in competition and will be released 3/27/09.  Filmed in Pittsburgh (mainly at Kennywood where I almost met my death on the Jack Rabbit roller coaster at a very tender age of 7), this is a great movie.  I mean, Bill Hader and Kristin Wiig!  They were in attendance, which was wonderful, b/c one scene by Bill Hader got an amazing reaction from the audience.  I love Sundance audiences  :-*.

We watched this at 8:30 am on Inauguration day.  I could not ask for a more important film to watch on such an important day.  Woody Harrelson puts in a great performance.  And Ben Foster....WOW  :o

Interesting.  As a Coen brothers die hard who really didn't enjoy this film, I was wondering what you took out of it.  I know the film has gotten mixed reviews on this thread alone and was hoping that you might be able to expound on your positive review of it.  Cheers :)

Havent seen The Wrestler yet, but I have a feeling Ill think it deserved to be up for best picture, and probably Aronofsky for direction.

How does Springsteen win the GG for best original song and not even get nominated here??

..Button got an awful lot of nominations when you start looking into art direction and make-up, etc.

The movie was shit, hard to say how good/bad he was.

Ledger is going to win anyway, so I think the academy just nominated him kind of as a "hey, great job getting off the yayo, here you go"

'uck Tropic Thunder.  Hollywood peeps had to celebrate a stupid movie with lots of celebs that made fun of their own delusional, self absorbed ways in a way that only insiders felt to be "so funny and clever."

Has anyone seen Okuribito?  I'm excited to see it.

Man, I found this on the free movie section or our on demand and what a classic.  Mini bigfoot in suburbia with Meatloaf trying to keep it away from a little girl.

Brilliant storyline, well acted and masterfully directed.

Must view!  It was hilarious
